Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Any experience on installing better mud guard in the rear and mud flap for the front mud guard ? Asked this question couple of weeks ago and no one responded. Is no one bothered that muck thrown by front wheel gets all the way to the top of the engine head and may clog the oil cooler fins as well...

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
well, i know one solution which is working for me so far, use 200ns's mudflap on front mudguard and fix it with double sided tape + single nut-bolt in middle for extra strength.Originally posted by bullfrog View PostAny experience on installing better mud guard in the rear and mud flap for the front mud guard ? you can also try rubber flaps but they look really bad and difficult to attach also. other option is too look on ebay for mudguard extensions but they cost alot. apart from that, i don't think any other bike's fender will fit easily on fz25.

Hey. Appreciate the response. What about the rear tyre ? Can we use a better coverage mudguard/hugger from FZS ?Originally posted by slopegatri View Postwell, i know one solution which is working for me so far, use 200ns's mudflap on front mudguard and fix it with double sided tape + single nut-bolt in middle for extra strength.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
without modding the swingarm it's really difficult, i haven't really looked on to it though so can't really say for sure. its easier to clean rear side and it doesn't get that dirty when riding the bike below 45kph for me. so honestly don't really want to change anything on rear. front was more important for me as you said radiator and upper engine area was getting muddy, it was also difficult to clean.Originally posted by bullfrog View PostHey. [QUOTE=JyotishmanS;1347320]almost all cars have similar life for 50k due to a lot of wear and tear as 100+ bhp being pushed across and as for BMW and Audi you are talking power figures north of 200+ bhp/NM of torque...Originally posted by theironhorse99 View PostWell, even Audis and Mercedes need clutch plate changes every 50k kms, so i guess you're extending.
as for a small capacity motorcycle 25k is indeed stupidity. even badly maintained motorcycles last 40k+ for clutch plate changes"A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

[QUOTE=theironhorse99;1347322]What do clutch plates do? Create friction. What does friction do? Deterioration. You can wait and wait, i changed my first clutch plate on my fz16 at 36000 kms, and that too because the SVC guy told me to. But, to keep performance premium, which should be the objective and not making it antiquity, i believe doing what the service manual says is best.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View Post

[QUOTE=JyotishmanS;1347324]service manual is a generic situation. a well maintained bike does not really need to follow the service manual apart from the BAU oil/filter/air filter change.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View PostWhat do clutch plates do? [QUOTE=theironhorse99;1347325]Okay. You're pretty inclined to disagree, so I'll agree. You're right. I'll change my clutch plate at 1 lakh km and come back to you.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi thanks for replying. I was talking about the rotor not the pad. Pads can wear much faster depending on use.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postwhat i meant was 25k is enough life for a pad and even if you have material left change the pads. changing pads will be much cheaper than replacing the rotor.
for CBR pads like 18k for a 150cc bike they last about 25k km. for your bike anything between 18-24k of pad life is agood deal and should be replaced
Regarding clutch plate replacement, it depends so much on use. I have seen it go at 1200km on a new bike and new rider because being ridden on half clutch. And lasting many 10s of thousands of km also if maintained well as you said. Besides noting power loss I don't know the technical way of assessing when to change.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
It voids the electrical warranty.Originally posted by skandhan View PostI have completed 1.2k kms in my fz25(1st service done at 817kms)
I have noticed the following new problems:
1. The chain gets dry within 100-150kms. Not an issue with Chain. Check the product that you are using.
2. My vehicles' rear view mirrors are round in shape(like the ones in fz16), unlike the ones found in fz25. Showroom replaced them with FZ16's RVMs. Ask them to replace.
3. There are some vibrations in the foot peg area... mainly near 5k rpm... its not a lot but i have heard that yamaha bikes dont vibrate a lot so this raises a bit of concern to me. These will go gradually. 1200 kms is to early for engine to setlle in.
Other than this, the bike is good... easily manages my daily commute of 50kms in Bangalore city traffic with a mileage of 35kmpl.
Few more questions:
1. When can I start taking the bike for touring and go like 100km/h+? During run-in, dont hit highways.
2. Is it safe to keep my vehicle documents(xerox) in the bike? Depends on city. In Hyderabad, there is an app provided by the government with all vehicle documents.
3. Is is safe to install aftermarket headlights? I have head that this voids the electrical warranty.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hello mates,
I'm facing two issues with my bike.
1. Gear shifts have become hard.
2. The throttle, only when the bike is started, is very hard to rotate but becomes normal once it is raised a bit. Then no hardness is faced from then on.
Any pointers on above issue would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Check Chain slack (40-45mm) if not adjust clutch.Originally posted by GandalfTheGrey View Post1. Gear shifts have become hard.
Check throttle free play, it's mentioned in manual. Even if it still causing issue then you'll have to lube wire. For lubing you can use chain lube too.Originally posted by GandalfTheGrey View Post2.
