I put the bike on main stand, started it and put it on gear, i can see chain jumping and making noises like engine knocking and bike stalls within 10-15 secs. It's like something is stuck in front sprocket or its not moving freely. I don't have tools to open front sprocket cover and inspect it myself. I'm taking the bike to svc tomorrow noon. Anybody else faced this issue? If yes, what's the cause and fix?
1 reason could be a very dry chain and jammed links. A diesel clean and lubrication is req.
2nd could be the the chain set is worn out. How many kms does a set usually last on the 200? Have a look at the chain slider too.
3rd could be issue with the main drive shaft bearing which connects the front sprocket, which can be a headache.

      Hi Everyone,

      About me:
I know few little things about mechanic and I try my level best to understand them more.
I am following this thread from 2017, and today finally writing as I would like to clear some of points which I am feel.

Few things about me and my bike:
      - I own RTR 200 (RED Matt) from Apr 17, till date. I really love this bike and this is one of the best which I have owned till date.
      - I am city rider, on week ends go for small trips
      - Total Odo (till date) is 28K
      - I maintain my bike properly, every service is on time, from TVS SVC only (have AMC)
      - Engine oil which I am using Motul 300 V (10w40)
      - Every single thing in my is stock (no mods) apart from clutch (I got slipper clutch installed- from TVS SVC only)
      - Getting mileage of 37Kmpl

Topic which I wanted to know about is Gear sensor:
      * This has been really a pain. Till this date, TVS has replaced 4 gear sensors and multiple time clean/refix has been done, but again, it is same. Issue reoccurs after 500+ KMs. They provided different gen of modified parts, sometime from plant or sometime from R&D Team.

Can any suggest me on this as I am really confused about gear sensor. What should I do about this.

      Please suggest.

      - Please forgive me for mistakes (if any), this is my first time writing on any forums.

I own an RTR200 2.0 since March’19 and the gear sensor issue is still not rectified by TVS.

The issue is only in 1N2 gears and not at higher ones.

It shows as 2 in the display when I put it in neutral from 1, but the bike will be in neutral.

It is not a big deal, but still this issue in a premium offering is slightly disappointing.

Hello everyone.. I'm getting some type of a friction feedback on the front footrests when riding (2.0 edition) .. I can't pin point the exact root cause.. The engine seems smooth and responsive, the clutch and grears are fine. I'm wondering if there's an issue with the chain? Has anyone faced such an issue? I'm planning to take it to the service center tomorrow, but wanted to get your views or experiences.

I also have the same issue with gear but a different one, bike shows neutral even when its on 1st or second gear.
And WOW! 37KM/L and that too in the city--- Thats rediculous, I hardly get 30 from my bike and it is really well maintained(2016 model).
I ride mostly in city between 60-80 KM/h Max. Never I have gotten that sort of mileage. Whats your secret?

Update: I got this fixed at the SC today. The chain was too tight causing it to cause the friction type feedback. They loosened it a bit and now the bike is buttery smooth.

Update the same in the SVC feedback forms. Might be in future TVS will bring some update based on that. Cold Start/Gear Shift Noise/Gear Sensor and all other commonly faced issues. This is for everyone not for only you particularly. Every feedback forms will be checked by manufacturer to know about the common issues.

Fill N2/air with the recommended air pressures !!

Coz overfilling will cause the tread wear prematurely in the center. However the edges of the tyre won't touch the road surface/wear out evenly.

This might results in improper wearing of the tyres and even overfilling causes the tyre to bounce often. We can't get the perfect control in prompt !!!!

you can Google this topic and checkout!!!

P.S : DON'T OVERFILL ,ITS A MISTAKE TO DO SO. MAINTAINING THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE ISN'T DIFFICULT AND WE CAN FILL THE AIR AT ANYTIME IN PETROL BUNKS !!!!

                          Hi Guys,

                          need some clarification.

I have given my RTR200 for periodical service - got checked @ TVS Service centre. estimation done for change of parts - engine valve, piston & rings.
I have previously owned Honda Unicorn, where I have not faced any issues with engine life.

Need to know, whether Valve, Pistons & rings are covered in Extended Warranty. Since my vehicle has covered 33150 kms in 1.9 years (daily use - 60kms).
Also need to know whether anyone else faced these problems.

I totally agree to you, it does not make any difference in performance.

When I put 5th gear, it never show in the panel (I think as per that I never put 5th gear in my bike),or sometime, I get error "Check Gear Sensor".

At last, it is really disappointing that even TVS is not able to fix the same. I hope they come back with proper solution.

If that is for periodical service (no issue with crank or piston), then I don't think that you have to replace the EV, piston & rings.

I would suggest you to check with SVC, why they want to do or if possible, get your bike checked with any other SVC. If they are suggesting for the replacement, then there should a valid reason. Or you can check with area TVS ASM for same if you are not getting any support from SVCs.

                            Hope everything goes fine.

                            Thank you for your comment.

Below are things which I am used to:
                            - I try to ride with constant speed (less use of clutch, gear, breaks).
                            - Most of time I ride at 71KMPH speed at 5KM RPM
                            - Air in tyres are maintained and chain is properly lubed.
                            - I get the fuel tank full, then once fuel level comes with reserve, then again get the tank full. Based on that I calculate the average is always comes near about 37 to 37.5 KMPL
                            - I ride solo (most of time)

You are right about the feedback, but Cold Start/Gear Shift Noise, are issues which has been resolved properly

Cold start: I was facing this issue in earlier days when I was new to this bike. Got to understand about the same. Also, SVC tuned the carburettor along with RPM as per the requirement and till date I have not faced this.

Gear Shift noise: It is every common that with normal run, dust gets stuck in front area of the sprocket, which cause gear shifting noise.
                            As a solution,
                            - I open the front sprocket cover and perform the chain cleaning properly (every 500KM) and maintain the chain lubed over 250km or as required.
                            - Also, please make sure that chain should be properly adjusted along with wheel alignment (as per swing arm).
                            - Clutch should be adjusted (based on the requirement)

Even, if you are facing this issue for long, get in touch with SVC, hope they should get it resolved.

Lowest was 28 (during initial days), post that it increased as per time being. Highest I was able to record is 38KMPL.
