Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
I faced this issue only once may be because of the dirt in fuel line, but there is no knocking. Regarding engine noise, had to get the head changed within two months of purchase though it took me around 45 days to chase them up & get it changed. Hope your issue gets resolved at the earliest.Originally posted by Chennai Karthick View PostI faced it frequently and lost my patience. So left my bike svc and asked the chief mechanic to thoroughly check my bike till the issue is cleared. Last week i bought an used(559 kms) R3 which I'm using it daily.

Possible Reduction In Service Charges
Update -
I got a call from one person in DSK Pune office giving an update on complaints I had made to them regarding the high cost of ownership. It seem's our concerns have been heard. Though I would believe only when I finally see it in person.
I have been told that a new service charges plan is going to be launched in April 2017 which would apparently reduce service costs.
Also added that they are looking at localizing spares like the Chain Sprocket Set & Brake Pads, which would further reduce the cost.
I hope and pray that this would be true and see light of day.
Regards,
Binil

Re: Possible Reduction In Service Charges
Good to hear this. But as you rightly pointed, we can be happy only when this is implemented officially. Good perseverance Binil with escalating all these matters.Originally posted by brokenbinil View PostUpdate -

Negatives
- Spares are not easily available. (But you can easily get them via aliexpress).
- Spares are EXPENSIVE. (For eg: the rear brake pad costs Rs. 4500)
- Cost of ownership is on the higher side. (Spares + service charges)
- The service intervals are at every 4000 kms. ( min Rs 5000 every service)
- The consumable parts such as the brake pads and chain sprockets wear out very fast (10k to 15k depending on your driving)
I have completed around 13000 kms on this bike. In this 13000 kms I have :
- Changed the Oil pressure sensor (got damaged and replaced under warranty)
- Changed the temperature sensor (got damaged and replaced under warranty)
- Changed the horn (issue with the placement of horn, heat from the engine kill the horn. Benelli replaced it under warranty).
- Changed the brake levers to adjustable ones from aliexpress.
- Put in tire protector
- Got a fuel economy of 20.3 min and 31.19 max
- Filled in ~520 Liters of fuel, 26.29 km/L is the General Average
The only thing I wish for the betterment of this bike is that DSK should try and bring down the cost of ownership of this bike. As in, the spares and service is way too costly for this bike.
If you do like a 2000 kms monthly on this bike, you need to visit the SVC every alternate month. Assuming Rs 5000 on an alternate month basis, this bike would cost you Rs 30,000 yearly to maintain it. This is apart from the fuel.
I recently serviced my bike, this was the 4th service. Below is the brake up of the costs.
Sr.No Item Cost 1 Spark plugs 705.00 2 Spong filter 439.00 3 Engine oil 2,260.00 4 Oil filter 423.00 Total : 3,827.00 VAT 13.5% : 516.65 Total + Vat (A) : 4,343.65 Service Charge : 2,700.00 Service Tax (15% of SC) : 405.00 SC+ST (B) : 3,105.00 Grand Total (A+B) : 7,448.65
