A bike rammed my bike's exaust in traffic and my exaust got bent. It happened around 5 k kms before. Now the fuel efficiency has droped from 35 kmpl to 33kmpl( i have a feeling that my riding riding style has become some what aggresive )

1, is it because of the bent exaust? Does it hinder the outflow and lead to poor engine mileage or is it just that i have become a aggressive rider. Rest everything is fine in my bike and i have serviced it every 5000 km

2, im planning to swap my exaust with the exaust of abs model, can some one give me the part no. of old and new exaust?

3, also whats the life of front tyre svc guys have told me its 24000 km my bike completed 20200 kms

4, some vibration started arising in front handle bar after 19000 kms and now it feels like some thing is bothering the bike to not cruise smoothly ( very evident at 5th gear 50kmph ) i have an instinct that its because of worn out front tyres and the tyre pressure is all well. Do u guys have any other reason?

Hi the tire will have a tread wear index. Three lines running across the tread marked TWI. If they are the same level at the tread then definitely yes time to change. Much safer to change earlier also as the front does most of the braking duty. If you check wheel balancing, can rule out that as cause of vibration.

Since a week now, I have been facing really sluggish acceleration. Yesterday, the bike was struggling after 115kph. There's also a whining sound coming from engine for about a second everytime I leave the clutch lever. I have changed engine oil two days back.

I did adjust my tappets about a month back. I hope it's related to that. My odo is at 18000+ kms.

                Guys.. need help.
I am due for my first oil change after 1000 kms next week. I am planning on Shell Advance AX7 Semi Synthetic as all my bikes and car run on Shell and I have very good experience. However, the problem is that the FZ25 will need 1.45 lit of oil per service manual. And I am not sure if I can store the remaining 0.55 lit oil till next oil change and use it at that time. The bottles available are only in 1 lit on Amazon or nearby Shell Petrol pump.

One more quesion - Does it void warranty if I do not use Yamalube. The suggested grade is 10W40 and Shell Advance AX7 is 10W40.

                Please advise.

I haven't got the service manual yet from the dealer, so am asking, is it 1 month/1k Kms or 2 months/1k kms.

Also, the vibrating head unit is very irritating, it even vibrates the headlight throw, as if the mount was put as an afterthought. Can anything be done about it?
My FZ25 is due for first service next week. I think the first service is 1 month or 1000 kms. I will post pics of service manual for reference. and you are right, the shaky headlight is pain, especially on bad roads. I am asking this to be fixed in first service.

                  1. Mirrors:
Has anyone replaced theirs? (Aliexpress cnc mirrors or other bike's stock mirrors)
The stock ones aren't helpful at all.

                  2. Hazard light mod:
I'm planning on touring South India with my bike. This would help a great deal on highways.

                  4. Auxiliary lamps:
Solely for long rides. As in the city the stock LEDs do good justice.

                  Regards,
                  Narender
Mirrors - the best modification you can do is to remove them.... jokes apart ... I removed my mirrors once bike was shown to RTO officer. They are useless.

Lights - any mods on lights/electricals will void warranty. If your bike is new avoid these mods.

Congratulations for your new ride buddy. Regarding the warranty, your owner's manual will confirm that.
Outside the showroom you can use whatever oil you prefer with the recommended grade provided you have the oil filter.
About storing the oil, yes you can store it and only buy a 1 litre bottle next time.

Sometimes the showroom guys agree to put Motul without noting that anywhere

                    Happy riding

But that is not the case when shifting gears on a stationary motorcycle, hence why it is better to downshift to 1st before coming to a halt.

But if you still wish to shift when stationary you can do so by moving the motorcycle a bit, letting the clutch out, or simply rocking it a bit to and fro.

What you should never do is apply excess force on the shifter lever as that would simply result in undue wear and tear that could result in transmission shifting issues.

A little bit of finesse can increase longevity by a great margin, for both the ride as well as the rider.

                      Cheers,

Thanks Ashwin for explaining this, actually i did feel the difference of a constant mesh transmission (I had the 2010 FZ16 model): the bike actually gives you a time frame to shift the gears but Indians are apparently used to shift down once the bike is at a standstill (thanks to all the older version bikes which have made us form this habit) .

the current technology used in bikes is pretty advanced and most people are not aware of its working. By trying to force the gears to shift we are actually harming the engine & the gears i agree.
I have now formed a habit of shifting according to the constant mesh transmission but still the mumbai traffic gets the better of me sometimes.

Even though its a machine it tries to tell us where we are going wrong & stops us from doing so.

Have seen the tendency to remove the mirrors outright here in hyd. Hadn't seen/noticed that anywhere before. Do you think that's a safe practice?

If you feel the mirrors are useless, get the ones with a longer stalk. Apache mirrors and Pulsar 135 mirrors work good on the FZ25.

It's been about 15 days that I started facing sluggish acceleration. It kept increasing until I went to the mechanic day before yesterday. He found the spark plug to be drier than normal. He adjusted idle RPM and the fuel gauge and the low end torque is now back to normal. But, the bike is struggling and very harsh past 95 kph. I took her to 122kph too but there was just too much vibration and harshness. What could be the causes? Odo reading is 18200 kms.
