Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Yep, i asked because i had a friend who borrowed the bike for a weekend ride and then panicked and called me and told that the bike wouldn't start after they stopped for a break (he was using the led lights and mobile charger sometimes even when the bike was off and thought the battery might be drained). He was trying to start in gear without the clutch pulled in.Originally posted by sanz112 View PostDefinitely yes man, how I'm suppose to start a bike while in gear...you have to engage/pull the clutch right....

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Any FI version owners in this thread? I am planning to buy one next month. It is about 1.25 Lac on the road here in Hyderabad, where as the carb one costs about 1.11 L on the road. (Quotation by Anjali Motors, Somajiguda). Has anybody ridden the FI version till date? Any big/huge differences over the Carb variant? My heart says buy the FI one, but my mind says the difference btw both is just marginal so save 14K and go for the carb one

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
The most oblivious reason to people not opting for the FI primarily comes to cost and VFM quotient. When you consider the advantages of a FI system over a carburettor, though the difference isn't in anyway significant, there are some aspects of the FI that outweigh those humble carbs in many ways. First being, cleaner combustion, FI was introduced not to create any miracles, but the EPA wanted cleaner burning engines with reliability. FIs provide superior fuel mixtures in all driving conditions, meaning the vehicle adapts to the climate in Kanyakumari to the climate in Kashmir all by its own without having to fiddle with ist carburettor to get the settings right. Secondly, uniform fueling means more uniform fuel burn, which means crisp acceleration and the vehicle feels sprightly to ride, and cold morning starts are abreeze.Originally posted by dantu.bharadwaj1 View PostAny FI version owners in this thread? Though many things can wrong in a modern vehicle, there is actually very less that can go wrong it. Adulterated fuel and dirty air filters reduce the efficiency of the fuel air mixture fed to the engine. Adulterated fuel can clog and gum up the throttle body, the injectors and can reduce their working potential to a large degree over time. Rest assured, there is no fuel cock in FIs so you'll have to be proactive in filling up when your indicators starts reading "Low Fuel" as in an FI, if the vehicle stops without fuel, you can be rest assured, the vehicle can only be started if you refuel it again. No, reserves, no dhakka trick will work on an FI vehicle with dried up tank.
So, there you have it.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
My bike engine is giving wired whistling noise. Do you ever face this issueOriginally posted by Nitish Singla View PostHey fellow riders,
Sharing my opinion and experience about this bike.
1. My bike's engine head had manufacturing defect which I somehow ignored as my driving is limited to city only. But now the problem had become quite severe which had to be fixed.
2. There were 4 other RTR 200's at the Hinjewadi, Pune dealership who were plagued with engine related issues, mostly engine head. One bike's crankshaft was gone, which was quite surprising.
3. The mechanic had fitted a brand new head in my bike, which again was faulty. Somehow he managed another engine head from Chinchwad dealership and fitted the same. So definitely there is issue with quality here.
4. I was facing a lot of chain noise. Upon inspection, mechanic found that front sprocket was completely worn out in just 7000 kms. I usually clean/lube/adjust the chain every 500 kms. Now the SVC has replaced the complete chain set and new one seems to be fine.
5. I had a word with TVS mechanic(a friend of mine) and he mentioned that a lot of RTR 200's have issues with cone set, gear indicator, chain set(mostly front sprocket), engine head, disc pads scratching the rotor etc. Company is aware of the issues and getting a replacement for these parts is quite easy.
After head and chain set replacement, the power and smoothness of the bike is completely restored. There was hardly any sound of tappets post continuous run of 50 kms. Just loving it
PS: 1. Chain set costs whopping Rs. 2800.
2. I do not have photographs of the open engine head.
3. My 11 years old TVS star city has done more than 1.15 Lakh kms on the odo. Only major repair was a piston replacement at 90k Kms. The quality was top notch during those times and I wish the same for RTR.
Thanks,
NS

When I start my 200 first time in morning I feel sound like something is rubbing (duug-duugg-duugg)*~ but when bike gets heated up after I reach my office the sound gets faded and i cannot hear it anymore (rpm gets up a bit due to heating) what may be the reason. Please do reply.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Guys i have 2 questions this time:
1) What documents are needed while riding a bike? And where to keep those documents? Is there any place in the bike to accommodate those documents?
2) My bike is having some cold start issues. The temp in Chennai in quite high. In the morning I use choke and turn the choke down after around 30 sec. After that no issues. I happily go to my office at around 10 AM. Then I come back home for lunch at around 1 AM. I start my bike and it turns on easily on the first crank. But after 5 sec engine shut down automatically. Now any number of cranks wont turn it on again. Again I apply choke, crank the engine and it turn on. 5 sec later i turn down the choke and the bike now runs happily. Anyone else facing such issue?

The documents you need to carry with the bikes are 1) RC book (which includes road insurance too) Copy 2) Insurance document copy. 3) Original Driving License
The cold start issue is due to Low AFR, Take it to the SVC and get that fixed

Absolutely right that cold start issue is due to improper A/F ratio, carburetor adjustment should help.
Congratulations! Welcome to the tribe.Originally posted by Jishnukj View PostI had booked my bike on the 18th of December and got it delivered to me on the 30th.
This video should definitely help you: https://youtu.be/GZ-bXLwEC4cOriginally posted by dantu.bharadwaj1 View PostI want to know how can i fix a visor to Apache RTR 200 4V. I want the same one which is there on the present FI model which is called "Royal crown fly screen". Where can i get it? Can it be fixed to the Carb model? If yes, how much does it cost? I have seen a few people posted the same query earlier in this thread but i guess no one replied.
Fuel sensor error usually comes up if the fuel tank is overfilled with fuel or loose wire from the fuel sensor.Originally posted by rsree View PostFilled up 8 Litres fuel today, while riding to office found unusual error - Check FUEL Sensor.
Does anyone else facing Fuel Sensor Error.
