Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I agree with deepak. Some of the really good helmets from HJC, shoei, arai, are a min of 7k. For a leather set of knee guards and gloves with jacket, i guess it would be in the same ballpark. Save a bit, and then make a splurge on your dream gearOriginally posted by babaji View PostAny suggestions on knee guards and elbow guards? Budget is 1k
Steel series, is really not a bad helmet range, so there is nothing to worry about, If you are comfortable in them, and they are guaranteed, you are sorted. Helmets, like any product range are the same,if you had paid 2k more, you would have got my helmet. 3K more on that, the base range of world class products of HJC, Shoei, arai...and so forth.
Some people have advised against LS2, due to spurious goods of theirs making their way into the market due to their popularity, but the dude i bought from was an authorised dealer...& ultimately its his word i have to take.
So...SAVE!!!!

Will post a pic of mine some time.
I had tried the rest of the brands but since I do not have great build they all looked too huge on me. Hence I went for Ares. Its worth for me.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Update on the 1st Service:Originally posted by dneel View Post+1 to that. When HSNP was in vogue they were made with computerized markings (my cars from Himachal have them as HP had implemented it before it was withdrawn) and the plate is riveted to the vehicle. Also the plate number is recorded on the RC of the car and recoded with the RTO. And all this was for less than 400 RS. Now people are being fooled into thinking they have HSNP where as they are just another ordinary plate.
Got my bike's 1st service done today. 765Km on the ODO. Damages - 290 buck ONLY. They are running short of the oil filter which they said will be raplaced once they have the parts. Initially gave me an estimate of 500 bucks and when I questioned what were being changed found out they were giving additives of 200 RS. As has been discussed on this thread, additives are a way of ripping people and I flatly told them no gimmicks required, please :P
Also I found out that the technicians don't care a hoot about the RPM restrictions on the vehicles. They were servicing the Lets and the Access and I saw new scooters' throttles being taken to the limit. So much of RPM limits.
Also, i was told to come back in the evening when I had been at their servicing center bang at 8 AM when it opens. I asked whether it takes whole day to change oil, oil filter and a wash and told I will wait for them to finish. I always stay with my vehicle (car or bike) lest they misuse it or steal petrol. And I was right. there was another Gixxer on service which was being used for short errands by the technicians.
Anyways, technicians trotted in at 930 though the timings say 8 AM to 6 PM. My job was done by 1030. So much of whole day
I had reported the issue of false between 4 and 5 and as expected they did nothing about it even though it was mentioned on the job card. I am going to report it to Suzuki.
Got seat covers for 250 all inclusive and side indicator buzzer for 90.
At 789 on the ODO now and waiting for the next 11 KMs to enjoy the bike's rawness
Yesterday night had posted a complaint on the Suzuki website regarding 4 issues. Just now got a call from the SVC asking what was the issue. here are they:
1. Oil filter was not replaced - On 29th SVC said spares not available - today they have it and will replace it.
2. Air filter was not cleaned - They will clean it now - surprising how they skirt work
3. False between 4 and 5 gear slots - they will now look into it - I had mentioned it in the job card.
4. Buzzer price was 90 rs whereas market Minda is available for 36 rs. - they now claim it was including labour charges. I told them nowhere in the bill it is said about the labour charges, neither did they mention it to me. Also I had bought it directly from the spares division and then got it fitted after the Invoice was generated. Now they say they will look into it.
The money involved is trivial - It is the attitude that annoys me the most. Why do they take the customer for granted and think we don't understand anything about bikes and they are the overlords in this domain.
