Since I am coming from D390, I want a bike which looks nice, has smooth clutch operation, mileage of around 30-35kmpl, less amount of engine braking. Apart from all these I have this habit of changing bikes often.

    One of the reasons.

Thanks for the reply bro. I have immense respect for this little monster called R15. Riding posture is something that I can get used to ( I moved from Enfield electra to 390 ) Read my reply to xplod566, that is the reason am stepping down ( most important being- you can never engage 5th n 6th and you cannot disengage the clutch completely in other gears, disengage n release the throttle-engine braking, Bangalore traffic :banghead
Also, no matter how much one rides or is experienced, motorcycling and motorcycles always surprises with hitherto unknowns..and that's what makes this learning all the more adventurous.

Ohk.yes.I also stay in Bangalore.2 of my friend has duke 390.I rode them both and in Bangalore traffic, specially while coming back from office in Whitefield it was a terrible experience in the evening .the heat dissipation was hitting my legs very badly and them even of u don't accelerate its stables at I think 13Kmph!
This bike is truely meant for the roads u mentioned and not Bangalore.
I would say wait for sometime.r15 is a brilliant bike but the posture will make u tiring soon, coupled with the fact its a 150cc 17 bhp.you would really really miss your duke as you will feel it very underpowered.I rode it once and the power comes after 5k rpm,but it isn't that huge if u already drove a 200+ cc bike.
Look for the BMW g310 or apache 200.both will be meant for city riding and the posture are very friendly.

Hmm, I thought that the Duke has short gearing and hence you can upshift quickly and still potter around town in a high gear but at low speeds, the again, I have just test ridden the D390 briefly and you have owned it.

Regarding the engine braking, does not blipping the throttle help?

Pillion comfort is also important, took my Dad on D390 once, that was the first n last time he ever sat on it. And also I may get married this year. I know that I will miss D390, the madness, that throttle response, agility, metzelers, I own the road kind of feeling, that devilish grin at traffic GP's, people do not overtake dukes with disdain, they do it with respect( almost everyone now know what she is capable of ) but then she has her own qualms like I mentioned before.
Duke is not as refined as R15, power delivery on r15 is linear compared to duke, fuelling is better, though just a 150cc r15 punches way above it's weight, satisfying top end, better mileage, like supratik mentioned, it is a little monster.

        Sorry for going OT
D390 has taller gearing compared to the 200.
Blipping the throttle needs careful clutch modulation, since the clutch is hard, by the time you commute 15kms in peak traffic, pressure on the palms increase n your fingers start singing, trust me it is my personal experience, with each passing minute on D390 in bangalore traffic u become one with the bike, u grow more n more angrier. By the time I reach home, I will be just like the hulk. On open roads n in ghats, you can attain salvation.

Do other riders of the R15 feel that the 1st gear is very short, its understandable if it is since its meant for the tracks after all! Yet to figure out how a smoother transition from the 1st gear when slowed down by speed humps/traffic as ride becomes a little jerky. Does pulling in the clutch (slipping) a bit help in 1st before one upshifts?

            Pros:
            1. Excellent mileage, 45kmpl in insane Banglore traffic(1st service still due)
            2. Light beam improved
            3. Seats are perfect for touring, for pillon even better!
            4. Bottom end torque feels nice.
            5. Pulls away like rocket after 5000 rpm. (Haven't tested beyond 6000 rpm, top speed at 7k is 95)

            Cons:
            1. Vibes from engine below 3k rpm(may get sorted out at 1st service, already spoke with Pacer yamaha guys)
            2. Rear view Mirror is gives kind of complex view.
            3. Foam used near the headlight adjustment screw could have been made of better quality.
            4. Bar end weights seems to be loose.
            5. Visor quality is poor. Still better than gixxer SF ,RS200. (But previously being from yamaha FZ family expected to be better).

I will post my Full review and my story behind getting R15-s after completing 1st service. I will also post the review of the yamaha service centre , Pacer yamaha. I will be doing 1st sevice on 9th Dec. Hope to give you review by 12th.

            Thanks.

            Hello guys,

            Nice post.

I have booked the R15S bike last week and I am going to get the bike on coming thursday.

I am really excited to get my hands on the bike, as I am an ardent fan of R15.

But, I am confused with the colours still. I found Track white and Spark green both are beautiful and charming.

Could you guys please help me which colour is best ?

            Regards,
            Amit

              Hi

Colour of the vehicle is a subjective aspect and there is not and cannot be a 'best' colour! Black is a difficult colour to maintain as dust and scratches show up easily but rewards you with its gleam if you maintain it meticulously. I have the Track white as I liked the way the blue stickers stand out on the white background. And there is also the Adrenalin Red to choose from.

Its a happy dilemma to have, spend some time gazing at the beauties and then go with what appeals to your heart!

I owned a black Fz for 2 years. Believe me , yamaha has best paint quality. I went for black again. For more protection you can go for teflon coating. And if you are too scared of getting scratches then go for White. It is also good color. Red is an eye candy on roads. Or just select with your eyes closed[emoji14]

After so much confusion among the bikes, I have booked track white R15S. I am very happy and slightly sad at the same time as my earlier bike for pulsar 180 ug3, so in terms of power there is no real upgrade for me. But in terms of quality and refinement its miles ahead. I am looking for single comfy seat and slightly lower height and R15s fits the bill perfectly. Other bikes into consideration was Hornet 160, apache 180 abs and yammie was not even considered till I went and saw the bike in the showroom.

Well both Engine oil are good. But make sure engine oil specification while choosing from them .

Bought my Yammie a week back(Have attached few pics). It is so smooth and at the same time so deceptive in accelerating. Just wondering about the engine break-in period. The manual says first 500 kmph one shoukd not exceed 5000 rpm and next 500 km, it should not exceed 7500 rpm whereas the showroom guy told me not to exceed 45 kmph till first service. Got a bit confused about it as I can touch 45 kmph at around 3000 rpm itself. What should be my focus in 4500 rpm or 45 kmph.
