Hi Vicky ,

Thanks for the input...I was originally going for a TNT 300 as the 600i was above my budget. But then I was this ad of someone close to my place selling his 600i , bought in oct 17, ran 3800 kms and after negotiating finally agreed for Rs 6.5 lakhs. So, I thought , why not and its the colour liket too...white.

I see that the saddle bags are touching the exhausts..You dont need a frame for keeping it steady and not get burned? Will the straps keep it away from the tyres? I had shortlisted the Via Terra Falcon bags

Pardon me for raising so many questions. My sole idea for this bike is touring and have to be sure about everything before I go for it.. Adding another 2.5 lakhs to the budget is not easy ...

Hey,
The Stock Exhausts comes with shield cover so it does not heat up, so no frame is required for saddle bags. Only the inner pipe visible from behind heats up.
The gap between the tyre and the tail is quite too much so usually the straps are far from the tyre, still to be safe the straps should be tied above the bags somewhere to prevent any damages.

Rear seat heats up a little but not much on highways. In bumper to bumper traffic it can be a problem.
Hi,how easy to remove and add stock exhausts? DIY? Or need to go to svc again?

Benelli is providing the warranty even after the first owner change???? I have seen only triumph and ducati having unconditional warranty from date of purchase. Now a days lot of pre owned 600i are there. I think due to high maintanance cost and short service intervals.

Anuglx.... Warranty is on the machine.. Ownership does not matter..

Lots happened in the past week. I had called the showroom again for the new price and availability. They said the new stock will come only end April. And it could be 1st week of May also. The reason is the seperation of DSK and until that is completed no stock will be sent. Showroom manager is saying Benelli will deal directly.

Since getting the bike is getting delayed and if it comes only in May, I can hardly enjoy the bike a few weeks as in June the rains will come in Kochi. So I started looking for options and by coincidence there was this 600i in Olx for sale. It was in Trivandrum about 220 kms from my town. I put a fair figure and the guy agreed to my surprise. Then I called him up and he said he is disposing it because he is finding it difficult to ride as he is not very tall and he is going for Z900. Not believing the whole story and since I wanted to see the bike, ride it to make sure I can handle it and also that my wife will be comfortable in the pillion we went drove down.

The bike was absolutely scratchless, except some marks on the grabrail, which had happened as he had tied his bag there for a trip. I took her for a ride. I was very nervous due to the size and weight, unsure whether I can handle it. But about 200 mts into the ride all my fears vanished. She was a breeze on the move ! You just dont feel you are driving a 230 kg bike. Then I took my wife on the pillion and she just loved the back seat and the suspension.

The bike had just run 3500 kms and finished first service and he was going to give it for the second one this week. As I wanted to take the service package, I asked him to bring the bike to Kochi and not to do the service there...I was not confident of driving 4 hours in a higher cc class bike. We finalised the deal , a lakh down from the showroom price....and he actually drove it down to Kochi yesterday ! ! Gave it for service and took delivery in the evening.

Unfortunately I got out of office late and from the service center, and hit peak bumper to bumper traffic...The bike does get hot, but not uncomfortable....but man, was it difficult..somehow got it to my flat. I thought maybe I made a mistake taking this bike..but then my wife said, we took it for touring, not to ride in city and lets take it to the temple early morning....

And today morning 7 am , what a drive on the empty roads ! ! I forgot all about yesterdays struggle...She is a gem on open roads..this is a pure long distance bike...Solid, seamless power delivery ( I am not a fan of neck jolting acceleration anyway), well balanced, excellent front brakes ( back ones are a disappointment)...pulls from as low as 20 km of 5th gear...

Its a matter getting used to the dynamics of big bike....I know I really streched my budget ( my actual budget was only 4, which itself was stretch !)....but my wife chipped in saying " its now or never!"...So I guess once in a lifetime we are allowed to go crazy and indulge ourselve

I used the larger Claw bag for my latest trip from Hyderabad to Mumbai and back.
No issues with heating or bag catching fire . I have stock exhaust.
The only problem is getting on and off is a pain in the dedicates, unless you are a gymnast/ballet dancer/martial artist.

On my next trip to state side, i will purchase a GIVI PL8701 pannier rack assembly and buy the luggage box locally. That should get me some good enough clearance and comfort on long trips.

I just finished 14 months on my 600i - ABS.
15000 km done , mostly in friday office trips and and some very long distance touring.
The bike's power delivery is spot on. Especially when driving in city roads.
Since i am more of a cruising type of guy, i've replaced the rear sprockets with 300's 44T and front with a 16T Sprocket sourced from Aliexpress ( check for 200x year FZ-6 models for reference ). This makes the pickup much more slower, but i can cruise at 120 on 6th without revving the engine too hard or with the high RPM buzz.
(My GF loves driving the CBR250R. It has good vibrations )

Seats are nice, but i eventually ended up with a Gel seat add on.
Headlight assembly could use a makeover to give it a proper Benelli royal look.
Gear box is "Butter Chicken" quality. Fell in love with it in seconds.

