You would need to always have a can of fuel with RC390 in those thin air regions. I think the biggest drawback in KTMs is the tank capacity.
I was of the same opinion
You cannot assume the final full tank to be 10ltrs, you can't let it run dry! Have to assume it to be 8ltrs safe-side(if I was feeling optimistic about it) or even 7(my recommendation!
I think I'll go for a ViaTerra Claw and some extra jugaad if required :P (Please find the Ad for my Cramster saddle bags implied)

Booked the RC390 today (oops! yesterday) from KTM Bund garden,Pune.. hv been following this thread for last few weeks.. initially thought of booking RC200 but i wanted a bigger upgrade from the existing 160cc bike (RTR 160) so at last booked the 390.
wanted a bike for the weekend trips to the places around Pune and to ride on the highways, so i decided to buy 390 against 200.. for daily commuting in traffic i think RTR is good enough ( from the reviews from the owners figured out that riding 390 in heavy traffic is a torture for this bike)
will be watching this thread for the next couple of months.. eagerly waiting for delivery!
    Congrats buddy
Do tell the tentative waiting period claimed for your bike?
I've booked mine around end-October at Baner,Pune. They said I can expect delivery by November-end. (No commitment though )

xrohit - CBR 250R fits all your requirements best - faired bike, non-committed rather pretty much upright riding stance so not going to be uncomfortable for those who aren't sure about supersport riding stance, great for commuting and touring as has been proven many times by many people, good quality brakes and good VFM bike in general and, as typical of japanese bikes, highly reliable and nautanki free in general...

Yes, I did consider that option briefly until I rode that bike. Some factors that led me to drop the CBR were:
        1. The CBR 250R is heavier than the 220.
        2. The 250cc mill produces just about 5bhp extra power than the 220.
Both these factors when combined, the CBR wouldn't be quite so much of an UPGRADE for me.

These were the biggest blockers. Some other petty but couldn't ignore things, were:
        1. They come with crappy Conti tyres.
        2. Inspite of being drastically less powerful than the RC, the mileage figures ain't very very drastic.
        3. I have a very lean body structure, which makes the CBR a bit bulky for me (Not really a point, just a thought)
        4. The price difference between the ABS version and RC isn't huge.

I TOTALLY agree with your point that it's currently the most suitable bike for my use-case. Should I have been upgrading from an rtr, I would've definitely opted for the CBR.
I would have been dilemma-free had the CBR300 been launched or even committed to be launched this year I just loved its specs!

Idiots with total disregards for others property. Please be very careful when and where you park your bike. I am very particular, and will not mind paying a few bucks to park it securely next to the security guard.

Man! Just when I thought I was having a bad day.. In true Bangalore style, someone left a scratch on my bike when I parked it at a mall. Looks like a job done with a key. Though not as bad as Aaron's, it still pinches you.

Sorry about what happened to you Aaron_dagger.

In this country where there are people who can steal a small plastic Ganesh effigy stuck on a bike, anything is possible. Though you can't do jack about what people do to your bike behind your back, I suggest you do what I do, which is to kick their asses in revenge when you catch them red handed in the act. Make em pay for the others mistakes made behind your back as well as what they did or tried to do.
