With a tear like that, the whole point of integrated seat (cowl) combo is nullified such bad society we live in.

    Ride safe and have fun.

Congrats sameer for the blade.. Even I have got a rc390 I had booked it on 15th September. Got it delivered on 5th November. I have few queries regarding the bike. I'm new to xbhp. So hi all. If you guys could help me out would be really great.
            Q. 1. The shifting from 1st gear to 2nd below 6k rpm comes with a thud. It happens with all the gears up to 6th if the rpm is below 6k rpm. And the handle and footpegs vibrates like crazy. But above 6k and below 7.5k it's silky smooth.
            Q. 2. I have just done 200kms on the bike and because of the vibrations I shift after 6k and below 7.5k rpm. Is it because of that I'm getting a 16kmpl. My riding is mainly city and few kms of highway around 10 to 15kms. Or is it my riding style?
Thanks in advance guys. Would really appreciate your comments.
Literally breaking my head because of this.

Vibes will ease out after the 1st service and the bike will become much smoother. Low mileage is normal in B2B traffic. I was getting 18kmpl in B2B traffic on my D390. Also u can expect slightly improved mileage after the 1st service. In Bangalore I was getting 23kmpl on an average and in Dharwad am getting 28-29kmpl, on open highways I get around 36kmpl. Shifting gears between 4500-6000rpm may slightly improve your mileage, but do not lug the engine. Slight vibrations will be present as this is a high revving single cylinder. If it is too bothersome, check with svc guys.

              Goodluck.

Congrats for your bike mate!!! Don't worry about the vibes. They will reduce drastically as you pile on miles. Clunky shifts are something even I experience sometimes but I think it's a matter of getting a knack of it. I doubt this gearbox is honda or yamaha smooth. As for shift rpm, I would suggest keeping below 5k in city. Higher revs will probably heat up bike and there won't be much airflow at city speeds to cool the things.

You mileage again seems a bit on low side. Is this the console reading? If so, it won't be much reliable. Even I see 15-20 kpl in city.

And you will see a transformed bike by the time you reach close to 1000 kms. Happy riding and stay safe!!!

Not a good idea for new bike. Better buy it when you can ride for at least 100kms every month.

                    Ok bro,
First thing to consider in a 390 (any 390) is that its a 375cc single. So at lower revs its gonna lug and make noise and have rough shifts. But I got good news for you. After the first service drive for about 1.5k more kms and your bike will become a lot less jerky and clunky at low revs. After about 4k kms the bike'll becomes butter smooth and will start having vibrations only upto 3k rpm. Gears will smooth out and shifting will no longer be accompanied by a thud sound post 1st gear. I know this coz I saw your this on more than one 390.
Secondly, don't judge the bike at 200kms. Pre first service the mileage is low and I'll tell you this right now that the mileage indicated on the console is more inaccurate than saying Hitler was korean. But if you want higher fe from your bike right now, try riding it in only 4gears in the city at 6.5k rpm and don't shift before that. And try to almost redline it every once or twice just briefly. Warm up in the morning for at least 2mins before first service and for 1min after first service before riding for best results and don't lug the bike about much at low speeds on higher rpm.
The bike is basically very thirsty upto 60kmph so keep it above 60 and below 80kmph before first service for higher fe and lower vibrations.
Do these and post results. I guarantee an fe of at least 25kmpl before 1st service unless there's something wrong with your bike.
                    Cheers

I doubt that since the scrape is on the wrong side.

Thanks a ton guys. Really appreciate your help. Will keep the points in mind. Will keep you guys updated. I did a checkup on the mileage when I first fuelled after getting delivery till the low fuel level notification cropped up. I don't believe the console readings it's abrupt as hell. And another thing I noticed I rode a duke 390 and my rc390 back to back. I felt that duke 390 has more tall gearing than that of rc. Am I just feeling like that or is something changed cause in the reviews from the magazines gear ratios are same in both the bikes.

The ECU is remapped for higher top end at the cost of pickup. The acceleration is a bit linear in Rc compared to duke and that is why the duke has a jerkier feel for pickup and a hooligan pull in terms of acceleration making it feel taller geared though it isn't. The Rc's acceleration is felt less but is effective such that you'll get to top speed of each gear smoother than duke making it seem like the Rc is geared shorter as you wouldn't feel the actual journey from bottom end to top speed. I hope I explained it sufficiently enough bro.
                          Cheers.

This incident is sad. Just as an advice I don't park the bike where I can't see it. Getting a lot of eye gaze from people and people touch the sit, hit the sit to see what is it made of, put accelerator. It irritates the hell out of me. I keep it under surveillance as much as possible. Atleast for few months cause the bike is newly launched. And everyone is turning their heads. I use my old pulsar cover to cover it so that it doesn't become the centre of attraction to the kids. Ktm cover is a flashy orange. Another thing I heard that in bangalore there were two accidents within 7 days. One was the test ride bike from mekhri circle ktm and it happened the day I was supposed to get the bike from there and in chennai all total 17 accidents. And it seems the central government has asked ktm to reduce the power. Maybe it's a rumour but whatever it is ride safe guys. It's a beast. Respect your machine and it will respect you.
