Chain?Originally posted by Abicool160 View PostHi Friends, I recently shifted my life from a N250r (used for 7 years) to a 1 year old very less run Yamaha R3. I am facing minor issues like vibrations post 6500 rpm (handle bar, seat etc.). had a long ride and i couldn't push the motorcycle past 110 kmph due to the excessive vibrations. I don't know whether it is normal or not as i had null vibration in N250r. I am also getting only 20 KMPL max in city (Highway is a good 30 kmpl avg.). how accurate is that L/100km avg reading in speedo meter ? The coolant is getting spilled on engine case ( little bit here and there, but again nothing in N250r for 7 long years) I am planning to change the oil from Yamalube to Motul 7100 or Maxima (suggested from my garage). Any inputs on it ?
Oil life?
Air pressure?
Alloy wheels bent - worst case scenario.
Do get a full service even if the Odo reading is less. That's only to identify and rectify minor niggles, if any.
Having said that, R3 servicing will cost nothing in front of the cost of Kawasaki servicing.
As for the fuel efficiency, the console reading and its calculation shouldn't be trusted. It gives you a rough idea though. This should go north once the R3 goes through a good Spa session at any trusted Yamaha SVC.
Oh, congrats by the way bhai. R3 is a really sweet parallel jump from N250R. Wishing you many miles of unlimited smiles. [emoji106][emoji4]Regards,

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi bikerviz,Originally posted by bikerViz View PostI got same kind of response from Cochin dealers. I am from Kollam and I contacted Cochin dealer to get the bike at the earliest. But they talked like they had no clue about the bike and I wrote to Yamaha India and the response was immediate. They told me to wait for one month as the bike will be available in Kollam. Even I am planning for magma black.
Gud to see someone from Kerala. I was also planning to get it from Cochin and tried to enquire with them but they didn't have any clue when they will get the stock or the on road price. I heard someone say that the bikes will be bought in as per the orders they receive and they won't be stocking it. I wanted to see both the colours in real but Iam not feeling good about they way these dealerships are handling our enquiries. Luckys guys who are getting the bike in Kannur and Thrissur. I am from Changanassery btw. Now Iam thinking about getting it from Kottayam or kollam. The dealership in Kottayam showed some positive response and they seem interested. Could you PM me your number so that we could keep in touch and hopefully meet up one day with our bikes when we get em. 🙂..::<<Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly>>::.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Akash, thank you for the help. I didn't wait to change the yamalube engine oil (which was still in golden color through that measuring window). Went straight to my regular garage (Hi-torq 76, BTM, Bangalore) and told them about the issues. They immediately asked me to change the engine oil (gave me few choices in Shell, Motul, Maxima, Putoline etc). Since i am so damn confident on Motul 7100 (used it always on N250r), i went ahead and changed it. TBF, i was like wdf ! the immediate KM itself became smooth, it started sounding more smoother, gearshift became smoother, revs faster and vibrations reduced a lot. I went back to the garage to check my old oil and found it to be new (all good properties). Just an oil change to a better brand can do this ? Now i have to clean the air filter. Yeah another problem is water moisture getting inside one headlamp (just one). I changed tires to Michellin and is happy about the decision.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostChain?

Yamalube, off lately hasn't been the choice for a lot of bikers. Grade might be the same but there is difference between various brands.
I'm running my humble bikes on Shell - Semi and Full respectively and it is making a hell lot of difference. I had Motul earlier and the change was just so much felt with Shell.
It could also be that the brand and past experience is so wonderful that nothing else seem to work(mind works in mysterious ways, heart is a dumbass anyway [emoji23]).
I believe the predecessor of Michelin on your R3 was MRF. Michelin is better definitely but may be Pirelli or Metzeler could have taken it out of the world.
If checking air filter, try giving a quick check on the spark plug too.
About Moisture, could be due to rubber seal going ever slightly hard or cracked - should be an easy fix.Regards,

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes your right.. Actually breaks feel more spongy.. Had my first service done.. Even the service people say this is expected as it has abs and it won't be as sharp as non-absOriginally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostWith ABS, I believe the braking distance increases a bit more than STD version. The plus is wheels don't lock and the bike doesn't fish-tail and gives the option to steer away.
Few things I love:
METZELER tyres (a lot of confidence inspiring)
Ergonomics of the bike
Smoothness of the engine
Power delivery
Few things desired to be better:
Brakes
Sound of the engine (benalli 300i twin sounds so much better)
Overall very much happy with the ride...Enzoi the RidE....

Yamaha takes it's own sweet time and when it delivers, it knocks everyone out of the park.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Engine become smooth with motul 7100 but engine is smooth on yamalube too although that smoothness is till 3k kms. Regarding vibration check fairing bolts and whether previous owner has done recall work or not.Originally posted by Abicool160 View PostHi Akash, thank you for the help. Stock Air filter of R3 can’t be cleaned it should be changed and it becomes useless after 5k kms in our environment. Spark plugs should be changed every 10k kms.
Moisture in headlight can be due to cracked headlight unit or loose fitting of dust caps of headlight.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I wonder if yamaha service centres will fill up oils other than yamaha lube upon request?
Also, will adding a steel braided brake lines or changing to a better brake pads create any difference in the working of abs?

With good rapport, they will do it given that the grade matches.Originally posted by jaivrk View PostI wonder if yamaha service centres will fill up oils other than yamaha lube upon request?

As long as the factory spec is matched, I don't think steel braided lines and different brake pads will create any difference in the the working of ABS if that component is untouched.Regards,

Thank you Akash. A good rapport can be managed. I will upgrade the brake components if i feel it required. Hope that will not affect the warranty my any means.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostWith good rapport, they will do it given that the grade matches.

Thanks for the pics. I haven't seen the bike in person. Bike looks dope in both the color schemes. But I prefer magma black because of the stealthiness it offers. BTW could you please share us the price they quoted?
And did you get any updates for your booking?

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Good to see bookings in kannur(2 years back they din knew that r3 existed). If you guys have any queries regarding R3 accessories, maintenance, etc please go back in this thread. There is also a dedicated all India r3 owners group(R3OG) in facebook and whatsappOriginally posted by jaivrk View PostHello guys, I am Jai currently in Kannur. I have been following the recent posts related to Yamaha R3 here. Very interesting and informative topics.
I have booked my Yamaha R3 in magma black. They said a waiting period of one month.
When i went to book the bike from Hara Yamaha in Kannur, there was 4 new Yamaha R3 (3 blue and one black) waiting to get delivered. They said all the bike have been paid up and will be delivered at the earliest.
Also i was surprised to learn that Kannur being a tier 3 city had a dealer with 4 Yamaha R3 ready for delivery but Cochin dealers, from my enquiries, are not even interested in taking the bookings.
Hoping to get my ride soon.Ride Safe! Journey is more important than destination

70000 rupees for reg and tax?Originally posted by jaivrk View PostI have not received any updates after the booking. I will call them today to know the status.

Its fishy, As 6% of ex-showroom price is for lifetime tax in Kannur and it comes to 21000 and 350 is for the charge of temporary registration.
max it should be 22000, check your local state RTO website.
PS : Correct me if I am wrong
