Also, finding kerosene is a big deal nowadays, I am using diesel and gear oil and it works perfect for me.

What are your thoughts? Should I leave the current oil as it is performing just fine or should I go ahead and change? If change, any recommendations?

Have been using motul 7100 10w 50 from past 2 years on my fz25 , i found the bike gear shift smother, less heating in engine & the oil lasts for 5000 kms as compared to stock its is better in my opinion ,avaliability in 1.5 litre packs makes it value for money and you dont need to keep left overs

Thank you for this link. I always thought this was True about Kerosene, that they could damage.

neither kerosene nor wd-40 damages the o-rings of chain , you can use wd-40 to clean but don't just leave it after that , make sure you lubricate the chain with either gear oil, or any chain lube.

Most service centre use diesel to wash chain, which is not recommended.

            hello guys.
i have only ridden my bike for 6.7k kms and my front brake pads were worn out. and i had to replace the front brake pads.
when i took the old brake pads out, one of the pads was worn out completely while the other had some life left in it. you can see this in pictures.
and even the one which was completely worn out had some uneven wear as seen in pictures.
what could cause such issues?? what should i do about it?
i have installed new brake pads for the time being.

Installed: Lluvia Handlebar risers - 2 inch.

The story: I'm 6"3 and I started to find the riding posture of bike slightly uncomfortable, though by no means difficult/non manageable, in our ever increasing traffic. So I was fully confused on what to do. The options were to

              • To get a bike comfortable for my height,
              • To get a scooter for office runs which is just 12km one way
              • To bear the discomfort as it was no deal breaker as of now.

My usage is 90% inside the city and office run is my main commute which is also relatively short distance. My heart was convinced to buy the Himalayan but somehow I let my brain win this time. I decided not to make any costly purchase in these uncertain times of a pandemic. So decided to better my riding posture in existing bike.

I didn't want to spend much money as I didn't know what the impact of handlebar risers would be. So went to GP road, the holy grail of auto parts in Chennai, twice but unfortunately the risers weren't available. The mechanic in one of the shops also suggested me to stay away from the risers as the ones they had were short and won't do much justice and advised me to buy risers online. Kudos to that chap.

Quick Googling and browsing pointed me to Lluvia risers. So placed an order for 2 inch, biggest, Lluvia riser available with them in their official site. The product was delivered in 4 days and though the installation was a simple DIY, I got the risers installed in nearby mechanic shop.

My experience after installation: My posture has become completely relaxed. Barring the foot-pegs placement, the posture has become sort of a commanding one, somewhat similar to that on RE Himalayan. Though I was ready to sacrifice handling for comfort, I'm very happy to say that after installing risers, the handling of bike hasn't changed for my driving style. I don't get any sort of pain in my palms now after riding in heavy traffic and posture has become way easier on my back and palms. Finally am a happy customer! Some pics below for reference, apologies as I didn't take any pics before installing the handlebar riser to show the difference. Please feel free to PM me or quote me in case you need any info.

I am planning to install AUX LAMP and FRAME SLIDERS.
Could anyone suggest me what's best available out there?

Hi sometimes if you have the habit of placing hand on brake and riding there is more wear. It's a new bike. Unlikely the pistons are getting stuck somehow.

Hi how did you route the brake hose? I also wanted to try this mod for long time but felt it would stress the cables and hose.

I have been told by my SVC that to put BS6 varient of R15/MT15 or any other BS6 on Fi station, it requires a different adapted to connect to MID port. Is this true?
Please confirm if anyone have seen such thing.

I too had the same doubt, but the mechanic who installed told that the stock wires are long enough that there won't be any tension. The mechanic just pulled the wire and luckily there was enough reserve length to compensate the increase in height and I'm also not seeing any tension anywhere after the installation. Hope this answers!

                          Update: 100kms ride with pillion.

On Friday, as things were starting to look bleak for the days ahead, decided to do a quick ride to check how the handlebars are holding. So went for a short 100kms ride(with no stops in between) with pillion on the ECR and returned home very impressed. The posture has become very relaxed and comfortable for my height. I used to face discomfort on my back and palms even on a 10km ride with pillion but I didn't face any issues in my 100km ride with pillion. Came home with a smile on my face and put my bike to sleep till 31st of March. Overall I'm very happy about my decision to go with the handlebar risers.

Stay safe fellow bhpians and let's tackle this corona situation together!

                          Cheers!

Yesterday I gifted myself a new Yamaha FZ25 Monster Energy/Moto GP Edition just before enforcement of lockdown in Guwahati. Now I have to wait for 21 more days at least to ride it properly. I still have my Hornet 160R with me for its good average(52 kmpl plus) and other positives. What average does FZ25 give?

You are getting 50+ avg on hornet. Kudos man !! I couldn't manage that on my Trigger.

If you ride fast(around 80-100 kmph plus intermittently and 80 kmph on average) on highway and congested city roads (in mixed cycle) Hornet delivers around 47 kmpl. If the air filter is old/clogged up my Hornet delivers 43 kmpl. If you ride at around 50-65 kmph as I did in the running-in period and now available not so congested city roads in moderate speed my Hornet is certainly delivering 52kmpl plus and still counting. By the way, I maintain my bikes and car well.
