I use the following process every 800-1000kms. Or, if I start getting vibes on my foot pegs or hear noise from my chains. Which usually is earlier if I ride in rain or dusty environment.
1. Spray Chain Cleaner (I moved over to Diesel as it's affordable and cleans better) - Leave it on for 10 Mins.
2. Use a Chain Brush to scrub the chain all over to loosen the muck.
3. Spray some more Cleaner/Diesel and wash it off with water. The chain will look like it did on my picture.
4. Run the bike for two mins on a paddock or ride it around if you do not have a paddock to get rid of the water on the chains.
5. Apply the chain lube (I use Tribocor Superlube TC 205). It stays longer as it is sticky and I can manage with a 800km lubing interval. Motul/3M do not last more than 500kms. I am planning to switch over to TC212 which is a dry lube, which can stay longer. Costs about the same.
6. Leave the lube on for atleast 30Mins before riding. Leave it overnight for better results.
7. During long rides I carry lube with me. Lube when I end my ride. The hot chain help adhere the lube better onto the chain.
Additionally remember to lube the chain links, where the O Rings are visible. That's where the lube is required. Anywhere else it will be wasted.
Thanks to your detailed write up regarding cleaning the chain, I tried the same method this time for my bike, only I used Motul chain clean instead of diesel, and VOILA...the chain and sprocket looked exactly as new...

Been a silent spectator for some time guys, Hope all are doing well with pleasant incidents to quote.
What is the reason of the rear break pad's cost escalating from almost 700 to 3250... Why aren't you guys questioning the logic. Even My innova's pads don't cost so much.
And the same pads being available at 700 is absolute proof that these guys are taking you for a ride.
As the financial year is coming to an end I had made my mind to go for the benelli 300 as the cost is well within my range of 5 lacs and when it comes to reliability looks like
it is almost at par with most of the Japanese counterparts. I was again disappointed by the cost of the chain sprocket but convinced myself that with better chain maintenance I could adjust with the expense. But the brake pad cost is simply rubbish and I really doubt if I have to become a customer to DSK whose sole aim is to make is to make a chunky profit even if they sold fewer bikes. Don't know confused.

[QUOTE=Shashank Suresh;1284718]At 20900 kms I changed the below
Changing for the first time in 20k odd kms
Chain and sprocket 12.5k
Rear brake pads 4.3k
Clutch cable 1.1k
Shashank,,
Is it the first time you are changing the rear pads? Have you made any special effort by not using them or/using the back brake to the least because I have never come across the pads lasting more than 10 to 12k for any bike.
I have information that 2015 to 2016 they were being sold for as low as 800-1500. Did you question the logic behind them increasing the cost so much... Looks like they have decided to make up for the poor sales by jacking up the prices of frequently used consumables. Those pads are nearly as expensive as the pads for Ducati's Monster rear pads.
Decided to wait further long, (patience is virtue)... If these guys don't seek to correct their service cost.. will wait, collect up money for the Triumph street twin. After all
the service costs are the same as the benelli 300 and the snob and resale value are better(Though availability of spares and service is the of the same poor quality though)

Yes this is the first time I changed the rear brake pads, chain + sprocket kit and the clutch cable.
My rear pads still had life but I was planning on a 1.5-.1.7 k kms ride this weekend and hence changed it to prevent damage to the discs.
Anyways, coming back to your point, I generally use my front brake (hold and release) and feather touch the rear only when required. I am not sure if this is a bad practice or good, but has saved me from panic situations too. I make sure to clean it everytime I step into the service center.
2016 rear brake pads were lesser than Benelli TNT 250's pads. May be DSK took this as an opportunity to hike the prices. I had the chance to ride the Street Twin in the US for around 250 miles and I would choose the ST any day.Its better to sweat than to bleed...

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
It's perfectly normal.Originally posted by @Kamlesh View PostHello everyone,
I just got my TNT 300 black in evening after all formalities I was going home with my new bike and felt heat around my legs. And temperature was between 89 - 94.
Fans ran.
Odometer had 10kms in it.
Showroom guy said coolant is also filled.
Any clue about the heat? Is it normal and will be ok as I ride.
Also the sound from exhaust is not the same as I heard during test ride...
Which bike is that ? ER6N ... ? Glad the technique helped you.Originally posted by kanth View PostThanks to your detailed write up regarding cleaning the chain, I tried the same method this time for my bike, only I used Motul chain clean instead of diesel, and VOILA...the chain and sprocket looked exactly as new...

I have known people for whom the rear brakes have lasted over 15k kms. I guess it's more about braking style of a person. My rear brake pads wear off faster (on my 3rd set) because I always ride with a pillion. My front brakes pads are still stock and have a lot more kms left in them. I have done 24k kms almost.Originally posted by Shashank Suresh View Post

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
My 300 has done 8500 kms and my front brake is giving issues. The rear seems fine. Are you also fachin a similar issue? If so then at what kms mark did you get your brake pads changed and whats the cost?Originally posted by jP5an View PostRegarding these two...
From what i've heard here in mumbai from Owners.. Rear brake pads are dying after 4-7k kms.
And MRF tyres has been stopped due to Sale being non-existent compared to Pirelli ones...

1. They are not procured locally and have to be imported
2. These are dual sintered pads which normally tend to be more expensive.
3. Last I heard was they will be working on reducing costs which may result in having pads from local market.
My Rear brake pads were changed at 17K Kms. I believe in using both front and rear brakes simultaneously for effective deceleration and stopping.
Coming to Chain sprocket, I changed my chain sprocket at 24K Kms. I did take care of it to best of my knowledge but not as well as Binil.
Again it was told that they would be working towards getting chain and sprockets locally which will reduce the cost to a great extent.
Please quote on what exactly is the symptom which made you to feel front brakes are giving issues. It could be an issue with forks as well assuming if you are getting a jerky sound. Also look for any fork oil spillage which will dampen the front brakes affecting braking.Originally posted by medibam View PostMy 300 has done 8500 kms and my front brake is giving issues. Re: Possible Reduction In Service Charges
Hi binil,Originally posted by brokenbinil View PostUpdate -
I got a call from one person in DSK Pune office giving an update on complaints I had made to them regarding the high cost of ownership. It seem's our concerns have been heard. Though I would believe only when I finally see it in person.
I have been told that a new service charges plan is going to be launched in April 2017 which would apparently reduce service costs.
Also added that they are looking at localizing spares like the Chain Sprocket Set & Brake Pads, which would further reduce the cost.
I hope and pray that this would be true and see light of day.
Regards,
Binil

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Sorry fellas, i had no time to update, just got free, i got my bike on Jan.. ive completed my first service and second service.. 4000kms done..
problems faced- starter relay issue, fixed on first service.. had the same issue before second service, they fixed it, but lets see, and today
my horn stopped working, thursday i have a 5 day trip, have no time to fix this for now.. until i come back from trip, not sure what caused, it was getting lower and lower all of a sudden went out, engine is good, but there are minor vibrations above 8K rpm.. mileage was pretty low, and the fuel indicators is kinda tricky to understand.. i was getting around 18-21.. temps went around 96c.. not even once it turned off.. bike is very comfortable.. i neeed to ride longer distance and find out any other issues are there.. loving my bike , apart from these small issues.. and yup service cost and interval time - bad.. they charged me 6.8K for second service.. Update - they said my rear brake pads needs to be replaced.. i told them ill do it later.. and i feel they dint topup the coolant.. its still somewhere on LOW mark..Last edited by punisher; 04-04-2017, 11:40 PM.