I've had some issues with electrical, especially after a wash or rains causing indicators and lights to go haywire, and the horn issue currently requiring a warranty replacement.
But absolutely no issues with engine, chassis, suspension or braking. Considering the terrain and temperature i've put this bike through, i am very much impressed. I'll give it 9/10. Properly engineered motorcycle.

Bike draws attention, especially the rear side brings all the boys to the yard. I'm a medium barrel chest built, so it suits me perfectly.
Love the inline 4 growl. I liked the stock to aftermarket mods. The exhaust is low frequency smooth growl, not irritating, but can turn into a roar above 6000RPM when required.

Complaints
The front headlight is too..... unicornish......
More aggressive details on tank and side like the 899 required
2 more liters of fuel tank capacity required
And it could use a bit of weight loss
Draws unnecessary ( and sometimes hooligan behavior )attention from local squids.
Increased oil change frequency. My oil remains clean and has a proper pinkish hue even after 5000km. Knowing it is Synthetic, it can last up to 8000km if properly driven and maintained. Besides, mandatory change at 4000km is only going to result in oil getting wasted and harming the environment.

Parts replaced till now
1. Horn ( warranty )
2. Left side mirror assembly ( crack due to slight over tightening of the nut )
3. Rear brake pads. Had the brake pedal slightly tightened to prevent accidental pressure from riding boot causing the rear brake to engage and wear out.
4. Left side fairing and rear left protector bolt ( some Teens fooling around with it , taking selfies moved the bike and it fell on the left side )
5. Had to change the front key lock (warranty ), which would result in sometimes electrical not turning on after switching off.

Mods.
1. Custom Windshield fabricated from my current cbr250R's old windshield.
2. RiderSofa gel seat.
3. Delrin slider protectors
4. Custom sprocket rations (front and back)
5. Tapped a 12V outlet from the rear brake light for charging on handle bars.
6. GPS security system with motion sensor alarm hidden deep in the bike. Requires a complete tear down to disable. Only disables with an RFID hob that is with me all the time.
7. Dual Raspberry pi based front and rear dash cam, with video upload to cloud if WiFi is available.
8. A number plate sticker that says "If you can read this, BACK AWAY SLOWLY!!!! "

I used to own a CBR600F4i in Pune ( sold it before moving to Hyd ). I'd put TNT600i right next to it in terms of riding pleasure. However, only time will tell how reliable it is compared to my old Honda.

Nicely written,

Willing to give 2 suggestions,

1. Go for AMC. Oil change only at 8k kms and not at 4k.

2. Bike mirror. Pls go for, Pulsar ns200 mirrors, its a direct fit and looks nice on 600i.

Going to check with showroom on AMC. My motorcycle came with a 4 year warranty, so need to check what additional options i can fit here. Right now, i am purchasing my own oil ( in bulk) to save on tax.

Checked the N200 mirrors on Google images. Surprisingly look nice with the angular "Stealth fighter" look. But i am attempting to source the mirrors with integrated indicators. Lets see if i can get the best of both worlds.

Cheers !!!!

Hey guys, I’ve owned Big Torpedo (tnt600i) for almost 5 months and I’ve got the ixil xtrem 60 slip on installed. I love how the bike sounds and looks. But I really wanna get rid of the rear fender and fit the number plate using custom clamps to the place where the fender and exhaust are bolted together. And this setup would result in me not having indicators. Is there anyone who uses a tail lamp with integrated blinkers? Or does anyone know where I can get them?
Cheers,
Ady

I am looking for suggestions on getting a Pannier Rack for Benelli 600i. The problem statement here are

1. Maintain the awesome looking underseat exhaust.
2. Should be affordable.

GIVI pannier kit is way to expensive and BN600GT pannier kit requires removing the under seat exhaust, and installing custom rearset.

Anyone has experience or guidance on this ?

Thanks

The Stock Exhausts comes with shield cover so it does not heat up, so no frame is required for saddle bags. Only the inner pipe visible from behind heats up.
The gap between the tyre and the tail is quite too much so usually the straps are far from the tyre, still to be safe the straps should be tied above the bags somewhere to prevent any damages.
Hi Vicky,

I just came back from a ride with my Rynox bags...After reaching back home after two days as I was unsaddling the bags , I noticed that both the exhaust shields have been badly scratched....I think it can be rectified by giving the shields to be powder coated...but it’s going to happen again for the next ride.....what do you do to protect the shields?

Hi,
Yes it happened with me as well. To
keep the exhaust cover safe from scratches, you keep a towel or a thick cloth on the rear seat which is big enough to cover the exhausts (sideways)
as well, and then place the rynox saddle bags.
