Well i think that will do the work of soft handling too

Yeah I hated it even before I bought it, but I was sold out by the engine and the VFM angle.

And here is the tail lamp every one is asking about, still in development phase.

Already trying to install, still in development phase check out the temp mod in the time being.

Suggestion would be appreciated from every one.

Hey bro nice work so far!

I believe the ZMR (2014) taillight will look good on the RS but it will require some work on your part. It's a good looking light but somehow doesn't gel with the ZMR since it is quite a big and bulky bike.

Just my opinion, I wonder if someone will ever try it!

Do keep us posted and hope you get well soon!

Hello Guys!!

One month ownership report:

So its been around a month now since i got hold of my RS. A lot has happened already. The ODO stands at around 750, with 1st service done at 725Km, and my RS, along with me being in Chennai have gone through best and worst of weather and road conditions. From open national and state highways to stand still gridlocked traffic(for more than 5 Hrs), free-flowing tarmac to free-flowing water, plains to hills and to top it all through cyclone as well. Had a road trip of 600KM. I had not got hold of proper internet to put all these things here, so i will go through whole month experience in one shot. Word of caution-Long post coming up. People can avoid the long drama and read only the bullet points given in bold below, if they want.

I had taken delivery of RS on 31 OCT. It was raining at that time itself, and city was with heavy traffic. Rode 45Km in traffic and reached home. i was busy with work the whole week that i was able to take the bike out only once for a small spin. On Thursday, after thinking i decided to go on a RUN-IN Ride. I had planned to give 1st service at around 700km. So i had to cover a round trip of approx. 600KM. After searching for places in 300KM radius, decided the route as Chennai-Horseley Hiils-Talakona Falls-Chennai. Started from chennai on 6th Nov, sat at 8.30AM from tambaram. Rode till entrance of vellore in 6 lane highway and open stretches are a bliss. But, since the bike was in Run-in had to maintain rpm between 4-5k and that came to around 50-60kmph in 6th gear. It was a pain to restrain myself from speeding up. Before Vellore, took a right toward chittor and the road i a two lane state highway and it was easier to maintain the run-in speed as well as varying the rpm. It has stopped raining after kanchipuram and the climate was better than awesome. the roads were good enough and route was scenic with enough greenery. Comfortably reached madanapalle, by 3 and started climbing hills. Went with pillion and two backpacks. Had to keep mostly in first 3 gears to get good traction, but the bike faired very well. Reached Horsley Hiils by 4.30 and enoyed the viewed stayed for the night. Started from there on 7th Nov.Sunday at 11AM towards talakona waterfalls. The route is very beautiful and roads are amazingly good and curving every now and then. Had a smooth and enoyable ride. Reached talakona waterfalls by 3PM and enoyed till 6. The posture and seats are comfortable. I didnt have much pain, except in my wrist since i was coming from disc125. The bike seat wants us to go further and further pushing more. i took breaks keeping in mind that i was in run-in and have to gie engine rest. Or else i would have stretched some more. Even the pillion was comfortable enough to feel safe behind me and also enoy the ride in a relaxed manner. I had slowly pushed the rpm till 7.5kRPM couple of times. The bike vibrates a little around 4.5-5K RPM and it vanishes after that.

Suddenly after 6PM it became dark very soon. Had some snacks and started from talakona at 7. The rain which had stopped at kanchipuram the day before, didnt come back till now. We started towards Tirupati, and it started to drizzle. The route goes through some ghat section and as soon as we entered that all hell broke loose. It rained like it was no tomm. It was ghat section and no where to stop and even if some place would have been there i didnt want to stop in that region. Tirupati was ust 40Km away. Best thing was the head lights. It showed as much as possible. If it wasnt that light, i would have surely stopped. The rain was pouring that much. We reached tirupati at 9PM took, entered city and took a break for the rain to reduce and it did reduce to a drizzle. Started from tirupati at 945PM. We came through, thirupati-puttur-thiruthani-thiruvallur-sriperumbuthur-tambaram. All along the rain didnt stop at all. If anyone had come through this route would be knowing that, the full route is setup in plains with highway running through open barren lands on both sides. The result is we get a lot of cross-winds. Imagine that cross winds during rain. It was too much. I can feel the winds trying the push the bike sideways. But, the RS held on to the road amazingly. It was super stable. I can feel the winds on me and on the bike but i can see the bike staying on course. I was surprised and happy at the same time. I knew it was stable on highways but i never expected it to be this much better with cross winds. So may places i didnt notice the unmarked speed breakers and tried to slow at the last moment, but still hit the breakers at quite some speed. The RS faired well there too. No loss in stability, no issues with forces hitting us. Reached thiruvallur by 1115PM and followed google maps towards Aavadi and it was a big mistake. It took us towards a route which was a road with width 3/4th the width of a usual state highway. But, the problem was not the width, it was the potholes. The road was filled with pot holes. I could go beyond 30kmph and it was real torture. I went through this road for some 4 or 5 km and decided i cant go further. But, good thing was i got to feel the ride quality of RS. The damping is perfect. Retraced back to thiruvallur and checked another route towards sriperumbuthur. It satrted pouring again with winds lashing us all the way till we entered tambaram. Reached home at 2 and RS was ready to be run again. The next day only i came to know that cyclone had past through the previous night in northern part of tamil nadu and southern part of andra pradesh. I had ridden all through the cyclone and the bike had survived it to bring us safe home.

