rusting in chain may be due to not cleaning & proper lubing of chain. If its new vehicle - like a month old, i have no answer for that.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
So I got delivery of my RTR 200 today, and it's damn awesome. But I have few concerns. The dealer has not provided me any service booklet. Also, it doesn't have any number plates and temporary number. I haven't even provided with the insurance paper. I've been informed that I'll get my insurance within 7 days of delivery. Is this normal, the Vehicle is yet to be registered with the RTO and I'm in Pune so can I ride it without or with any temporary number. I've checked with the dealer and he said Service booklet will be provided after you will get registered with RTO and get a permanent registration number. Is this normal..??

I don't know, but when I bought the bike, I got all the documents on the same day expect the RC and the lifetime tax paper which took about a month to come. I am from Siliguri, West Bengal, and here we have to atleast provide the Insurance and the tax invoice along with the licence. Don't know about Maharashtra.Originally posted by sanz112 View PostSo I got delivery of my RTR 200 today, and it's damn awesome. But I have few concerns. Hey fellow bikers!
This is my first ever interaction on xbhp.
So i just confirmed with the TVS's vehicle passing hub of north region (ChambhaGhaat, Solan), which they claim they are, that the FI variant is indeed having ABS (did not know whether it'll be dual or single channel).
They said itll be delivered within 10-15 days after pre booking. Thats where I'm headed now.
Bad karma for TVS for launching it without any notification.
Cheers!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Does anyone know what is the dimension(thickness) of the front forks on RTR. I am assuming it's 37 mm but am not sure. I was planning on swapping the clipons with ones that was lower than the stock (personnel preference) and what would be a direct fit for that? I am supposing may be the r15 or cbr's also have same fork dimension as that of the RTR and those clipons can be suited on it. And yes, I am aware that such a conversion would kill the turning radius the bike has for proper city use.

1) May be you are going a bit too harsh with the key while unlocking your fuel cap and this makes the key get deformed a little making it hard to get into the ignition. At least that's what happened to me and can't really blame ourselves because it takes some time to understand the correct way to open the fuel cap without any hassle. The solution in my case was to check for bends on the key and get it straightened.Originally posted by Ysahil92 View PostAny help/suggestions would be appreciated
2) RTR 200 comes with decently big sized sprockets attached to your rear wheels in addition to the disc plate and these all mean there is no way your rear wheel is supposed to rotate freely like the front one does, and also it seems that your chain and sprockets are dry as a bone. Some lubrication would help.
3) As you said it's rainy season in Chennai and am assuming your motorcycle was left in rain or ridden in rain way too much and this obviously results in rusting of the chain. However if you give it some lubrication and rub it with a cloth or brush before it's too late, all these build up of rust will disappear. It would be better a idea to keep the motorcycle covered if it's parked in open space and it's raining mad.
4) Never faced such issues with mine. May be you try unscrewing the lens cover and after wiping off the condensed moisture inside it completely, seal it back tightly. Make sure the connector to which the bulb is connected is seated properly in the case.(These connectors may be made of some plastic or rubber type material so that they can seal perfectly)
All these are just my speculations and suggestions on what might be your problem and how to possibly fix it

1) I have opened the fuel tank only twice till now. And i tried with the spare key also. I think some water went inside the ignition and causing this issue.
2) Do I need to purchase a chain lubricant or TVS provides it?
Also my bike is now 15 days old but it has very bad average. It covered around 200 km in around 7 ltr petrol. Max speed reached till now : 61

Better you buy a chain lube for your selves because you will be needing it a lot more than you think it would and also, I think some TVS services will lube your chain for free if that's what you want.Originally posted by Ysahil92 View PostThanks for the suggestions. Continuing the discussion:

And with the bad average, it's usually like that because probably your motorcycle is in break-in period right now and the rings of your pistons are yet to seal properly with the wall leading to not a perfect combustion thus resulting in the poor average. Also it's now running in mineral oil so once your first service is done and the oil is replaced with a synthetic one you will start to receive better average.

Hey! Yes they are 37mm forks. But the top part will be different. Ask you to check and then go for it. Also r15 clips will touch the tank.Originally posted by mzon View PostDoes anyone know what is the dimension(thickness) of the front forks on RTR. I am assuming it's 37 mm but am not sure. I promise I will never mess with my carb again.
Dont know if you have solved it yet dude but for me the no of turn was 12 quarter (1/4) turns.

Thanks buddy... Will change it to that setting. Heard somewhere that the factory seeking is around 5 180 degree turns.. But I will try your setting.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I am not sure of the factory setting...my bike came with 12 1/4 turns (i always believed that it was the factory setting though). I have reduced this to 9-10 1/4 turns and the bike runs fine. Heck it ran well with 8 1/4 turns but cold starts in Bangalore were sometimes an issue so i increased it to 9 - 10 (the whole thing was done because i was not really happy about the mileage).Originally posted by vrkoppula View PostThanks buddy... Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Hi All,
What is the ideal range on ODO for replacement of tyres. My stead came with stock TVS tyres, currently ODO is at 8800+, I experience a lot of skids and feel that the tyres should be replaced. Will replacing them with Pirellis be an ideal option? What can be the cost approx.?Race ON!
