I spoke to the piaggio customer care who called after service to get my review, when I discussed these concerns, the representative simply said that if the SVC manager could not rectify the issue(rattling noise), company could not do anything.

Further, when discussed about the stalling engine, they just asked if the issue is still prevalent. I replied no, it got rectified somehow but what if the issue crops up again in the middle of nowhere ? They simply asked to get the vehicle to SVC for diagnostic.

Will seriously consider your advice to write an email to Piaggio if any more serious issues crop up. The problem is I don't have the evidence to prove that the engine was stalling and the issue cannot be easily replicated. But if something of this sort happens, I'd rather shoot a video somehow and mail across to piaggio.

Although mine is BSIV model, I'll check about the air intake as suggested. Thank you
The problem with the cables is the width of then and the design placement. So it's a design flaw rather.

If you face an issue with the bike and it resolves by itself, all the more reason to pursue the SVC. Piaggio can push the SVC to double the diagnosis. Pursuade both.

All aprilia, 2016 and 2017 are BS4. Piaggio was the first to release them. Just a few design and technical changer here and there over the months.

3 months old SR150, done 1500 kms approx, completed the second service as per the manual.
I was riding at slightly spirited 80-90kmph on a state highway and suddenly I lost all power but the engine wasn't dead. Tried to twist the accelerator cable, no response. Slowly pulled over to the side with the help of available momentum. Engine was still running when I was at a complete halt. Gave it some accelerator and I could ride but only till I reach speeds of 15-20 kmph and then the throttle would not have any response beyond that while the SR keeps puttering. I let everything cool down for a few minutes, checked engine oil, opened up the petrol tank for air vacuum lock, used kick start etc. However, my SR was simply unable to cross 20kmph on plain roads. I decided to take it to the authorized SVC some 10 kms away at slow speeds. SR was doing slightly better with choke on but I didn't want to ride long with the choke so kept riding very slowly until the bike just gave up. It would crank & start, properly idle but just wouldn't get any momentum. Somehow managed to push the SR for 1 kms to the nearest FNG (since the authorized SVC was far away) for some quick diagnosis. The mechanic checked the usual suspects like spark plug, loose connections on carb, air filter etc but just no luck. He wanted to try some more advanced stuff but I refused to let him go deeper lest it creates a problem with the warranty.
Got the SR started again and rode at a sedate speed of 10 kmph until it shut down again on me, luckily in front of another bike garage. I was tired in the afternoon sun so asked the garage to just do an overall inspection without going in deep as the SR was already inspected by another mechanic. They tried a few things and narrowed it down to filter blocking. Cleaned it thoroughly, although there was negligible dust formation and the SR was back to life. I thanked them profusely and left.
It's been two days since and the SR is doing just fine. Knowing the horrible instances of engine seizures and other such concerns, it got me really worried in that 2 hour ordeal. Took it to SVC and the guys there say everything is fine now.

Any idea what could be the reason for the sudden loss of power (besides the apparent air filter blockage) and the heavy rattles from the front end ?
I too am facing somewhat similar issue. My ride is 2 months ... 1072 km old . The issue is that sometimes when I speed up and then reduce speed by normal braking or gradually using engine braking and then again try to accelerate, I feel a sluggish acceleration as if somebody is pulling the bike from behind. The problem disappears only when I stop and turn the engine off, wait for some moments and then start again. The problem occurs randomly. It may occur at every single ride or may not occur for days together. Since problem is not consistent, svc guys are clueless and whenever they take the bike for a test ride they don't feel anything. Still they have come up with some idea.
      1. Clogged air filter. But chances are remote since bike is pretty new
      2. Faulty fuel pump or maybe vacuum inside fuel tank or line which prevents fuel form reaching the engine
      3. Some particles present inside the carburetor
      4. Current not reaching the spark plug

What in your opinion could be the issue?

Well, 2 months is run-in period. Technically you're not supposed to rev above 45/50 KMPH.

Issues could be anything. Follow the manual guidelines of run-in maintenance. You don't feed a baby chicken tikka and kebabs or push it to run and walk whilst it's 2 months old rite?

No no.... By speeding up I mean going from 0 to 40 in a linear manner. I never went passed 50 during the run in. And still following that.

Rather surprising design flaw if it is actually that's whats causing the heavy rattles. However, I did take a test ride of other SR150's at the SVC of fellow owner who had clocked over 3k kms and no such rattles from the front end. So probably not a universal issue with all SR.

I'd say chances are you got a clogged filter or air intake as fernsruben suggested in earlier posts. The other points which you have stated will have more evident symptoms especially if the problem is with spark plug/carb and the issues will not be so difficult to reproduce most of the times.

Doesn't matter much about the new ride, it's the conditions you ride in. 1k kms in a fairly dusty region would be sufficient to clog your air filter.

Kinda OT: I'm from Kolkata and got a Vespa 150 from Beckbagan Showroom and it's been one month and my CF hasn't been done yet. Just wondering if it's normal or should I escalate the issue?

PS: I keep contacting the salesperson and he is like "it will be done by this week" and stuff. And my first service is on 26th. Would like some feedback from Kolkata buyers.

A quick update... I got the air filter cleaned yesterday. It wasn't dusty. However I tried to trace the point from where the air actually enters. It's a round plastic pipe which starts somewhere from the front side. Somewhere near the horn area. Due to the covered space the actual opening could not be reached. I wanted to locate it coz I wanted to make sure the opening is clear and not clogged by any means.
Well.. The problem still remains unresolved. In the process, the air filter cover got some ugly scratches because the svc guy was having a tough time removing it due to the perimeter frame and footrest.

The new tyres however have a good grip and better cornering since they're hard compound based.

Since today morning my aprilia is not starting with the electric starter. I have to kick start it. Might be a sensor issue. Will visit the service center tomorrow.
                      Anybody facing same issue?

I see you are based in Pune. In cold conditions, always use the choke.

Seriously guys? You thought I forgot the choke? I did try everything.

I have had a Dio for 10 years before this. And also own a Z800.

I am facing the same issue for last 1 year and nobody was able to fix it.. always have to kick start whenever there is gap greater than 10 hours between two rides.
