What do you mean not having a proper recommended FS oil? They are advertising their R9000 has recommended FS Oil for Gixxer and Intruder.Originally posted by 8reaper View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thanks for the response.Originally posted by ZealousShumbh View PostI have a 2017 Gixxer SP. Here are my comments.
1. Don't know much but don't think that there will be a vast difference in resale value between sp and normal 2018 models. May be some other experienced owner give a better overview.
2. No changes have been made apart from adding ABS. The pillion seat is still as uncomfortable as ever. The gear are as chunky as ever.
3. Looks decent. I dont like it much. But then again looks are subjective
I looked at the bikes in person and after much deliberation decided to stick with the Moto GP inspired blue version. The gold in the 2018 sp version is dull orange more than gold. Looks different in person.
Paid the full amount and have submitted my docs for registration. Will be picking up the vehicle on Tuesday or Thursday. Excited! [emoji3]

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Even i faced the same head leaks in my 3rd service where i opted for motul 7100 though i ran it for 2k and in my 4th service replaced the engine head washer and gasket cyclinder cover and changed to r9000 and soon after few days there were again signs of leaks in engine head from washer only, so i talked to my preferred local mechanic and told he would do the job. He opened the engine head and cleaned the washer and gasket with petrol without leaving any residue and fixed the gasket and head cover washer with a sealant and till now i have no leaks where im still running with r9000 and covered 2.8k kms.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostI have used it. The engine "feels" a tad more eager to rev. Also smoothness goes down a little, the engine feels a little bit coarse. For some reason all these FS oils started an oil leak from the head for me despite using the correct quantity.
The job was done in early march.Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 08-13-2018, 09:20 AM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
My bike is not in warranty anymore. Its a 2017 SP 16 months old with almost 12k Km done. I want to try SS oils. Have tried the SS crap by idemitsu and Motul 7100. Motul 7100 is overkill but is definitely worth it. I like it very much and have only positive points on it except for the cost. I want to try a cheaper alternative.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View Post5100 is not officially supported by Suzuki for Gixxer.
Dont recommend an oil that is not supported by Suzuki within the warranty period.
These comes to my mind.- Shell Advance AX7 10W40. - Found mixed reviews here on this thread. Some say its a cheap quality SS oil as compared to Motul 5100. Only reason I am considering it over Motul 5100 is its correct grade.
- Motul 5100 10W30 and 15W50 - Have seen good reviews. Inappropriate grade is my concern here. I am living in Pune where min and max temp are in ranges of 10°C to 40°C. I am thinking of experiencing with 10W30. I would be happy if anyone can share his experience on these.
- Ecstar r7000 and r9000 - Relatively new. Not much reviews found.
* Also, do I need to use a flush when changing engine oil from SS to FS or vice versa? I as of now am running with the SS oil by idemitsu. SVC guys filled that up.
Any help/advice in deciding which one to go for will be very helpful. Thanks
Fortunately never faced such problems. But somehow, I felt the urge of replacing the oil just after 3k Km as it was almost jet black by then.Originally posted by Shashank K R View Post

What did you do to void the warranty? Standard warranty lasts for 2years from date of purchase.Originally posted by ZealousShumbh View PostMy bike is not in warranty anymore. Its a 2017 SP 16 months old with almost 12k Km done. Ecstar r7000 and r9000 - Relatively new. Not much reviews found.

Oops. Mistakenly said that. What i meant was that the Free Service Period has been over now.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostWhat did you do to void the warranty? Standard warranty lasts for 2years from date of purchase.
R7000 is SS. Not available in India I guess. Is R5000 available? Also what are your views on the oils mentioned by me?Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostR5000 not 7000

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Your free service period is over but you are still in warranty period and you have to get the next 4 paid services done at an ASC to maintain the validity of the warranty, and for that you have to use the Oil that is recommended by Suzuki. Only 3 oils are recommended by Suzuki for Gixxer and I have already mentioned it in the previous post.
Other than that you can use any motorcycle oil you want as long as its the proper grade. You wont feel any difference. I have already mentioned this in my Ownership review. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
With 10w30 the bike engine feels more free, but noise increases. See below.Originally posted by ZealousShumbh View PostI am thinking of experiencing with 10W30. I would be happy if anyone can share his experience on these.

In our climate, 10w40 is perfect for the Gixxer (unless temps cross 40°C regularly). 15w and 20w make it sluggish. Any of the mineral/semisynths will be good enough (Motul by Suzuki/Ecstar R5000/Shell AX7) with changes every 2000-2500kms. Hardly any difference using other oils (except 7100) other than the extended drain interval with FS.Originally posted by sandeepcf View PostI have tried
Mobil mineral oil 10w40 (500-1000) Nothing good about this oil.
Total Quartz 9000 5w40 (1000-1700) and (2600-2900) Smoother gearshifts
Honda Throttle 10w30 (1700-2600) Crispier but noisy engine
Mobil Delvac 1400 15w40 (2900- ) Covered only 30kms.....can't review this yet.
No flush required if you're regularly changing oil.Last edited by Shashank K R; 08-13-2018, 01:47 PM.

I disagree. FS oils give smoother experience.Any of the mineral/semisynths will be good enough with changes every 2000-2500kms. Hardly any difference using other oils (except 7100) other than the extended drain interval with FS.
Currently I am using Shell Helix HX8 5w30@Rs450/litre. The engine feels fantastic, also without noise. Ofcourse I did not do highway runs yet to test it.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Service centers here at pune do not have the ecstar r9000 yet. They put the idemitsu one only and I seriously hate it from the deepest core of my heart. Anyhow, I always get the service done by Authorized centers only but I believe according to you I can do that from local shop too after probably my 9th service right?Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostYour free service period is over but you are still in warranty period and you have to get the next 4 paid services done at an ASC to maintain the validity of the warranty, and for that you have to use the Oil that is recommended by Suzuki.
Thanks a lot bro. I will try to get ecstar oil from suzuki on my next service. Otherwise, will use Motul 5100 10w30 as it will be almost post monsoon with temp 20°C -30°C by the time I will be getting my next service.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostWith 10w30 the bike engine feels more free, but noise increases.

Thanks a lot for the flush info too.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
It's doing fine. I also removed all the O-rings about 5000 KM's ago. The chain is still great at 35k kms. One of the advantages of removing the O-rings is the chain is sliding very smooth due to the gaps. Also my lubricating routine has gone down to greasing every 1000 kms only. I tried 100 KMPH runs 5 or 6 times and no issues with the chain. One thing though the chain is frequently getting loose.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostHow's the pulsar sprocket doing? Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Somehow the stock front sprocket gets hooked very easily despite the regular cleaning and lubing. I too changed to a P150 front and there's hardly any wear in 6000kms. I'm not sure, but the loosening thing might be due to removal of the O-rings.Originally posted by sandeepcf View PostIt's doing fine. I also removed all the O-rings about 5000 KM's ago. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Picked up my bike today post registration! Blue with Abs. Like I mentioned before, am an amateur when it comes to geared vehicles!
Drove it home. Beautiful machine. The gear shift indicator is a bit godsend. Two things I noticed...
1. Due to the AHO standard, the headlight is always on but the headlamp surface gets fairly warm. Is that normal?
2. I'm used to a scooter which had a beeping sound for left and right indicators. Is it possible to get it installed for the Gixxer?
Thanks Mozzard for your PDI instructions. Everything seems in place. For now!
