  • Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences

A question for the existing R3 owners:
I am looking to upgrade from R15 v2.0 to R3.
How is the illumination of the R3 at night as compared to R15 v2.0?
I know that R15 uses 35wx2 and R3 uses 55/60Wx2, what I want to understand is how does the actual illumination fare both in city and highway night rides.
I found the R15 v2.0 illumination to be pathetic and hence had to resort to aftermarket resolution.

It is pretty good and I didn't feel the need to upgrade.

Illumination is quite good even in pitch dark night riding conditions. Rode back via NH3, from Nasik to Mumbai, 160 km patch with almost no street lights and light to moderate traffic and the stock headlamps(with high beam ON) did very well..

I can second Karan there. I rode down from Lavasa this Sunday in pitch dark conditions on high beam. Stock lamps did very well n did not feel need to strain my eyes. Bike is real fun in the twisties. The brakes on this bike are too good n you need to ride it to beleive it!!

Agree. Better high beam than on any bike I have had so far. And definitely better than the much expensive ninja 650. In short brilliant.

I turn off the bike completely (by using the key) when I have reached my destination. Keeping the fan on will eat up battery. Parking in a shady and airy place will cool down the bike nonetheless. However if you plan on resuming your ride in a short while, let the fan turn off by itself and then shut off the engine. Else you might face problems starting a hot engine again.

Among blue and black R3, blue is best, I think blue sells more internationally as well. Anyway I think R15s in India and R25s in Indonesia and those countries have better paint, stickers than both blue and black.

Will Be Upgrading to the R3 soon first moD on the list is getting the tyres changed to Perelli angel GT which i feel has the best grip.

Here is a thread from another forum which confirms that 160 fits easily on the R3

Are you sure that the TNT300 to R3 is an "upgrade"?

I was about to ask that.

Are you selling the 300 ? If yes, why ? Excluding the service interval period and cost, do you have any other reason behind this decision ?

I have tested Both yes you cant call it an Upgrade Exactly But i want a lighter bike with lot of accessories option. I use the bike for for 80% Commuting and 20% for weekend getaways. Only problem i have is that its heavy and is taller than the R3.

The service interval is again Misinterpreted my second service costed me just 2500 buks (2nd Service Paid) as my Oil was good as per SVC guys so they did not change it, only chain was serviced, coolant top up was done, Air filter was cleaned and Bike Was Polished.

My Bike has done 2800 Kms
