Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
So true Amri bhai. Even the R1 and R1M was recalled due to faulty transmission system last year. And to be frank, everyday bikes go through a lot of thrashing that we don't acknowledge.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View PostNo motorcycle, and I repeat no motorcycle in the world is niggles free.

If no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. Is it(Peace of mind) just a brain washing tactics.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View PostNo motorcycle, and I repeat no motorcycle in the world is niggles free.

Japanese engines last a long time. They are easy on the pocket as well.Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostIf no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The thing is that the Japs were at the forefront of motorcycle design and their track record in reliability, longevity and maintenance is excellent. They have been around a long time. Some riders in the US feel bored with their Japs as they keep going on and on without any drama or with minimal fuss. The difference is that they take much more interest in maintenance than us.Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostIf no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. Due to our extreme liking for VFM and the lax laws, they do cut costs and the overall quality is not the same as you get abroad in more mature/developed markets. This can result in small niggles which we see randomly. The first Japs which came here were very reliable and had quality stamped all over them. My father used to service our CD100 once a year. It still runs well after 1L kms (only clutch plates were changed). Few more examples - Karizma, GS150R, FZ16 v1, R15 v1, Gladiator, SS 125, unicorn (at least the ones before 2010). With Bajaj and TVS providing more features/power for lesser money, the Japs just couldn't provide the same level of quality they used to give earlier.
This is not to belittle Bajaj or TVS, they too have taken giant steps forward in terms of reliability. They are as reliable as the Japs if you ask me. The only things which I don't like is the fit and finish on some Bajaj bikes, and the size of the TVS bikes (they are built for the shorter/smaller riders IMO).
OT done.Last edited by Shashank K R; 09-02-2018, 02:01 AM.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Thanks imshivs7 and Shashank K R for your kind replies. The thing is I'm having a Bajaj 200NS for the past 6 years with odometer around 80,000 kms and the product is reliable till date. Engine and other critical components are not touched till date and it's running fine as it was in Day1, with no niggling issues. But, seeing this thread I was perplexed to see so many niggles and issues in a Yamaha which is a Japanese product(Which people equate to reliability). So, I'm not convinced that only a Japanese is reliable. Other brands are also as reliable as it could get.

No it's not like that there some basic maintenance and then there is spares usually in Japanese products the spares don't go often even if they go they are designed modular so you don't have to replace the whole system best example Toyota. It's like that there will be design flaws in any product per se.Look at the product and cross check does it have it what you look for.European bikes/cars are fun to drive but in maintenance and part reliability Japanese are always better in my experience.Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostIf no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. People usually have a habit of moaning about the smallest of things. Also, I have heard plenty of problems with the the ns/rs. It's directly related to how well you maintain your bike.Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostThanks imshivs7 and Shashank K R for your kind replies. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
No, actually indian companies like tvs , mahindra are more reliable and gives superior quality than these Japanese bikes. Japanese motorcycle quality is rapidly falling in india .Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostIf no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. Actually people blindly worship Japanese brands. Time has changed and indian companies are becoming more reliable than japs.Originally posted by Jackharrisw View PostIf no motorcycles are niggle free, then why people say that Japanese automobiles(CAR/MOTORCYCLES) give peace of mind. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Just for example, compare similary priced honda aviator and tvs jupiter, you'll get to understand what's robust quality in tvs . Even their victor 110 has better fit n finish and quality than all bikes upto 125cc in honda. Honda doesn't even give handlebar end weights in their premium 160cc hornet. See quality of rtr 160 4v compared to hornet. Only Yamaha among Japanese companies is able to maintain a bit of Japanese quality in recent times.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostThe thing is that the Japs were at the forefront of motorcycle design and their track record in reliability, longevity and maintenance is excellent. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
thankfully I haven’t had a problem in a year and a half old bike now.....i redline it in 5th gear regularly(does 145km/h), still no engine problems or any kind of wired noise apart from the tappet tick when the engine is hot.Originally posted by #bpk View PostTÜRBØ
