How is ABS turned on and off?

When the light shows "ABS", does it mean its on? It disappears when moving.

It should be in the manual.. read the manual (its normally given along with a new bike)
For the d390 - I know that if it stays on while moving, then it means there is some fault in the abs system. And to switch it off, you need to press and hold the button below the 'set' button. To get abs back on, simply switch off the bike and start it up again.

Manual is at home and I am away from home. The ABS light only lights on when I start it, then once in motion it disappears iirc, will have to check again today.

        So this is normal?

What happens when you turn ABS off? The light stays constantly on?

The ABS light as mentioned in above post, turns on with the ignition key and turns off when you start moving. To turn ABS off just press and hold the button below the "set" button and when the light starts to flicker then ABS is turned off. This light will continue to flicker until ABS is turned back on. The ABS is on by default, so every time you turn on the ignition the ABS is turned on.

Yes, that's how its supposed to function normally.

This accident occurred in Tamil nadu and the guy was riding a Duke 390 . This accident occurred when he was trying to overtake the bus from left and he list balance and cane under the wheels . He died on spot . Let he RIP and even the bike .

Meanwhile I booked my orange on Nov 1st after so much thought . My parents were and are dead against it . My relatives are jealous . I don't know how my existing bike (fz) feels about getting a new powerful friend or angry that my attention will be now divided but I'm so eager and feeling so happy to have booked this bike .

Anybody has any info on when the price will be increased . I don't want to keep waiting for my bike and the rate is increased . I have an option to take delivery from Indira nagar showroom next week but have to cancel my booking from banshankari branch and loose 4k

The mekhri circle ktm already told me that in a month or so the prices might increase.. I don't know for sure and congratulations for booking your new orange.. Even my pulsar feels neglected.. I thought of giving it to my budding rider brother so that it stays in the same home cause taking an rc out to buy grocery doesn't look nice atleast to me.. So kept my pulsar for the shopping.. Although I did run small errands one thing I can tell you from experience the bags doesn't slip and come to the end of the bar as used to happen in my pulsar.. You have to keep the bag handle between the gap of the clutch grip and the console for indicators. Rc doesn't have the gap but the bags doesn't skid.. I may sound stupid by telling all this.. Just thought of sharing real life experience.. :-P

I am considering to buy the rc. Is there any problems faced by the existing owners I should be aware of.

I guess every rc owner out here are just new to the bike.. So they are not the best judges.. If you really wish for a detailed report wait up for a long term review of the bike.. I'm sure someone will put a long term review after 1000kms or first servicing.. from a perspective of a new owner and new to the bike I can say the only problems I face is the vibrations when the engine is low rpm below 3-4k rpm and that's a common thing.. If you can live with that I don't think you will regret anymore and enjoy the sheer pleasure of raw power (not as much of the hooliganism of the duke 390 but that of a linear power delivery) and knee down cornering you should definitely go for one.. eyes closed.. But yeah city commuting is a pain in the rc (because of the hard clutch) but every time you ride the bike in the long stretches and corners I'm sure it will put a smile on your face..

I know its early. But as you know the first batch of Duke 390 had many problems like the hot starting problem, fork oil leak, electrical problems, engine oil leaks etc. Any such problems reported by anyone?

What exactly do you mean? Do you mean whether these problems were reported to ktm? If so the answer is yes they were and the newer lots are more or less problem free. Or did you mean if these problems were reported here? If so the answer is again yes. Go back to the duke threads and read the first few pages or even some pages in the middle, you'll see.

No man.. As much as I know no rc's were reported with any leakage or any manufacturing defects..

Completed 1762 kms on odo.. Must say rc 390 is an amazing bike.bike has very few vibrations now at low rpm and I can go at 45 kmph in 5th gear without lugging. Earlier, Bike would lug at 45 kmph in 4th gear.

That sounds really promising!! I believe you would have completed the first service as well. My service is due in next 300 odd kms. Anything in particular I should keep in mind? Thanks in advance!!
