This will be more noticeable on long runs. Secondly, the method we use to determine mileage is not entirely foolproof.

I never said overweight people will never get any mileage. Mileage will reduce by a couple of kilometers/litre of fuel is what I meant and this is true. The same applies to riding with a pillion(here I am talking about adding extra weight to the vehicle). Yes, the bike is designed to carry two people but how much you/anyone sitting along with you weigh, affects the performance of the engine as well as how the vehicle handles which in turn affects(in a positive or negative manner) mileage.
Gixxer is a light bike, removing the saree guard won't bring noticeable difference which you know already
It is not affecting the safety unless you are going to have a female pillion on board.
Afterall, its your bike, try removing saree guard and ride safe

Cool then. Seems like nothing to worry.
Have done 400Kms so far. Having a strange feel that the engine has started grunting rough a bit.
Have breached 4.5K rpm unknowingly many times, but immediately have come down. And sometimes have breached it when I accidentallly hit neutral while shifting from 1st to 2nd and opened throttle :|

Booked My Black Gixxer today . Saw the markings on every bike. I checked 2 different colour bikes. So asked the mechanic what it was, he said its nothing, if bike had any issue then company won't deliver such bikes to showroom.

Rpm limiter works like charm to stay with in the required rpm during run in. I have set it to 4500 and this bright white light blinks when I reach that rpm. Now don't have to look at console every minute.
Also seems to be getting 52 kmpl mileage even before first service, better figure than earlier checked figures. Waiting to try the higher rpm

Just a query, the Suzuki 10w40 oil by motul which is used in gixxer is semi synthetic or a fully synthetic oil?

              Hahaha!! Same here bro!!

Have unknowingly crossed 4.5k a couple times, not by much...probably 4.7/5.0(was at 67/70 kmph)...but immediately came down. Also had the neutral issue at first

Have done about 270km now, and dont feel any roughness in the engine. Also, the gixxer engine by nature at lower speeds is very grunty and keeps kicking ahead, just keep in gear and glide ahead with minimal brake to control.

One thing i would suggest, after my experience at least, is for the run-in period, keep the gear transitions in 0-4.5K RPM as smooth as possible. Try and upshift a little sooner, and release the clutch a bit slower, and you will notice a marked improvement in the smoothness of your ride. This bike just pulls in any damn gear, so dont worry about early upshift.
Just feel the engine noise to determine optimal shift points, and your ride will be sooo much smoother.

              Cheers!

p.s- Query to all. Do suzuki in any way limit the engine till first service in any manner?

Limiting the engine is only possible in fuel injected bikes. Also none of the fuel injected bikes have been limited till now, don't know about sbk, only the dukes rpm light is set up at 6.5k after 1st service (4.5k) before 1st service.

Bajaj CT100 has a ride control switch. Turning it on won't let you go above 60kmph. If thats what you're saying.
                  Sorry if I misunderstood you.

CT 100 ride control actually locks the accelerator not the engine, so tehnically no, it doesnt limit the engine in any way. limiting the engine is possible by either tuning carb fuel/air screw (No showroom does that) and by ecm tuning/detuning (possible in fuel injected bikes eg R15, Duke 200, BUSA) etc.

Touched 3 figures on the bike yesterday. 40 days of ownership.

                            Life after first service:
Engine is more smooth now. Set the rev indicator to 7500 rpm (It is actually not a limiter but just an indicator).
There is a whee whee sound from the engine around 65 kmph, but go past that and the sound vanishes.
Mileage before service was around 52kmpl.
Did full tank after service. Yet to hit the reserve - so can comment on mileage later on.
Anyone in this forum from Pune got the Blue beauty and drive around Magarpatta? I saw the rider twice this week. If yes, we can meet up

Took the R15v2 to task on the highway yesterday for a short 10 KM run. Now now - lets not start a debate on this :P
It is not only the bike but also the rider that matters

Folks who have gone past the 1 K mark - any suggestions or changes that you are noticing?

Planning to go on the winding ghat roads around Pune this weekend. Anyone interested?

On the instrument console, there is a switch on the left side bottom for selecting option. Once selected we can increase/decrease the desired level via the right side button.
