    Hi Guys,
    I have few questions -
    1. When to refuel the bike? I am refueling when I see one bar. How much fuel would be there if I see one bar?
    2. How long I can push if I see blinking bar on fuel meter?
    3. There is a stage when the fuel meter shows two bars and all of sudden it becomes one and becomes 2 after a while? It keep on changing until I see one bar constant. My fuel meter does not really stay long enough on 2 bars.
    4. Is there a way I can say the shown mileage on console is correct one?

Last one - how much it costs in Pune, around Hinjewadi for the number plate? I have the plates but need to put the number stickers on them. My dealer said he will not provide the number stickers. I have to get them by myself.

      1. as soon as it hits reserve fill it up. basically you gotta always keep atleast 2-3ltrs of fuel in tank.
      2. around 50-80km depending on riding style. but i won't recommend it.
      3. yeah it does that. because fuel moves around while riding.
      4. the mileage it shows is of last 100km. not really that accurate but you can say it is +/-5km/l of actual mileage.

        .
Hi. As mentioned above, keep at least 2.1 to 3 liters always. The fuel pump is cooled by the liquid fuel around it. It will run in lower level also but will slowly damage the pump. One of the most expensive parts on the bike is the pump. Very delicate non serviceable item.

If you average around 35kmpl, can say fuel between 350 to 385km on a full tank. 14 litre tank. The trip meters come handy to track that number.

I enjoyed nearly 2 weeks of a smooth and free feeling. I want it back.

Can anyone suggest what could be the reason for this?... Could it be clutch related, with the cable going lose or something or the chain?. Chain slack seems to be good and I have done only about 150 kms after the service.

The gear shifts were always hard and icky and still is, but got used to it anyways.

Not sure how to explain it to the SVC either. They might just find it normal.
Have you checked your clutch cable? It might be slightly worn off at 14k+ kms. Also, get your tappets checked. It might also be that your chain needs some good maintenance.

[QUOTE=slopegatri;1368945]hmm, can you try this - ride the bike a little and top speed should be more than 10km/h. then stop the bike and kill the ignition using kill switch only don't switch off ignition switch. then move wheels by hand and see if it squeaks same as before or if there is difference.

Same squeak, hope it will go away. Thank you for the help man!

The bike will only go in neutral when I switch off ignition. I literally have to stand on the gear to shift it to 2nd or 1st. (I hope after my first service this problem will be solved permanently).

when ever I get struck with downshifting issue of 2nd or 1st gear, I slightly release the clutch lever (more or less halfway) and then downshift. works every time for me though. (FZS v2 owner here)

Your motorcycle has a constant-mesh sequential transmission, and for it to work well both the input and output shaft needs to be in motion, hence why you don't feel any issues when shifting from 2~5 and back, because obviously the motor would be running and the rear wheel would be turning.

But that is not the case when shifting gears on a stationary motorcycle, hence why it is better to downshift to 1st before coming to a halt.

But if you still wish to shift when stationary you can do so by moving the motorcycle a bit, letting the clutch out, or simply rocking it a bit to and fro.

What you should never do is apply excess force on the shifter lever as that would simply result in undue wear and tear that could result in transmission shifting issues.

A little bit of finesse can increase longevity by a great margin, for both the ride as well as the rider.

                Cheers,

I had asked the service advisor to change the clutch cable as well. But he told it's fine and doesn't need to be changed for now.

Yes, I will have to get tappets checked during next service, but I am worried, if they do a shoddy job, it might lead to more issues as the correct clearance matters a lot.

Chain seems to be good and I regularly clean and lube it, either at the SVC or by myself. But vibes have increased, so not sure.

And I went for my first long ride after the service today. I noticed that the vibration/buzz at the footpegs, seat and tank have increased considerably at around 5k to 6k rpm( around 80 to 90kmph, my cruising speed) as compared to my earlier rides. I never had a tingly foot or bum after rides till date, but today experienced it. Thankfully the handlebar vibes are negligible.

Need to add that to my checklist too .

But overall, the bikes acceleration still gives me an ear to ear grin even after 1.5 years of riding it. Usually you get used to the power, but I don't feel like I need more as it has never ever disappointed me in any overtake situation. Point and Shoot .

Do check your chassis mount points for loose bolts, and your footpegs similarly. Have you overdone your engine oil refill duration at any service? If yes, then it's most certainly tappets. Also, the rev range of your vibrations is the resonance range of fz25 and vibrates on all fz25s.

I changed my throttle cable and clutch cable preventively at 24000km. The throttle cable was like new. The clutch cable had frayed slightly at the bottom. I feel the clutch cable would have run a few more thousand kms but I learnt my lesson getting stranded when my battery died. The SC hardly changes these cables it seems. The clutch cable part number is B97-F6335-01 and cost Rs 162. The accelerator cable part number is B97-F63020000 and cost Rs 501.

There was an unstable idle issue and engine shutting off in slow traffic for sometime. I cleaned the throttle body and injector myself. The throttle body was very dirty and the space between the throttle plate and valve body had closed up. I used 3M throttle plate cleaner off Amazon @Rs 297. Used about a third of the bottle. This stuff does damage the connection rubber between throttle body and intake. So be careful there.

