I searched in the Service Manual as well. There is no specific info around ABS than the posted one. Let me know which photos you want. I will do my best and fast to get them uploaded.

Update - Today I went to RTO for vehicle passing. There were 15 bikes (13 FZS and 2 FZ25) from the dealership for passing. The sales seems to be all time high for FZ series.

Congrats on the new bike! I bought the dark matt blue color on March 10th. Loving every moment on it! Kindly ping me your whatsapp number so that the two can help each other out for any issues on our new beasts.

I have a query, there is a sound ( faint squeeek... squeeek) of the front disc rubbing with the brake pads when I move the front wheel by hand after putting it on the centre stand. It feels as if the brakes are touching the disc even when the front brake lever untouched. Should I get it checked or it will go away after I cross 100 kms (at 45 kms now)?

Not of manual, but of the bike . you will need a ruler scale for it. and just take measurements/pictures of these locations -

in above pic, both point 1 should be touching the ruler and rear brake disc, and then see if point 2 has any gap between ruler and abs disk. if possible measure the gap do same for front wheel as well.

it will go away after 100-200km depending on how you use front brakes. mine was there for almost 900km.

For my bike there no such noise. However as mentioned here its common until you break in the bike. Hope to see it goes away soon.

Video taken this evening, hope the noise will go away as mentioned by the members and not wear out the pads.
slopegatri, should I use the front brakes more often then?

Also, is it normal for an ABS bike to have a 'softer/spongier' front brake feel than non ABS?
In my Discover, I could feel the front pads touching the disc with my fingers on the brake lever.

Btw, I'm loving that smell of the new engine when it gets hot.

Use brakes just normally according to your riding style because that's more important than noise. it will go away with time. it's not a huge issue. you can try brake cleaners to clean the disk. that will help somewhat.

btw, in those video clips, when you were moving wheel, was ignition switch on or off ?

Hello all,

I have taken my FZ25 ABS model delivery on 8th March, 2019. So far I have clocked over 120 km.
My observations so far are as follows:

Positives:
1. The engine is buttery smooth & loves to be revved.
2. Leaning in while taking U turns & on fast corners the bike gives a very good feeling & inspires confidence. Can achieve good lean angles.
3. Mileage as per the console is around 32-34. As of my 100+ km.
4. The pickup is good in traffic. Don't know about highway cruising speeds as I have decided to let it run for a 1000 km on short rides & then go on a long ride.
5. The bike feels nimble, making it a breeze to maneuver in the city traffic.

Not so Positives:

1. Gearbox is clunky at best & gets worse when the engine is heated (say after a ride of 20+ km or in traffic with bike on for more than half hour).
2. Never found neutral when the bike was turned on. Had to kill the engine to find neutral, that too by moving the bike forward & backwards.
3. Rear mirrors are useless. The image we see in the mirrors need to be zoomed out. It's as is & cannot be of any use as they cannot project what's behind very well.
4. Coming from a 2006 Bajaj Pulsar 150 UG2 for 9 years & a 2010 TVS Apache RTR 160 for over 1 year, the handle bars gave me pain in the wrist.
5. Headlight throw is decent but illumination isn't good at all.
Overall, it is a very pleasant experience. Makes me wanna ride this machine more & more. Of course it has some niggles, but overtime hopefully they will be negated.

Queries:
I know this has been asked before in this forum, but where can I get a ladies' footrest fitted preferably in Hyderabad? (Tried a few stores in Ram Koti, no luck) There is no official accessory for it by Yamaha. It is a necessity. I hear that Yamaha has officially announced the accessories for FZ V3, which has ladies' footrest, can it be fitted to this bike?

Regards,
Narender

• Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences

Hi everyone, I am currently the proud owner of a FZ25 ABS.
I booked my bike on 2nd February 2019 from Lower Parel Kamla Yamaha, I was told that the bike would need atleast 30 days to get delivered (I had already made up my mind that the ABS version is which I want and hence 30 days wasn't a big issue). But I needed that update from Kamla Yamaha people as to where the bike has reached, is it dispatched or so which they clearly failed to communicate.

