Performance - R15 and Fz25 are two different machines meant to do two different things. I knew what I was getting into before buying the fz25. R15 is pure top end, it wants to be revved. R15 V2 and fz25 are almost on the same level when it comes to performance. However you will enjoy the fz25 more in the city.

Refinement - As of now, I feel R15 is a step ahead in this one. But only time will tell how the fz25 will turn out to be.

Stability - R15 is better than fz25. But that doesn't mean fz25 is bad at stability, it's pretty good. With R15 you trade off comfort for superb stability and handling.

You will feel it's a downgrade if you give importance to these points - HORN, Plastics, 6th gear, liquid cooling, top end performance.

But if you plan to use it in the city, it's in fact an upgrade

    4. Gear shifts are hard at the beginning, but after 17700 odd kms of ownership, my gear box sometimes feels equipped with a slipper clutch.
    11. Engine heat will reduce as the bike beds in. Has one of the best heat management in engines of its class.

Have a wonderful ownership experience, brother.

Thanks JyotishmanS. Hope they become slick and smooth soon. yup, agree with you on the heat management. Since it's a new bike, I feel a bit of heat. Can't wait to get it serviced.

You're welcome bro. Just remember to adjust clutch plate pressure and gear lever congestion, if any, in your first service.

Has anyone adjusted their monoshock to a stiffer setup?.

There is big sweep curve flyover on my way to office. So when I corner, the expansion joints on them, unsettles the rear a lot.

Wondering if making it stiffer will help but at the cost of city rides becoming unbearable for the back.

And also, where can I buy the wrench to adjust the shocks so that I can test each step on my own?

^ hi you can make do with a monkey wrench. The tool in Bangalore should be available on AM Road perpendicular to JC Road.

            Hello Guys,

Has anyone in this group done Touring on their FZ25 with pillion? Can you share your experience regarding it? Is it comfortable for pillion for long distance?

            Thanks.

Yep, did almost 121km ride back to home with DAD, i was pillion. felt really comfortable. and even other times when i had pillion, they never complained.

although during rain, don't remove rear Tyre hugger otherwise your pillion will have dirty clothes.

                Hello,

Has anyone had any modifications done to their FZ25?
Like for example, I need somethings changed on my bike. Some for sheer convenience & some for better riding ability.

                1. Mirrors:
Has anyone replaced theirs? (Aliexpress cnc mirrors or other bike's stock mirrors)
The stock ones aren't helpful at all.

                2. Hazard light mod:
I'm planning on touring South India with my bike. This would help a great deal on highways.

                3. Tank bag:
As it's a plastic tank, the convenience of magnetic tank bags has lost upon us. Has anyone got a good branded bag with a transparent section for google maps viewing?

                4. Auxiliary lamps:
Solely for long rides. As in the city the stock LEDs do good justice.

Yeah, with my wife, for 100+ kms on multiple occasions, highest being 250+ kms. Bike is easy to ride and very comfortable foe pillion.

I know this has been asked before in this forum, but where can I get a ladies' footrest fitted preferably in Hyderabad? (Tried a few stores in Ram Koti, no luck) There is no official accessory for it by Yamaha. It is a necessity. I hear that Yamaha has officially announced the accessories for FZ V3, which has ladies' footrest, can it be fitted to this bike?

I got it as part of freebies offered to me here in Pune. I'm sure it wasn't specifically designed for FZ25. So you should be able to find them at any accessories store near you.

This may have been asked before, but can anyone tell me the first service interval of the FZ25 ABS?

I haven't got the service manual yet from the dealer, so am asking, is it 1 month/1k Kms or 2 months/1k kms.

Also, the vibrating head unit is very irritating, it even vibrates the headlight throw, as if the mount was put as an afterthought. Can anything be done about it?

First service is to be done at 60 days/1000 kms. Regarding shaking headlight, something might be a little loose. Get it checked once.

                          1. Try the mirrors from NS200. If youd prefer a thinner stalk, you can go for tvs apache ones. Im using tvs and both the vibrations and field of view have been sorted to a good extent. There's still some buzz at 75-85kmph but otherwise the mirrors are really good.
                          2. You can do the mod yourself if you only need both indicators flashing together. Otherwise you can install a highway flasher unit (like the one from autofy). Just connect the +,-, left and right wires of the module to the battery (through a switch) and blinkers. Those modules dont cost much, have many patterns and can be tucked away under the headlight assembly. Here's the link if you just need them both blinking together:

                          3. I personally don't use a tank bag but some people stick magnets or metal strips on the insides of their plastic tank panels to use their magnetic tank bags. That way you wont be limited to looking for only the non magnetic tank bags. (My setup includes Roadgods triton x2 saddlebags and the phone holder I got with my bolt charger on the tank)
                          4. Im using aux lamps i bought from a local garage for ₹1800. They are 20W each and are super bright. Haven't had any trouble with those so far. Just make sure they don't draw current from stock wiring, and do include a fuse in case they fail. But just to be a bit more on the safe side, i replaced the pilot and number plate halogen lamps with LEDs first. Stock headlight is really dangerous on long trips. I wouldn't recommend going to unknown roads without aux lamps when you know you'll be riding at night. Right now my lamps are mounted on the leg guards but Im planning on getting a mount which will get them parallel to the headlight.

If you'll be going through wet/dirty/no roads, I strongly recommend extending the front mudguard's back side so that it doesn't fling too much mud onto the engine. I think someone here attached the mudflap of NS200 to it and it worked well for them.

                          Hope I helped!

Did 645km (a mix of plains and hills) over 3 days with a pillion last month. Pillion didn't complain anytime and I was pretty comfortable too. The bike performed nicely and didn't feel stressed even on hillclimbs with us 2 and our luggage.

                              ^ Hi mine is a 2017 model. It says TBDFV6 and B97-H591A-00. Another number is SR112600 3540.

I serviced my front brakes. Changed the brake fluid and changed the master cylinder seals and piston(that comes as a kit with inner and outer springs and dust cap). There was no issue. Once in 2 years it's recommended to change the caliper dust seal and main seal. Since I was anyway doing so much changed out the master cylinder kit also. Some bikes have a minor kit which has just the o seals for the master cylinder. But this only has a master kit with everything fitted.

Everything is fairly straightforward if you follow the service manual. My first time doing this. Only oddity for me was a 11mm size on the release valve on the caliper.

Front Caliper seal kit 54B-W0047-00 cost Rs 108
Cylinder kit, master B97-F5807-00 cost Rs 294
STP brake parts cleaner Rs 350 (one third bottle used)
Motul DOT 3 and 4 fluid. Rs 405 MRP from Amazon. 500 ml bottle. Used half with cleaning flushing. Will use other half for the rear.

Hopefully will get around to doing the rear also soon.

Hmmm, thanks. so that means the chip is changed for ABS versions. will according to svc engineer Yamaha has only changed the diagnostic software to incorporate Abs, other things are same. and engine ecu doesn't share any data between ABS ecu. will see if current ECU runs on new harness or not. so far the equation has come down to 28k for abs retrofit.

here's some more data regarding abs for fz25/fazer25- might come handy for troubleshooting