I wanna confirm the fact which blackout had mentioned few pages earlier about RS running through head light level water. We both stay in the same apartment and he was lucky enough to take his bike out of the apartment, though it was under hip level water. The water was indeed at hip level on the roads and knee level inside the parking area. I was out of town and by the time i came back too chennai my apartment was inaccessible and my RS200 and DISC 125ST had been standing in knee deep water for couple of days. I was very worried, about water entering silencer and thereby engine, rust being formed and since RS was having lot of electricals, that going kaput. One of my neighbour had generously sealed my both bikes with plastic as much as he could. I was waiting impatiently for the water to even reduce to a level for me to get into the apartment for checking the status, and after little bit of draining, i entered the apartment to see the water level ust touching the silencer. No idea what was the worst case water level. I was praying it shouldnt have gone above silencer and entered the engine. The day later surprisingly the water receded and I took half day off from office to run and check my both bikes. Reached there with another neighbour who had his R15 standing in the same state as mine. Opened the plastic covers on his silencer and fired his engine. After one failed attempt it came to life. Water started sprayin out of his silencer and also pouring out in small amounts from the drain hole. his bike was very much in good state. We left his bike to idle and went to check mine. Now, with nervous beating heart, turned the ignition on and saw the usual checks being done and heard the sound of fuel pump getting started. Little relieved , pressed the starter button, and in first touch the bike started without even a small sprut. I was happy. Left it to idle and inspected the bike as much as i could. All electricals seem to work fine and everything was in order. There was only a small glitch. Since the chain and sproackets were under water the lube had gone and it was totally dry. So ran to my home and got my TVS lube which i had and lavishly applied on the chain. I dont have a paddock Stand, so it was a pain to move the bike little by little and apply the lube. But, i was happy that everything was in order. Next went on to check the DISC125ST. It started in first shot as well and to my surprise the lube on chain sprockets were still intact and untouched. I now was wondering what happened on my RS, then i remembered that ever since i got my RS i didnt check about the chain, since i was under the impression that these lazy good for nothing idiot would have applied good lube while delivering. These people had done nothing and i was an idiot too for not checking properly. and that TVS lube is good enough and very good.

Couple of days later on 23rd Nov took my RS from tambaram at 8.30PM to go to my uncles place in Mandaveli. Worst decision taken. The distance is 26km and i reached their place at 145AM. Due to rains the whole city was gridloacked. Without any choice i had tested the flickability of the bike. Though the turning radius is big, i got used to the bike and was getting manageable at flicking it through gaps.

Highlight points about RS which i had experienced and liked a lot.:
1. The bike is specially made for highways. It is heavy in a good way and super stable in straight line and in corners too.
2. It gives a damn to cross winds. Its super glued to tarmac.
3. MRF Tires are very good. Gives confidence in both dry and wet to same level.
4. The suspension engineers who had worked on RS had done a wonderful wok in finding the balance between ride quality and handling. It is stable over bad roads damping the roughness. Remains composed enough in over any pothole it may be. With little much of cornering done till now, the bike feel stable in corners too.

5. Since i was ridden through rain i didnt take much break in my return leg of my trip. The engine didnt give any tantrum. My disc125st and other bikes from the company generally becomes rough after an hour or two of running. But, RS engine had made more refined and robust, It can sustain more hours of running between breaks.
6. The bike has some good quality components of electricals which stand heavy rains.
7. It a pain to ride in B2B traffic(according to me it not designed for that). Though manageable to an extent, Unlike R15, which has lesser wait and good flickability, this RS is heavy and less flickable. If someone wants a faired bike only for city and nil highway i will suggest u stay away from this.
8. The seats and posture are very comfortable to both rider and pillion that we can stretch more running hours.
9. During rains, the lube which the service center applies is nof no use, we need to apply other lubes and keep a watch on that.
10. There are vibration between 4.5-5k RPM. Nothing much, manageable only. It vanishes after 5k RPM and bike becomes smooth.