I asked Yamaha if I could get my bike delivered on 26th February as it was my birthday, but they insisted on the 30 day wait period.

Finally on 25th Feb I called them asking was the bike available tomorrow but they didn't have any update. Thankfully my friend informed that the Pune Yamaha showroom has already received the bikes so why haven't you received yet. On asking Kamala Yamaha they said it hasn't arrived yet but called within an hour saying the bike has arrived but on TC number.

I wanted my bike fully registered hence waited till 9th March and finally got the delivery of my dark matter blue FZ25 ABS.

Background about me: I am 28 years, 5'4" tall and weight is 56kg.

Since then, I have clocked almost 200kms with a 60:40 ratio in highway and city.
It's showing milage at 31.5km/l however 200kms is very small amount and I hope that milage will increase as I ride it further.

Pros:
The bike itself is very stable and stays nimble in city commutes.
The bike weights 152 and I 56 but still feels quite light once you start riding.
The led lamp is quite good as compared to the previous version of FZ25 is what I felt after talking with other FZ25 owners.
Ride quality is very smooth along with the monoshock and front suspension.
Seat is comfortable for long rides (it takes me an hour one way to commute every day).
ABS on the bike is just awesome and I love it to the core.

Cons:
The pass button could have been kept as the initial was in form of a trigger as it is a bit hard to press in city traffic.
There is a need for gear display (not that I need it but other bikes in the same segment are also offering it).
Gear shift Indicator not present.
The whole digital console is very much out of your riding sight hence the rider has to look down to see and read it.
Gear shift-- one of the things Yamaha need to take note on - the 1st, neutral and 2nd gear are as hard to find as water in desert. Remaining gears are smooth as butter. The bike will only go in neutral when I switch off ignition. I literally have to stand on the gear to shift it to 2nd or 1st. (I hope after my first service this problem will be solved permanently).

Like all people the FZ25 ABS has its own good and bad qualities. But in the end no matter what problems it gives me I will still love it.

This is all I can think of as of now...I'll be back with more updates as I clock even more kms on the bike and will surely share my experiences.

I do not feel so. But the experience from bike to bike will differ. Also the previous bike experience will add up too. Yesterday, I felt the ABS pulsation on the rear brake. I was trying to test it and was felt on rear brake. Surprisingly, I did not experience it on front. I will keep on trying and will update.

This morning, I checked freewheeling front and rear to check the squeaking. I did not hear any noise. You can check if the disc is flat, I mean inspect visually and if you find a fault get back to the dealer.

@slopegatri the ignition was off.
hmm, can you try this - ride the bike a little and top speed should be more than 10km/h. then stop the bike and kill the ignition using kill switch only don't switch off ignition switch. then move wheels by hand and see if it squeaks same as before or if there is difference.

if it doesn't squeak as much, then maybe in switch off situation the ABS modulator is creating some pressure in brake line or something. that's why brake pads are slightly pressed. but this is just pure speculation by me. don't take it as a fact. i have almost no experience with abs apart from riding an cbr250ABS for 350km in 3-4 days back in 2012/13. although i'm reading a lot about abs as i'm looking to retrofit ABS on my fz25.

To Other FZ25 ABS owners, i have a request if you can take pictures as described here in this post. it will help me alot. thanks.

I think this is common when we shift to ABS from non ABS.

My Grand i10 (Non-ABS) gives me a feel on my right foot when I apply the brakes (that brakes are applied now), but the brakes feel a bit spongy when I drive my sister's Verna(ABS).

I checked the disc, it appears flat and gives a uniform squeek.

Hi leo, thanks for the advice will surely try it. I hope it works, it really is a menace currently to shift low gears that too during peak traffic in Mumbai.
