Hey guys. I am new to xBhp.
I was one of the early birds to get the hands on the RC 390. Got it delivered on the 24th of October. I must say, it is a monster, though I haven't yet got the chance to rev beyond 5k RPM (as advised so) Can't wait for the post-first-service ride!!
I need to install a crash guard on the bike.. As you know, even a small accident will damage the fairing and it will cost a fortune to fix. I searched if it is available in any e-commerce site. Had no luck with it. Any leads?

I think if you fall and damage the fairing , your bike will still look better than when with a crash guard. Please don't !!

I dont think he is talking about the crash gaurds you are thinking (like the leg gaurd of enfield lol) ... he means frame sliders etc. Available as a KTM powerpart as well I believe ...

Hey guys, the rear brake lever when pressed touches the fairing (the plastic part covering the exhaust). Has anyone else seen it? Because of this, the part which it touches has become black.

It shouldn't do that. Get a replacement at the earliest. Tell them to replace the stud which holds it in place as well.
On the same note, did you check the fairing to see if it isn't buldging?

I don't think fairing is bulging but will check. Can anything be done for the blackened portion?

Yes. Sticker job. Choose a good logo to put on it.

Done with first service today! Some quick observations:

                  1. Changed oil. It takes nearly 1.5L of Motul 7100 FS 10W40. Supplied by Service Center. Changed oil filter as well.
                  2. Chain was cleaned and lubed with OKS lube.
                  3. Tried fixing the right RVM which points to sky by adding two washers. The trick works but sadly, the offset this causes is far less desirable. So, the jugaad fails there. However, the RVM is stable is with no vibrations so this might work for some one who's right RVM is slightly offset for his height.
                  4. Fixed the projector beams which were pointing too high. Doing this is damn simple. Both projectors are independently adjustable via a screw present on the bottom outside just beside the projector accessible from behind through a regular Philips screwdriver. Will try and add picture of the same tomorrow.
                  5. Something as basic as changing oil requires at least 30 mins to complete the task since it involves removing belly pan which is held by several screws needing both screwdriver and Allen key.
                  6. Torque spread has improved considerably and a twist of wrist is enough to approach warp speed in any gear. Even the vibes are much less. Though I hope they will go down further.
                  6. Rest all was fine so followed the "Don't fix if ain't broken" philosophy.

Guys, I need some advice here...
Its been 10 days since my first service, last weekend i was gng somewhere and had driven only around 6 KM in medium traffic and suddenly the coolant temperature warning came which surprised me as there was no reason for that to appear but i thought might be some small electronic issue or something and i ignored it as the warning immediately went away.

Now yesterday, I was driving on the highway at night 09:30 in very cold weather and when i reached city it was minimal traffic almost nil, but suddenly the bike jerked and stopped and on the display the coolant temperature warning was blinking, this was again surprising as there was no reason for that to happen given that i was on highway in very cool temperatures.

Previously I had ridden in heavy traffic for a very long time, ridden at 167 KMPH but the temperature warning never came.

I am not able to understand here why is temperature warning is coming when it is least expected.

Looks like your temperature sensor is screwed up. Get to the svc and let them check it and replace if necessary.

Ok so its been a week i got the bike.
only short stints with it yet.
                          some observations:
The rpm meter is almost useless. the fonts are so small. contemplating to put an auxiliary rpm guage.
downshifting is a joy along with that blip of the throttle. its butter smooth.
but upshifting to 1st and 2nd is plain crude.
have not used the rear brakes much but looks like its satisfactory.
in fact you use the brakes way less as engine braking is massive.
taking it to max of 6k for now even then it demolishes everything else on the road. cant wait to see her singing around 9k rpm.
overall it seems like a brilliant fun tool. no problems yet. i am grinning ear to ear.
ktm ludhiana has been pretty supportive too.
kudos bajaj! i am in love again.

But my biggest fear is the service guys wont be able to judge and colclude properly....any case lets see going to SVC is the only option that we have...

Congrats and all the best..A few comments:

                              1. Pls dont restrict the engine to 6k RPM. The manual specifies 7.5k RPM - take it to that level atleast. Further, once done with a few hundred kms, take it beyond 7.5 too - occasionally and gradually.

                              2. I had the same initial feed wrt the RPM meter but trust me, you would get used to it.

                              3. Like u said, engine braking is massive, really massive.

Thank you. I went to SVC and was told that my brake pedal must have hit something because of which it got bent although I am sure it didn't touch anything. The service manager also said that they have replaced the pedal on a quite a few bikes as it seems to be bend with slightest of hit. When I went there, luckily they had one last piece left. Had to pay Rs. 472 for it. Regarding the blackened part, he said they have received the white paint of fairing but there's something else which needs to be put before the paint which they don't have. Will get it painted at 1st service.
