Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Even if the bike is able to handle it, there's no need for going as crazy as the 30 or 40w x2 lights. I have seen 18w spots adding sufficient illumination and putting zero stress on the electricals in the long run. The motorcycle I am talking about is a ninja 650. Here are the lights if you are interestedOriginally posted by slopegatri View Post

actually the lights i'm getting have low-mid-high option. so i won't be running them on 30wx2 all the time, more like 10wx2 or 20wx2 but 30wx2 is available whenever i need it.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View PostEven if the bike is able to handle it, there's no need for going as crazy as the 30 or 40w x2 lights. the one you linked still does not provide enough narrow beam, i want something like 10° or less beam pattern, that way it won't be a huge problem for incoming traffic.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

2- These spots have a fairly controlled throw and with proper leveling you can get decent illumination without blinding the oncoming traffic.

one of these --
1. 40wx2
2. 30wx2
this is the light i'm modding atm - BL70s. if i'm successful modding it for 24-30w, i won't buy above mentioned lights as the beam pattern of this light with convex lens is perfect for me. around 6-8° beam.
problem with 30° beam is you need to lower it too much, and thus long range is lost. but with narrow beam, it is basically like a laser light but won't distract incoming traffic.
°
as you can see in above crappy drawing, narrow beam is far reaching without disturbing eyesight of incoming traffic, but 30° beam either distracts incoming traffic if you want long distance throw, or doesn't provide long throw if you face it down. also it doesn't provide enough long distance intensity.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

First of all that's a neat illustration. Secondly you can never both maximum illumination and zero glare with reflectors. Not even projectors can achieve the perfect balance but still get pretty close. Try looking for a projector light or you can always adjust the angle for oncoming traffic and highway rides.Originally posted by slopegatri View Postone of these --

that's what i'm doing, by using a Plano-Convex lens. there's no reflector anymore as i have removed it. i'll post some pictures later.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View PostFirst of all that's a neat illustration. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
For chain cleaning and lubrication I get about 10 to 11 applications per 400ml bottle of Motul C1 and C2. Anything between 500 to 700km intervals usually. On amazon was on sale last week at Rs 830 for both. If someone is interested in knowing what the approx cost of maintaining the chain is. This is in dusty but dry area. Not much riding in rain.

I am not aware of any proper dedicated fender eliminator kit available for the fz25.Originally posted by Richustanly View PostAnybody used fender eliminator kit? If available please provide link

First of all, motul c1 and c2 are both pretty overrated. Don't get me wrong, I have used them for almost a year, they get the job done but for a pretty hefty price for the performance. I have been using 80w90 gear oil for more than six months now and it is a solid cost effective solution. Especially during monsoon when every chain Lubricant is bound to get washed away after a few splashes. 170 bucks for a litre which lasts like forever is a steal IMHO. On a side note, if you are hell bent on using lube sprays for the only advantage they provide over gear oil and that is lesser spillage, go with a high quality spray like wruth or oks.Originally posted by Kirankarunan View PostFor chain cleaning and lubrication I get about 10 to 11 applications per 400ml bottle of Motul C1 and C2. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thanks for the comments. I just use Motul because it's easily available where I am. And it works ok for me. Have seen Wurth and OKS used in some places. Will give it a try. Gear oil for my use attracts lot of dirt on the chain. I use it on another non o ring chain bike. You are right for the money spent it's awesome. I want to see how long the stock chain kit lasts and then modify the service procedure.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View Post

A full chain kit costs about 2500. So in some ways not much gained by spending more on lubricant and getting more life. Bike behaves much nicer on a well lubed chain. Still early days observing how it all works out. Thanks again.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Every kind of lubricant is going to attract some dirt. I was concerned about it too, but I have compared in on my weekly 100 kms rides and the dust accumulation is 80% the same. Also, that 170 rupees bottle is still 70% left, so the cost effectiveness even in the long run is unbeatable. One more thing, I'm lucky to be living in Uttarakhand and the environment does contribute to an extent.Originally posted by Kirankarunan View PostThanks for the comments. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes you are right. I am trying to balance between the cleaning and lubrication interval and the cost of the oil. Right now if the interval is a little longer is better for me. Takes me about 30 mins to do it fully. Not able to spend as much time as I would like to on maintaining the bike. Bangalore city the areas I ride are very dusty unfortunately.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View PostAlso, that 170 rupees bottle is still 70% left, so the cost effectiveness even in the long run is unbeatable.
