Congrats to all of you'll here having the pocket rocket!
    I have a quick question.
How is the 390s performance as a two up tourer?
I tour extensively with a pillion, having a RE Thunderbird 500 at present.
Looking to switch over to the Duke.
Wanting to know if anyone has toured with a pillion & what mods can be done to increase pillion comfort.
Hey, I picked up the D390 for touring but solo.. I wouldn't recommend a pillion without a custom back rest support & some cage like thing around the bike to carry luggage..
you can tour on the 390, but for a 2-person touring, you might have to take a look at other options due to the small 13.5 liter tank, you would have reduced mileage.. 2.6 lakhs + mods = worth it? I'm not sure.. but solo touring, yes!!

why not buy two bikes? one for each & roll on? just a suggestion.. for rider+pillion - only the kawasaki versys comes to my mind..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

Definitely not a motorcycle for two-up touring, unless you are talking of short weekend rides around your city covering short distances.
Even mods will not mitigate the pillion discomfort

I went for duke 390 with my daily commute for 40kms.
I was looking for something that is light (As i have to face B2B traffic so it should be easy to move around), comfortable and has adequate power( for open stretches).
I was more bent towards Dominar before its launch. But once i took the test drive, the seating position somehow didn't suit me. The front felt heavy. But In my opinion its a great bike. I took multiple test drives from Benelli, Dominar, Mojo but somehow when i sat i duke 390, it just connected.
Yes, duke does heat up but not much i can say. Heat is felt mostly on the heel of your shoes. The brakes are good and tires stick to the ground.
The bike is nimble, light and has more than enough power. The TFT and head light are additional benefit but they should be the main power points while buying.
What i do with the traffic? Simple, i changed my commute timing. A little early to work gives me open roads in which i enjoy my duke.
So what i would like to convey to you is go ahead take test drive of all the bikes that you think can suit you. You will get stuck in traffic no matter whether you are on a duke 390, 250 or any other bike and then make your decision. The thing is how comfortable you feel once you get stuck. Rest of the things are just nitpicking.
          All the best!!

            Hi Guys,
I have just completed 150 kms on my bike. I find the throttle response in the lower rpms (at less than 4k ) slightly irregular and jerky. At higher rpms the response is fine. The vibration is also noticeably higher at lower rpms. Just want to know if other riders also share similar experience. Also what should be the idle rpm of the bike?

it's normal, till 4K you will have vibes, post 4K, its smoother, are you on right gears? don't try to baby the bike & ride like an uncle going to higher gears early & slug the engine.. rev it and open the engine up.. you can go upto 7000 RPM..

vibes will get smoothed out, but will still be noticeable since it's a high compression bike with a big bore like an RE, yeah, lower end vibes are to be there forever.. with services and oil changes, it will smooth out eventually.. the bike engine is new, so it will be rough.. takes time to smooth out the engine..

                  • 3m Paint protection film for duke 390 2017

The showroom guys quoted 3k excluding the rear cowls while including costs 3.7k. I want to know whether the film is useful as in will it retain the bikes glossy shine after applying film or make will film make the bike dull, also is the price reasonable?

Edit:waiting in the showroom to complete registration[emoji7] [emoji7]

for tank till fuel lid I paid around 400 I think the price is still bargainable, be in person when they do it and yes it should retain the shine its just transparent sheet.

Your bike being brand new, does need time to bed in. Make sure, you vary your RPM while you ride, don't hold it steady a set RPM, you can comfortably go till 7k twice to thrice to open the engine up whenever you ride. Vibrations are a part and parcel of the motorcycle, yet will settle down once the periodic services are carried out. Make sure, you make a mention of unduly vibrations duly noted in the job card when you carry out the first service on your motorcycle.

                        Cheers!

                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                          Hi,

Today morning i noticed some water droplets inside the tft screen of my duke. The droplets are there at the corners.
I have not ridden the bike in heavy rain and always keep my bike covered at night.
I have also applied a screen guard on the whole upper side of tft ( including plastic casing).
Is anybody else also facing the issue?

                          Thanks

Yes you might see, tiny dot like water vapor around the perimeter of the dashboard after a heavy rainy ride or prolonged parking. As long as the vapor particles are around the perimeter and doesn't fog up the console completely, it's normal. Parking or riding out when the climate is sunny solves the vapor issue. If you find the water vapor fogging the console completely and visible water dropets inside the console, replacing your console would be the recommended course of action.

                              Cheers!

Does anyone have an idea about how to connect ktm duke 390 to my phone via Bluetooth.
I have a coolpad note 5. But after the whole process my shows me the passkey but my phone doesnt ask for the passkey. Tried going into setting but nothing there as well and after 10-15 second bike shows pairing failed.
I have tried it with 3,4 different mobile but failed.
