In Kerala the motorcycle tax above 2L is 20%. Another reason why Tvs rr310 is priced at 1.99 in kerala to avail that tax benefit for the customers.

Thank you for the info. 20% used to be vat and now its gst.

As far as I know ex showroom price include gst and road tax is all you need to pay which is 6% or 21000 rupees

Basically we pay tax on ex-showroom and road tax is actually tax on tax. But no options other than to pay it. Road tax in Kerala (ex-showroom above 2L) is 20% of ex showroom, Which would equate to around 4.3-4.5L on-road including Insurance .

I wish there was some option to pay tax at only 6% of the showroom cost. Looks like most of the folks outside Kerala is enjoying a lower tax benefit with better roads to unleash these machines. In that sense this kind of taxation is very much unethical.

Not really , In Goa any Bike above 3 lacks attracts 20% RTO Registration charges , most of the other cities too have 15 to 20 % RTO Charges , GST and Earlier VAT is already included in your Ex Showroom Price , RTO Registration charges are completely different

Hi sorry for hijacking the thread, I am looking to buy r3 but I am concerned with such high tax. Can someone share a website link where this information is available. Local state rto/rta link would be appreciated.

I never trust these dealers, bunch of thieves.

R3 is the cheapest twin cylinder bike which is excellent and I real love the looks a little more than Ktm.

RTO Charges depends State to State wise and most of the RTO website are shabbily designed and hardly put proper details even on their own websites . Best is you can go to your local RTO and ask directly or go to any other showroom just to check charges . Yamaha dealers unlike Kawasaki dealers don't have hidden charges

Nothing there to surprise mate..I think Delhi is an exception..govt believes that performance bikes are part of luxury and only rich people buying that. In fact this high tax concern was already raised by all leading brands. Recently Donald Trump requested for boosting Harley's sales. Kerala and Karnataka is almost charging same, I mean whenever they quote the price. One thing i have noted Kerala is, ex show room price is on higher side. Also handling charge also adding more. This I have seen in benelli forum, Bangalore dsk charging more than Chennai dsk. You can always check your state tax structure, also you can ask the show room guy to break down the amount..

I'm using R6 throttle, it's like a quick throttle. The installation was difficult, also done by a super bike technician. I'm not sure if he had done it correctly. The cable was very tight for this mod and after lot of excessive pulling and things, he fitted. He said there is no adjustment option in the engine side, so it was difficult. But many people in R3 forums had it installed easily, I'm not sure what is missing. Anyway I'm using this for like a year or so. There is no free play for this throttle. So the throttle may get abrupt response initially like KTM's until get used to. It changes very much of the bike's acceleration and you may think it has got more power from low down. This is so much fun than the default one.
But I'm having excessive vibrations at scenarios, like if I"m riding there are excessive vibrations starting from 5K RPM and sometimes it becomes very annoying to ride when the RPM climbs and this happens from 4th or 5th gear on wards. I'm going to replace the throttle to R3 one to see if this vibrations get reduced.


I'm using this grab handle for my bike from Aliexpress. Have to install the rear seat in a particular way every time to get it seated once this is fixed.

Bangalore Wheels Rajajinagar is one of the finest authorised yamaha service centre.
You can also try Pacer yamaha, Hebbal as they have injector cleaners and their work is also good.



Bangalore wheels have got Injector Cleaners in particular? Last I heard they are yet to get atleast one.

I just got a quote from Kottayam Yamaha. They were quoting a price of 3,91,850 on road. I am not sure why you got such a high quote. Please do verify this from other showrooms before going ahead with the purchase.
