I got my Blue Gixxer this Thursday. I was headed to my home from the showroom and noticed that the bike was not revving past 5000RPM in all gears. Also the acceleration was very very less.
I immediately reported this problem to the showroom mechanic and mentioned that there might be something wrong with carburetor. Surprisingly he agreed with my analysis and asked me to use the bike for 2 days and come to him if the problem still persist. And those 2 days were the worst; there was continuous itching in my mind about what was wrong with my bike and what excuses the showroom people would give in the process of resolving my problem. Then on Saturday I again visited the showroom and asked them to change the carburetor to see if it was the culprit. To my utter surprise they agreed to do that without any kind of compelling from my side. And guess what it worked like a charm. Now the bike is revving happily and so am I.
    Thanks to Vallurupalli Automotives, Vijayawada.
Congrats. When did you booked the bike? I am from guntur. I am still confused between gixxer and fz v2! Can you suggest me from both?

I thought you already purchased Gixxer. I had inquired with guntur showroom and they said they can't get Blue, Black, Red Gixxer until January. So I approached Vijayawada showroom.
I thought that there would be waiting period, but there isn't any. I called them on 4th of december and they said you can come tomorrow and get your vehicle. But due to some mis communication of their employees, they sold the blue one to another customer. They showed another blue one, but there are scratches on it. so I refused that vehicle. they said new stock arrives in 3 days and they called me on wednesday that your blue vehicle is ready. I bought it on thursday. Also they are quoting 85,700 only.

I didn't prefer FZ v2 because of its FI. some say its a big advantage and also USP, but I think we don't need FI on a 150cc motor. Also according to yamaha one has to clean FI every 6000+kms and to do that we have to approach service center always. what happens if something goes wrong? Like in my case the carb in my new gixxer was bad and they replaced with new one in about 30min. If that happens with FI, I believe it won't be easy.
If you are still confused you can meet me in guntur. Just PM me.

        Go for gixxer. Less hassle.
Fz fi has lot of niggles as I may say.

1> Doesn't start by pushing, battery dead means bike dead.

2> U can't start stop randomly. If ur in a signal for 30sec or so, its suggested to not to stop the engine. After u turn the key the fuel pump starts, then engine check then ignition happens. Randomly doing it will harm pump and ignition problem may arise.

3> All time 2+ litre of fuel should be there in the engine as the fuel pump is immersed in fuel. Failing to do so will damage fuel pump.

4> Can't fill fuel from roadside fuel people( fuel sold in wine/Pepsi cola bottles by people) cause these bottles are nonetheless dirty and fi injector has fine nozzle that spray fuel in the ignition chamber. So any dirt/fine grain may clog injector (Fi).

5> U live in India, very few or I may say 1 in a thousand people know about Fi system. If ur stranded in a highway with a lady and system gets kaput, god only can help u .A carburettor will never fail to that extent where u r stranded, even if does any mechanic can repair it but not a Fi system.

        Good Luck.

Regarding start/stop - doesn't it having a start/stop button, which gives us the freedom of not using the keys often!
Regarding fuel - who purchases fuel from roadside shops when there are plenty of fuel pumps around?

          Just my thoughts

Regarding your first doubt, start stop button calibrates the system same as the key (I have no idea why but it is so ).
Regarding your second doubt, if you're stranded on an empty tank and nearest fuel bunk is 20kms away you would need to use the road side fuel too (unless you're superman or just smart enough to carry extra petrol). I myself have been in this situation with my unicorn and in this case carb is convenient unlike FI.

AFAIK, start/stop button on FZ(old) just switches the engine Off and putting it back ON doesn't do all those speedo check and all. So I believe its just a switch which cuts of current to spark plug. I am not sure if this is same with FI.
Regarding petrol - I felt its not a reason to omit the FZ-FI where most of the people would be using it inside the city and doing a weekend trip on highway. The chance of using road side fuel is very very less. FZ with fuel tank of 12 L can have a range of 500kms atleast!

So do you suggest fz-fi ?

If not how was gixxer compared to fzs v1?

Just go for the gixxer my self test rided both the bikes i feel gixxer has better acceleration, superb refinement , zero vibrations even when revved hard, better braking & best digital console in the indian market with lots of useful info.

Gixxer is definetly best than fz fi in many aspects.

Buddy, I haven't ridden FZ-FI or Gixxer, but old FZ only.
I just felt those reasons for omitting FZ to be silly, so was just pointing out that

If u can live with fi go for it. Fz fi having a buttersmooth engine and clutch will suit subtle riders.

Gixxer is for purist. Better acceleration, speed, digi console, reserve knob, fresh style and twin exhaust makes it an eye candy which cost 7-10k less than fz fi.

I would have fz fi only if it had rear disk. 10 k for fi is too much.

And yeah I've ridden a Pulsar 150 ugiv for 37k kms and I felt fz fi is underpowered than my pulsar. Gixxer on the other hand blasts away past 5000 rpm and you need to see it to believe it.

A test drive of both bikez is all u need bro.

I'm going to buy neither Gixxer nor FZ-Fi
Just wanted to mention my thoughts on FZ's drawbacks you pointed out. And, we're going O.T, we'll stop here
