    Thanks Ashwiin.

Anything specific to check if it is not a test ride bike? . Just not sure how to check.

I am planning to buy ABS model, So I hope it to be brand new. I even checked couple of dealers where I was informed that test ride bike for ABS is not available.

      Hi surenyfs,

There's no exact way to check that but just keep a look-out on the odo on how much it has ran from the godown to showroom to RTO and all (Although i have seen instances where showroom people remove the speedo cable and taking a jolly ride on new bikes without owner's consent).

Check the tyres too for tread marks (Although it can be wiped off with a thorough wash).

One good thing to do is to have a good rapport with the showroom and people who work there, be in constant touch with them regarding the whereabouts of your bike and try a couple of surprise visits to the showroom after booking the bike. That should keep them at bay. Also, tell them vocally & strictly that the bike should not be ridden without your consent. Ask them if they will be getting a TD bike from the company or not, just to clear the air. Rest should be fine. Good luck with the buy!

Nobody can sell/buy new non-abs variants anymore since April.

But still I could see dealers are selling non abs model when I went to get quote and also I could not find abs model in display for 200 4v . Even in apache 200 4v fi version abs is not launched. In fact this rule is not strictly implemented like bs4 rule where the dealers were forced by court to stop selling bs3.

            About me:
I know few little things about mechanic and I try my level best to understand them more.
I am following this thread from 2017, and today finally writing as I would like to clear some of points which I am feel.

Few things about me and my bike:
            - I own RTR 200 (RED Matt) from Apr 17, till date. I really love this bike and this is one of the best which I have owned till date.
            - I am city rider, on week ends go for small trips
            - Total Odo (till date) is 28K
            - I maintain my bike properly, every service is on time, from TVS SVC only (have AMC)
            - Engine oil which I am using Motul 300 V (10w40)
            - Every single thing in my is stock (no mods) apart from clutch (I got slipper clutch installed- from TVS SVC only)
            - Getting mileage of 37Kmpl

Topic which I wanted to know about is Gear sensor:
            * This has been really a pain. Till this date, TVS has replaced 4 gear sensors and multiple time clean/refix has been done, but again, it is same. Issue reoccurs after 500+ KMs. They provided different gen of modified parts, sometime from plant or sometime from R&D Team.

Can any suggest me on this as I am really confused about gear sensor. What should I do about this.

            Please suggest.

            - Please forgive me for mistakes (if any), this is my first time writing on any forums.
37 in city or on highways? My god that is good

I get a mileage of 27 in the city on my 200

            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Am I the only one getting low mileage on my tvs apache 200?

The reviews claim 30-35 upto 40kmpl from the bike but after one month of use I am only getting 27 kmpl in the city.

Try changing the tuning of the bike. Either it is too rich or too lean. I am still getting between 35-37 kmpl after completing 45000kms on the bike. My riding style is mixed. On highway i just enjoying zipping on this bike. If you know how to change the AFR then you can do it by your own, either you will have to visit the mechanic everytime.

Can you give me some pointers on how to tune the engine? Or is it better to just visit a mechanic to do it?

If you can visit the svc, their will be a chart which says the number of turns of the afr for every model they have. If they don't, ask one of the senior mechs. But slight +- variance will be there due to factors like quality of fuel, carb & engine condition.

Is there a online tutorial and education picture or something which you have come across?

There are quite a few write-up about this on the bhp site. Google how to adjust afr and it will show those.

220 for top up? Your bike burnt off 300ml oil between services?

You can search videos on Youtube for RTR 200 tuning. You will get an idea of the same. There will be some trail and error at the start.
Once you know how to tune you can play with it as per your requirement.

                            Hi guys,

Quick update about my ownership: Done around 2800kms now, going for second service this weekend. Did a small 500 kms ride last week! Bike performance was awesome! I have couple of very minor concerns.

I have a slight squeaking sound coming from the rear, I can notice it only in crawling speed like 10-15kmph, not sure if it's from the brakes or suspension or what, but it's kind of annoying. Any idea what it is?

Also i use gear oil for chain lube and i have oil dripping from my side stand all the time, am I overdoing it or is this because of gear oil? It almost makes the rear wheel messy! Thinking I'll just go with chain lube cans, are they any better?

Any other things I should check during second service?

Get the bike washed especially nicely on the rear suspension area. That's most likely the cause. Or the chain has gathered dust which might be another area of squeaky sound.

I switched from chain lube spray to gear oil. Got 140 grade oil and it has never been so sweet ever. No dripping, chain remains well lubed and just the nice whizz at decent speeds.
                              Regards,
                              Akash Yadav

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Hi Akash, sure I'll get a good jet wash. Also I don't think it's from the chain. Probably just dust in brakes or maybe suspension, not really sure though. I believe I'm actually overdoing chain maintenance and there's always oil dripping wherever I park my vehicle. There's no dust in the sprocket whatsoever. I have 80w90 oil now, I'll switch to w140 next time.