So overall was satisfied that both bikes which was from a company spoken for low quality had withstood thrashings from nature. My trust on both bikes has increased mainfold. They may need bit more care but surely they withstand. Hope the hold on the same way many more years.

Apologize for no pictures and ust text. I wasnt able to get any with harsh climate. Thanks for sustaining through the heavy text.

I came to know emm is living in my apartment after seeing his bike pics he posted here.. when we introduced ourselves we had a chat regarding bikes and he was kind enough to tight my fairings... also offered to show me how to lube the chain.. Unfortunately we were n't able to do that due to power failure... I was riding with dry chain for more than a month atlast it started to give me screeching sound even audible at moderate speed... Got the Chain lube spray(TRU SPRAY) from TVS as recommeded by emm 380 Rs..spent around 30 mins for lubing the bike.. As itis real pain to move the bike manually to clean and lube.. screeching sound has gone and lot smoother now ...I cleaned the chain using Kerosene... Is it alright??

Sure bro. We will plan some trip soon. Thanks for reminding about the fairings. Had forgot about those. Will add about those now

During our run-in we keep our bikes at around 4-5k rpm all the time. The fairings may be having a resonance at that band. So it keeps on vibrating during our run in time. This results in the screws on fairing become loose and it starts to vibrate more. After my odo crossed 325km the vibration was very much prominent for me to hear the sound so I took both Allen keys and star screw driver and tightened the fairing and the windshield. All noise and vibes gone. We may have to follow this till we finish our run in and start riding at a different rpm band. So, if at all ur fairing starts to vibe, fret not. Just tighten the screws yourself.

Out of the storm, Had noticed couple of times rs recently near tambaram, not sure if it could be one you guys. Anyway diesel is better for chain wash compared to kerosene. It's a good degreasing agent.

Couldn't stop appreciating for your write up. It was all good, but some pictures would have spoken a lot. You could try yelagiri trip which is comparatively shorter and roads are good. I have ridden tirupathi-thiruthani-thiruvallur-mudichur route several times. The roads are good and scenic. Also try carrying some repair kits when you trip long beyond 200kms.

Ride at safe speed, remember our NH roads are only as good to carry speed of 90-110max....

I am wanting to finish my run-in sooner and feel the Wind and date the speed with RS200.

Guys, I am facing huge difficulty halting in neutral. 1-N is always very difficult but 2-N is smooth.

I found that I am too sensitive and keen to get neutral from 1st gear which makes me hold the clutch fully and that is the issue. When i tried with half clutch, it happens smooth shift from 1-N-2 and 2-N-1.

Later, I noted that half clutch is working smooth and ease for gear shifting while riding too. Is it same for all or only with me?
I worry about clutch plate and gear box damaging if clutch is improperly engaged.

First time 1-N-2 type gearbox style will confuse people and they will have a lot trouble in getting to neutral from 1st or from 2nd. However the key fact is, the pressure point, which you normally apply to for shifting other gears has to be one half when trying to reach neutral. In most running cases you will do it, but the problem comes when you search neutral when the bike is stopped on gear.

1. Reduce your pressure to half than normal
2. Push your bike a little forward or backward while shifting.

Clutch can be applied as usually. Nothing like half clutch or full clutch for neutral. The clutch play lever can be adjusted as per rider needs. But some Svc guys warn users against changing it as it will result in clutch wear, but that's common.

Hi.. Till first service my bike had full clutch setting... SVC changed that to half clutch setting, it was so annoying as i was not used to it.. So took my bike back to them to change it full clutch.. but SVC supervisor and mechanic advised me have half clutch as it will extend the life time of clutch plate also it is recommended by company itself.. Later i learned it is easy to shift in half clutch and bike showed improvement in acceleration as i can give power as soon as the gear was shifted.

As you said, gear shifting is butter smooth(very minimal flick of gear lever is enough) in half clutch.. but in the beginning days of using half clutch.. every time when i shift from 1 to 2 in traffic signal it will go to neutral and engine screeeeeeams. it was so embarrassing. Later i learned to shift hard(flicking the gear level as high as i could) from 1 to 2.. for rest of the gears minimal flick will do good but only on the flat or descending roads. I noticed that when i do very minimal flick while climbing overbridges, gear is automatically shifting down from 3rd to 2nd for example. So i always apply gear bit harder when climbing on the bridge.. Did anyone notice this..
