Ever wondered why different auto magazines report different mileage figures when they test the same bike? This is primarily because of the weight of the rider, how tuned the bike is towards mileage and the style of riding with the first point having a heavy influence on mileage numbers.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I beg to differ with you on that mate! Reason being the lesser the bike weighs, the less amount of power the engine has to generate to drive it forward thus consuming marginally lesser fuel. 2 kgs is a big deal(if the saree guard is that heavy for real)Originally posted by deepakshankar View Post

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have tested the mileage of my Hunk with and without a pillion (70kg) in the same route and riding conditions. But didn't notice any noticeable difference.Originally posted by raintree View PostI beg to differ with you on that mate! So I think you'll hardly see any improvement in mileage/power by removing saree guard!

I think he was referring to white-round-marks on crankcase.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostIt is the chain slider made of rubber to avoid chain contact with the chassis. It is perfectly fine.
Any tick(☑) or a point(.) would've put him at ease. However, this round-mark is often used to point-out/highlight error, hence there lies the confusion !There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have seen this rear tyre hugger on the new Fazer FI 2.0. Photos are not of great quality. Please suggest if Gixxer and Fazer/FZ uses the same tyre specification/profile of 140/60R-17-Tubeless, can I have it fitted to the Gixxer as it would not only cover the tyre well but I have seen it does cover the chain to some extent. Will surely result in less dust and mud around the surrounding area.

I see similar markings in mine too. I haven't faced any problems so far but is it true that the markings signify quality failures?Originally posted by Jith_in View PostAre you facing any issues? Else why so confused? It may be some error poined out during quality checks and it may be rectified.

Not exactly failures, but most of the times this is marked during quality checks indicating need of rework at the circled area.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Raintree you aint getting my point here mate removal or having a saree guard wont improve your mileage by any margin and as pointed by Satson my old bike I have ridden both solo and pillion its mileage was almost consistent rather than weight its riding style which matters more when it comes to mileage. As per your statement a fat man driving a bike will hardly get any mileage on his bike due to the weight which aint true.

does any one .... have this type of ... white round up marks behind the crankcase .... plz post some pics
I think marks are just for paint issue cause a crank cover is a moulded (made in a shell) the way candles are produced, so it wouldn't be a crack or bend one.
Strange thing is that even it had any issues, they would not only rectify but erase the markings later. Looks fishy, better email Suzuki with pics and ask. Poochne me kya jata hai ?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I guess both of you are not getting my point here! What I am trying to say is, a difference of few kilograms(from any part of the bike or the human body) will definitely increase/decrease mileage but it will be so very little that it will almost be unnoticeable instantly. This will be more noticeable on long runs. Secondly, the method we use to determine mileage is not entirely foolproof.Originally posted by deepakshankar View PostRaintree you aint getting my point here mate removal or having a saree guard wont improve your mileage by any margin and as pointed by Satson my old bike I have ridden both solo and pillion its mileage was almost consistent rather than weight its riding style which matters more when it comes to mileage. As per your statement a fat man driving a bike will hardly get any mileage on his bike due to the weight which aint true.
I never said overweight people will never get any mileage. Mileage will reduce by a couple of kilometers/litre of fuel is what I meant and this is true. The same applies to riding with a pillion(here I am talking about adding extra weight to the vehicle). Yes, the bike is designed to carry two people but how much you/anyone sitting along with you weigh, affects the performance of the engine as well as how the vehicle handles which in turn affects(in a positive or negative manner) mileage.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15