If anyone is doing it, remember to take pics of how everything goes back together. Ensure fuel lines are inserted back fully till it clicks in. The throttle position sensor and fast idle device should not be removed from the body. Very time consuming job to do correctly. Just to check, took the fuel pump also out to clean. Cleaned the fuel filter and tank and checked everything out for specs. Thankfully was able to put everything back together and seems to be working fine. It's idling much better. Have to do a few hundred kms to know if I did alright.

Hi the clutch cable doesn't spoil so soon in my opinion. Sometimes the service guys might have left some screws on the panels while removing it to clean the injector. The tappets have a service schedule to get checked every 5000km. It's a sensitive part and slightly out of spec also sound changes. Hope your issues sort out.

                        Hello all,

I bought a 2019 fz25 abs version, cyan blue in feb 2019 for 1.74 lacs on-road in Bangalore. I am coming from an R15 V2 after riding it for 4 years. The main reason I decided to move away from the R15 is due to its aggressive riding stance and ever increasing bangalore traffic (I travel around 4 hours a day). I primarily used R15 V2 for commuting to office and will do the same with my new fz25.

I bought the new fz25 from bangalore wheels rajajinagar bangalore. It was a smooth experience at the showroom and Surya (the sales manager was super helpful). Bought the cyan blue color as I felt matte black would look dirty even with the slightest amount of dust, and my R15's color was more or less similar to matte black of fz25.

                        Here are my impressions -

                        1. Riding position is a balance of relaxed and sporty. Perfect for the city.
                        2. Low end torque is pretty good. More than adequate for the city.
                        3. Engine not as revv happy like the R15, but then again you don't want to revv hard in the city to extract power from the engine in city.
                        4. Yes, gear shifts are pretty hard. Takes some time to get used to the hard gear shifts. People say it should smoothen out later on. But I have a feeling this will still be there. You will have a hard time finding neutral, especially when the engine is hot.
                        5. Riding comfort is good for both rider and the pillion.
                        6. Suspension is a perfect balance between stiff and soft. It's awesome.
                        7. Headlights are good enough for the city, not sure about highways. High beam is a joke. But overall headlights are decent for the city.
                        8. Looks are subjective, but I love the look of the bike, especially the tail light. fz25 is subtle, but has a good street presence.
                        9. I love the stubby exhaust and sounds pretty good.
                        10. Dual channel ABS is a life saver and works pretty good, you will never know when you might need it. I hate yamaha for not introducing abs until it was mandated. Safety first.
                        11. Engine heat is apparent in bumper to bumper traffic. (I travel on the ORR in bangalore, heavy traffic). But the heat is bearable and might get better after the first service.
                        12. I miss liquid cooling, and I feel there's a slight loss in power delivery when the engine heats in bumper to bumper traffic.
                        13. I feel the clutch is slightly hard and you will feel it in heavy traffic. slipper clutch would have been very helpful, considering this is a street fighter and many people will ride it in city traffic.
                        14. Plastic quality is OK, i feel R15 has better plastics.
                        15. Instrument cluster is basic, could have given a better instrument cluster.
                        16. HORN is again OK. R15 has better horn.
                        17. Miss the dedicated pass light switch.
                        18. Currently getting a mileage of 30 kms per litre.

It's a very fun to ride mature motorcycle, I feel it's the best 250CC value for money bike in INDIA.

Some update regarding ABS retrofit. yesterday the bike arrived in showroom and thankfully they let me take pictures and measurements. after that i asked about parts catalog and sat there comparing parts with non abs version. good news is it's possible to retrofit. but the bad news is, almost 120 parts are required some of it are replacements and some are additions( around 98). so that bumps up the total cost to almost 45k.

now, this cost can be brought down to 30k, if we use same rims with some lathe work required and don't replace speedo console and Ecu (for engine, not abs). there's a minor revision to ECU, old part was B97H591A00 new one is B97H591A10, and speedo console B97H350000 to B97H350010. now i don't know what has been changed in ECU as the pin count is same but more pins are populated now, but on speedo console all they have changed is, just solder the abs led. as older one had it missing. pin count is same as before. check attached image of non abs speedo.

now i'm waiting for workshop manual to arrive in svc, it will clear remaining doubts. will retrofit only after i'm 100% sure. will update here once i get it.

^ wow nice detailed work. I think the ECU self diagnostic test in the beginning when the ignition is in on position would have to include the ABS also getting tested. Am guessing that's what one of the ECU changes are about. Wonder if that's done by the console or ECU.

                              18. Currently getting a mileage of 30 kms per litre.

It's a very fun to ride mature motorcycle, I feel it's the best 250CC value for money bike in INDIA.
Congratulations on the new bike. I will touch only your problem points here.
                              4. Gear shifts are hard at the beginning, but after 17700 odd kms of ownership, my gear box sometimes feels equipped with a slipper clutch.
                              11. Engine heat will reduce as the bike beds in. Has one of the best heat management in engines of its class.

Have a wonderful ownership experience, brother.

Congrats for the new bike bro. Since you are coming from R15, I have a question to you. How would you compare the performance, refinement and stability of FZ25 compared with R15. Do you feel FZ25 like a downgrade compared with R15.
