i hope you are not the guy from hyderabad whose gear shift lever fell off and then the next day the bike had more problems ?!Originally posted by puneetvashisht View PostYes, I had first service two weeks ago.make sure they tighten all the nuts and screws.last week I was riding and nut connecting gear shaft to pedal opened and I was stuck in 6 gear for next 20 kms.
Something definitely points to poor quality/workmanship by bajaj. Is there some kind of a strike going on at their plants and some disgruntled employees are not doing their job properly

Lol..no I am not that guy.I am from delhi and this is not about poor quality /workmanship, just due to high initial vibrations, nut loosen up and they must have forgot to tighten it during first service.Originally posted by s1d View Posti hope you are not the guy from hyderabad whose gear shift lever fell off and then the next day the bike had more problems ?!

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Guys.. I'm done with 363 kms in my rc.. F.e. Is still a problem.. Just getting 17-18 kmpl (brim to reserve) cause because of mainly bumper to bumper traffic and very rare highway stretches. But one thing I noticed the because the vibrations in low rpm a constant 'grrrr' sound accompanied by a loose screws sound is coming. Maybe I have to tighten up the screws. Anyone facing this problem? This 'loose screws' sound was not there at first. Should I wait till first servicing to check it out? Is it just the screws or something else??

Better Go and get it checked, this kind of sound is not normal.Originally posted by aj.mechie View PostGuys.. I'm done with 363 kms in my rc.. F.e. Is still a problem.. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I commute on my RC on a day to day basis ( From Silk Board to Marathahalli - since you are from Bangalore, you will know the traffic in this route).I'm getting 27kmpl.Originally posted by aj.mechie View PostGuys.. How are you gear changes? Rev it up to 6k and then shift? Do you shift down and ensure you are in the right rpm ? Do think about your riding habits, and if you still believe that you should get good FE, please get it checked asap! If nothing is wrong, atleast you will get peace of mind
I have been having this trouble with the RC, everyday when I start, for the first few kms the bike is jittery. The feeling when you are running low on fuel and the engine feels like it's going to shut off? I read about the problems created by bad fuel and issues related to FI, any idea how to check this?
I used one full tank from IndianOil and then been running on Shell for almost 2 full tanks.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I have been following what balgi had said.. I shift between 4.5k to 6k and very rarely above 6k but never ever crossed 7.5k rpm. How did you calculate your fe.? I use brim to reserve method. I have used one shell full tank that time I got a 15kmpl. And two times indian oil and I only fuel up in the morning times. I'm really hoping that after first servicing things will change. But my speed most of the times reaches 60 and hardly stays within 60 to 80. And maybe as balgi said the 390's are thirsty till 60kmph. I will be visiting the service centre day after tomorrow let's see what they say and get the noise checked. Fingers crossed..Originally posted by Newbie101 View PostI commute on my RC on a day to day basis ( From Silk Board to Marathahalli - since you are from Bangalore, you will know the traffic in this route).I'm getting 27kmpl.

Firstly, identify the exact origin of the sound on an empty road and if possible post a video so we can help.
Secondly, the low fe is because your using the throttle in traffic. As much as possible in really slow bumper to bumper traffic try to use only the clutch. The bike has enough torque to easily manage a speed of 18-20kmph with just the torque in second gear.
Thirdly, don't baby the bike too much. The proper speed per gear for rc 390 is 20kmph at 1st, 30kmph on 2nd, 45kmph on 3rd, 60kmph on 4th. For rc200 the speed per gear for 1st to 3rd is same and 4th gear speed is 55kmph. Don't use 5th and 6th gear unless you know you have the roads for it. This applies post first service as well. If you follow this guide the vibrations should be down by as early as 2500kms and I guarantee an fe of 25-27kmpl minimum.
Also get the bike to svc asap for the sound. I think a screw from the fairing maybe loose. Is the sound constant or does it happen at a set rpm? Coz if its set rpm vibration then it is the tank cap.
Hope this helps

No real way to check it except by changing fuel filter and spark plug. If after change the problem persists then its the fuel pump. In which case your bike better be under warranty as the fuel pump is 5k INR for the dukes. Also get the tank cleaned while your at it. Of course if the spark plug is shorted that is a clear sign the fuel pump is gone.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
That sound is coming only in lower rpms. Before it was just vibrations in low speeds now there is just this addition sound. I will try to put a video bro. If the sounds weren't there initially, then you should take it back to the showroom/service center and get it checked.Originally posted by aj.mechie View PostGuys.. I'm done with 363 kms in my rc.. P.S- Bikes (any bike) which are new are NOT suppose to make any unusual sounds.
