What did you mean by 'head' bro?Originally posted by Nitish Singla View Post7000 km update.
Got bike's head and chain set changed. Head was making a lot of noise after 10km drive.
Everything got changed under warranty, total bill is just Rs. 32.
Thanks

Not against any brand but opening up the engine of a relatively new bike(just 7000 kms) and replacing one of the key components is very tough to understand.Originally posted by Nitish Singla View PostEngine head assembly, i.e cam, rockers, valves timing chain.
What are Quality check and quality assurance of TVS motors are doing.Head needing a replacement within one year on their costliest and flag ship offering in the products. At least it was never needed for humble 100cc commuters from Honda and hero within first five years of ownership which cost half the price of Apache 200

Lol!!... Do u really questioning the quality of a manufacturer by just seeing only one particular person's problem.... hope u understand that this is like one in a lakh ratio. Only problem which faced by owners here are related to chain noise & gear sensor Which has already been rectified by the TVs. So stop judging a manufacturer if u see a problem only faced by 1 or 2 person.Originally posted by thousifkhan24 View PostNot against any brand but opening up the engine of a relatively new bike(just 7000 kms) and replacing one of the key components is very tough to understand.

When the Dukes launched, they were plagued with issues, such as broken oil seal, bent rims. It can happen to anyone and any brand. It is about how well a company fixes those issue instead of letting the owners suffer.Originally posted by thousifkhan24 View PostNot against any brand but opening up the engine of a relatively new bike(just 7000 kms) and replacing one of the key components is very tough to understand.

Sharing my opinion and experience about this bike.
1. My bike's engine head had manufacturing defect which I somehow ignored as my driving is limited to city only. But now the problem had become quite severe which had to be fixed.
2. There were 4 other RTR 200's at the Hinjewadi, Pune dealership who were plagued with engine related issues, mostly engine head. One bike's crankshaft was gone, which was quite surprising.
3. The mechanic had fitted a brand new head in my bike, which again was faulty. Somehow he managed another engine head from Chinchwad dealership and fitted the same. So definitely there is issue with quality here.
4. I was facing a lot of chain noise. Upon inspection, mechanic found that front sprocket was completely worn out in just 7000 kms. I usually clean/lube/adjust the chain every 500 kms. Now the SVC has replaced the complete chain set and new one seems to be fine.
5. I had a word with TVS mechanic(a friend of mine) and he mentioned that a lot of RTR 200's have issues with cone set, gear indicator, chain set(mostly front sprocket), engine head, disc pads scratching the rotor etc. Company is aware of the issues and getting a replacement for these parts is quite easy.
After head and chain set replacement, the power and smoothness of the bike is completely restored. There was hardly any sound of tappets post continuous run of 50 kms. Just loving it
PS: 1. Chain set costs whopping Rs. 2800.
2. I do not have photographs of the open engine head.
3. My 11 years old TVS star city has done more than 1.15 Lakh kms on the odo. Only major repair was a piston replacement at 90k Kms. The quality was top notch during those times and I wish the same for RTR.
Thanks,
NS

I have heard this issue too , Even my Friend had this issue .
His RTR’s Engine was producing some weird noise and was intensively heating more than he faced in the break in period , just into his second service , He takes good care of the bike and rides it smoothly even then the bike’s Piston was causing this problem .
And now it is solved as of now as it was covered in warranty .
I am a FZ 25 owner and I don’t know a lot about TVS Bikes. In my Experience and from what I read in this forum , I think TVS needs to work on the Quality especially the Engine !!!!!
Hope the majority doesn’t get affected by this and their engine is in good condition !
That said the Apache is a fun to ride Bike when compared to NS200 it’s closest rival i found RTR more Fun to ride !

Indeed Apache is fun to ride as most of the power is delivered in lower RPM's, and that exhaust note to die for !!!Originally posted by [email protected] View PostI have heard this issue too , Even my Friend had this issue .

I don't mind if you laugh aloud.i think you missed my first statement I am not against any manufacturer.Originally posted by tanishq View PostLol!!... Yes, I will start questioning the manfacturer for the issues with the motor cycle .my thought process is if a person has paid 1.2 lakh rupees of hard earned money he deserves the best and it doesn't matter it is one in one lakh case or one is one billion case.the person should not waste his time wandering around service centers for no mistake of him.
Let's this put this discussion to end as it is moving off topic with respect to Apache 200 and move on with our lives.
Cheers and ride safe.

Agreed with you two hundred percent.Originally posted by Manash Roy View PostWhen the Dukes launched, they were plagued with issues, such as broken oil seal, bent rims. It can happen to anyone and any brand. It is about how well a company fixes those issue instead of letting the owners suffer.
Doesn't matter any brand/item/product there will be niggles and issues that pop up when it is first launched. The company should proactively work hard to fix those.i am not telling tvs did not fix.
All I meant was at least in the engine head department, the quality issues are less frequent in motorcycles.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
To be very honest I have not heard any engine issues with RTR200. Even if there is the workshop in the showroom I bought the bike form is one of the best workshops I have seen. Every tiny issue is solved. Today I gave my bike for service (RTR200), told him to general servicing and the service provided was excellent. He cleaned the entire disc assembly, both front and rear because some noise was coming due to dust. So overall I'm pretty happy with the workshop. I hope every workshop provided service like that.Originally posted by thousifkhan24 View PostAgreed with you two hundred percent.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Hi All,
I have got a quote of Rs.1,14,186 (On Road) for the RTR200 4V with carburetor and Pirelli tyres. Wait time for the same is about 20 to 30 days for delivery...
Rs.1,08,458 for carburetor with stock tyres and delivery in 3 to 10 days... My question is "Are the Pirelli tyres worth the money and wait"?...
Sadly the showroom I went to did not have a trial bike...
P.S. I am from Pune... Anyone here who has got the same can enlighten me?Last edited by Sai Madhav; 11-27-2017, 09:22 PM.
