Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The one I bought is a 2017 Dec make. Did some bargaining and brought the final price to 84.7k (race edition). Another Showroom quoted 87k for 2018 Feb make. I had booked via paytm, so got 3k cashback too.Originally posted by KPR1 View PostEven I'm contemplating buying a SR150. How much on road it is in Chennai?Pegasus - 2011* - Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I'm planning to buy this 150 beast. Is it worth considering? Are customers happy about their purchase? I know it cannot be compared to the 125 cc ntorq/grazia. This motoscoot is a new class which any of these Hondas, TVS cannot even try/ emulate in the next five years. The uniqueness is dragging me to this buy. Need inputs from you all and help me in decision.

You can buy it within an year. The price is different if the Extended Warranty is purchased within 30 days and between 30 to 365 days.Originally posted by jermm_83 View PostWhat is the consensus on the extended warranty?
How much is it , what does it cover?
When is the last date to acquire it from purchase of vehicle?
I was enquiring with Aprilia Customer care today. They said For 1 year extension (that makes your warranty 3 years as bike comes with 2 years warranty by default) its 380+ if purchased within one month of bike booking and its 450+ if purchased after 30 days to 365 days.
Likewise 2 year extension (means 4 year coverage) would cost 600+ if bought within a month and 650+ if bought between 30 days and 365 days.
I also asked whats the price if i decide to buy the extended warranty by the end of 2 years default warranty, they said they don't have any idea how much it might cost and might be dealer specific.Pegasus - 2011* - Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I've no idea about Garcia. But NTorq has got some good tech and nice suspension. Acceleration is not like SR but it also would reach 100kmph if I'm right. I test rode both but the NTorq was my friend's and new, so didn't push it to its limits.Originally posted by KPR1 View PostI'm planning to buy this 150 beast. Is it worth considering? If you ride on bad roads and love your spine then look elsewhere. If not, buy it in a heartbeat.Originally posted by KPR1 View PostI'm planning to buy this 150 beast. Is it worth considering? Originally posted by NinjaAssassin View PostYes it is fun to ride, but at the expense of 'peace of mind'. A scooter is supposed to be a reliable companion which will never let you down. It should be easy to maintain. This scooter is anything but that. I'll list out its generic problems -
- engine oil accumulates a lot of soot in a short period of time. Signs of a badly made engine.
- gearbox is lethargic from 0-40. All the other scooters, even the 100cc scooters are quicker off the line. Sr150 has been geared tall which is plain stupidity. Nobody wants to hit top speeds on this thing.
- engine starting problem. Doesn't always start at 1st crank. Also has idling problems.
- rear brakes are non existent. The braking from the rear feels like Friction between wood and cheese.
- ride quality is plain harsh. It's a stupid work by aprilia. Even a small pebble on the road is felt. Nobody gonna take this scooter to mmrt or buddh to break lap records. This kind of bone jarring ride Quality will only break the scooter and rider.
- spares and services. This is hopeless. They don't even have a basic air filter in Stock. They are forced to convince you that they have cleaned the filter and it's enough. Air filter used here is paper type and it's common sense that nobody can clean it.
- my scooter was lying in the svc for about 2 weeks. I gave the aprilia regional manager a piece of my mind and grabbed a standby scooter till the new engine arrived. After a few conversations, he had no option but to compensate. He offered me 100% free maintenance for 4yrs and additional 4yrs warranty. But I didn't wanna waste my time cuz I knew for sure that this scooter will develop new diseases.
- Headlights are so weak that it seems like they've placed a candle in instead of bulb.
- engine at certain rpm at the bottom end makes some peculiar tappet sounds. It's just a matter of time that the engines gives up.
- this is just a glorified toy from aprilia. Not meant to be used for utility and functionality.
- nobody will notice these things with a test ride. It comes from distressed ownership. I made a mistake buying it and very soon got rid of it. Just trying to save a few people from the horror.
- this is definitely not a scooter which you can keep for years together.

Re: Aprilia SR 150 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I am also finding that after 5th service , where the rollers, etc are replaced as per schedule, the bike has been feeling in general sluggish off the line and inclines or pillions seem more of a chore( more throttle required) than before the service.Originally posted by jermm_83 View PostAny difference in the machine after the company has made the switch in engine oil from grade 5w40(in the manual) to 20w40(new recommendation)?
Don't know what exactly has contributed to it or if its just placebo.
Any other owners want to weigh in?Last edited by jermm_83; 05-17-2018, 03:37 PM.
