Engine and other critical components are not touched till date and it's running fine as it was in Day1, with no niggling issues. But, seeing this thread I was perplexed to see so many niggles and issues in a Yamaha which is a Japanese product(Which people equate to reliability). So, I'm not convinced that only a Japanese is reliable. Other brands are also as reliable as it could get.
All bike brands give this level of reliability these days. But yes, on a Japanese, very little chances you will be stranded.

Niggles on this thread are mainly related to coin rattling, hard gears etc. You can chalk it to character of the bike. Its not same as break down.

if it helps you, i would like to add that my bike's performance is good (apart from clunky gears). its a revv happy bike , and we should not expect smoothness of Unicorn from it. the maintenance is negligible (apart from engine oil & other regular stuff) . the average is around 32 to 38 which is good for a 250 cc bike. overall a competitive product at this price point.

PS my usage is 80 % city : 20% Highway.

Hi, I just noticed today during cleaning that the o ring on one link of my chain has popped. The bike has run 10k kms. Should I replace the entire set? or will the bike run for a few 1000 more km's?

I think you better change it. Not worth waiting for further damage.

It's just regular wear and tear. The chain will last long if lubricated regularly. The service manual has a spec for the length of 15 links. I don't remember the value now. When it's out of spec change it then. Is my opinion. Someone had posted the manual a few pages back.

I think I might be having a problem similar to what Harrisoncool faced with his bike's front end.

The handlebar feels slightly tilted to the right. My left palm and wrist hurts if I ride for more than 10 minutes. Didn't have this issue with my friend's FZ25. Any ideas?

Note: my bike was wobbling a lot when I got it. Was fixed after the Yamaha technician fiddled with the coneset. Maybe it is related to this?

What worse can happen when running more with a busted O ring ? Going to only damage few more O rings. It is not going to cause any damage to the bike. Nothing to panic. Anyway you will be replacing the full chain kit (chain+ 2 Sprockets).

I think you can change when you can.

Crack the link open, put a fresh link or O ring if so worried.

2-3 O rings breaking off is considered normal though.
Also, lube that part extra. That's all you need to do.

Cheers !

The older versions of the ns were the best, have come across a lot of issues on the newer ns models.

Had a chance to check this today. My dealer in Bangalore didn't have the pricing. Which means that not been ordered so far. I am sure some bikes would have crossed 30k by now and if it's still running it's a good thing.

The fork oil seal is part number 4EB-23145-01 and cost Rs 250 each. Same as other fz series. Fork oil is part number 90793-AD80300 and 500ml in a bottle. Need 2 for two legs. Rs 167 each. Only the springs are different from other FZ bikes. They didn't have them. The dust cap also wasn't in stock. Usual practice is only change the seal and oil. That's it.

If you are changing springs insist that you need the fz 25 ones specifically. The mechanic at the dealership told both work. But I think there is difference in spring rate.

Did you run without lubricant for long time ? Or in constant wet weather ?
