Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Scariness is relative and depends on the amount of exposure to power. I hadn't ridden anything beyond 160cc till I first rode an R3. Of course for people who have ridden higher capacity bikes, R3's power wouldn't be too much.Originally posted by akmblr View PostIt's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
HI Everyone,
Congrats to all the new owners!. Wishing you miles and miles of safe riding.
I have shifted to Kolkata recently.
I transported my bike along with the household items in a container. Which, as it turns out, was a big big mistake.
Somewhere along the way, the bike fell down on its right side. and it was transported in that condition...though it was packed well...but the constant hammering as the truck crossed the humps and the potholes took a very big toll on the bike..
I was very disappointed when I saw the condition of the bike when it was unloaded.
The current situation is that the right side RV Mirror is broken, all the fairings locks are broken, The entire front panel along with the headlight and the console is crooked and pointing some 15-20 degrees to the left. Touch wood...the bike still runs fine...I checked the balance and the bike does not pull to any side...but at high speeds the bike is unstable...which is expected as the wind will push to one side..
Can someone please guide me ...as to which Yamaha Service Centre should I take it to...any suggestions?...I am in New Town, Kolkata.
regards,

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey Pratik, I had picked up my R3 from AIMS Yamaha and I'll just give you one word of advice. Their stockyard is in Bhiwandi and they ride the bikes down from there to the showroom, when I asked them that I want a bike with zero kms on the odo, they said it's not possible and it'll be about 19kms. Then I insisted them that I'll go ride it down myself from there and they were fine with it and it was a good thing that I went there. These guys were not exactly thrashing FZs but weren't exactly riding very calmly either, point being, I wouldn't have liked my R3 to be treated the same way and I felt glad I took the decision of going and getting it myself. Another advantage was that I could have a look at 2-3 bikes and select one which was the cleanest and didn't have minor scratches above the taillight. Hope this helps. And congratulations! I might be picking up an R3 again (fingers crossed!)Originally posted by pratik261 View PostSo I have booked my R3 from AIMS Yamaha, Thane. Expected delivery by 10 April 2018 (or earlier).
OTR price: 4.05L
Booking amount: 25,000 (refundable)
I have a query for banking experts. I would mostly be taking a loan. Dealer gave quotation of HDFC bank as below:
ROI: 7.60% (fixed)
DP: 1L
EMI 1: 14,880 x 24 months
EMI 2: 10,574 x 36 months
Do you guys think this is reasonable? Or should I opt for Nationalised banks?

When you say you picked up the bike, did you mean the 2018 model? Because the guy (Laxman) informed me that they will be receiving the new models by April first week only. But thanks for the heads-up again, if that's the case then even I will get the bike from Bhiwandi myself. I'll visit the dealer this weekend and inform him.
Hope to see you on your R3 soon

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I had actually picked up an R3 back in Nov. 2015. Mine was the second one in Thane. Used it for over one and half year and 18k kms and then sold it for a MY17 Duke 390 owing to it's lower maintenance, little did I know it'll be the biggest mistake of letting her go.Originally posted by pratik261 View PostThanks for the info Rohit!

Fast forward to 2018, I'm thinking of picking one up again because there's just no other bike in this price range that I've found to be this good. Wished to upgrade to something like a Z650/ Ninja 650 but I'd rather avoid them because of the high maintenance costs.

You might get a bike for test ride in Ahmedabad. Here's one guy who took it for review - https://youtu.be/VPPyP5m3-LI.Originally posted by sidsoni View PostOut here in A'bad, who gives an R3 for rent!
Good you found an arrangement like that.
If that guy got it for a review, you being a prospective customer, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a test ride now. Check with that showroom.Last edited by satish_patil; 03-29-2018, 11:27 PM.It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

I am sitting on fence between MY18 D390 and YR3.

To put it in short, one's a Yamaha and the other is a KTM.Originally posted by rushikesh.ware View PostHi Rohit,

Jokes aside, I had a pretty bad experience with the Duke 390. Radiator fan and battery went kaput at 2.5k kms, taillight went off soon after and then the overheating issue and coolant top ups, the much more frequent chain lubing and adjustment, the stiff suspension which made my left wrist to wreck.
I actually don't have the Duke anymore. I sold it off after little over 6 months and 6.5k kms of ownership.
From what I found was, R3 was a much more mature, polished product as compared to the Duke. Agreed that the Duke is cheaper and even cheaper to maintain but the cheaper bits go off more quickly compared to the more expensive but quality spares of the R3.
There are many ways in which I felt the R3 was better and that D390 was gimmicky. I can make a list if you want and post it here for others to know as well or I can simply PM it to you. Let me know what you'd like me to do.
If you're planning on keeping the bike for a longer time, don't even think twice and go with the Yammie!

Please post it here what you feel is the difference in quality of ownership between the r3 and it's rivals. I'm considering the r3 too.Originally posted by rohit.t View PostTo put it in short, one's a Yamaha and the other is a KTM.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I'll do it soon enough. But looking at your display picture, all I can say is, if you have a CBR250R currently, you'll absolutely love the R3! I have a CBR250R too and the R3 was the perfect upgrade to it except the ABS which I was fine with. Now it gets ABS too, no reason for you to not go for it. Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Fellow Riders..
After a long deliberation and fight between heart and mind, I have decided to part ways with my Yammie..
Bought her used in April 2017 (originally bought in Dec'16 by a friend) with 3.2K in ODO, spotless and absolutely butter smooth..
It's been now almost an year of weekend rides, touring on straight and mountains, city commute and I still live this bike..
My only complaint..You outgrow from it very quickly and it leaves you craving for more power..
Having ridden her for almost 12K now with a top speed of 188Kmph, I can easily say this is one of the best quarter litres out there..
She's still in a spotless condition except few scratches on muffler due to parking in cramped spaces..
While I move on to a Z900, I would like my Yammie to get a loving owner. Let me know if someone would like to take her home..
Pictures attached.Last edited by vishu_rashu; 04-01-2018, 04:23 AM.
