Though we're happy with the TFT console getting its update doses periodically, other issues whatsoever still remain the same, to a diverse set. Nonetheless, it's a fun fun machine to have a relationship ship. The newer lots are far far smoother, even more punchier and VFM just can't match any offering from any manufacturer.

    Cheers!

    Thanks !

I completed a 200 kms run today and totally agree with your point. This is one wonderfull machine just suffering from a few quality issues and literally there is no competition for this bike in this segment. If KTM gets these issues fixed they will rule this segment.

If there is a way to let KTM higher officials to know what we are going through it would be really helpful.

IMO it's too early to say that 2018 models don't have any issues. It took 5000-6000kms for even the 2017 models to get these issues. And then the frequency increased. 2018 models might not even have put 6000-7000 kms on ODO barring a few.

While going through my initial posts here when this thread was started by gaurav, I saw a discussion. It was 28.03.2017 at that time.

Today its 24.03.2018, the same issue is still present and even after frequent escalations, it hasnt been sorted out by KTM.

Been a while since I updated this thread. The Duke has run 2500 Kms (excluding a few hundred ones which leaked lol ). I have stopped using the Bluetooth module completely and since then havent faced any issues regarding the clock/odo. Screen blanking I think happened once and I havent seen it happen again.

Other than that, the bike starts at one go, there is a very slight sound coming from near the front number plate or around that area, cant figure out exactly where but its nothing which would bother me.

Was lucky enough to attend 2 Track days at the BIC since I got the bike 7 months ago, full marks to KTM for organizing these events and doing a fantastic job at that.
Yup was super lucky , and what the bike can do amazed me.

The tyres stick like a leech, I was trying to test the bike's limits and even when I leaned it far enough to cross the tyre lean indicator 5, it was still as stable as it was in a straight line. The bike does max out at 163, which is puzzling. I tried it a few times, thats the max it could do on the track.

The way it pulls always manages to surprise me, even with a pillion.

I did manage to get into a huge pothole while doing "KTM type" speeds, and the hit was bad enough to damage the alloys. Dont think any alloy would would have survived the hit though. Thankfully, the bike got me home without any issues.
Claimed insurance and got both the alloys replaced thanks to the 0 depreciation policy.
Also got the software version upgraded to V41.

I havent checked the coolant levels etc but reading about so many experiences, will do that once. Its been close to 7 months now so will also get the bike serviced one of these days.

Did a 600 km day long roundtrip, the bike was quite comfortable and though the wind blast is an issue at high speeds, its nothing which is not expected with the kind of bike it is.

Absolutely lovely bike, super bang for the buck. The Ninja has started giving me dirty looks each time I pass by, .

Hey guys... I got my new duke yesterday and I noticed that the oil inspection window showing very little engine oil. Should I pour in some? I don't know what oil is in there... what little oil is in there looks golden in color. Odo is only 8kms.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. How are you trying to look at the oil level? The bike should be straight on a horizontal surface to check the level and not on the stand. Golden seems right , and they will fill the recommended one so dont worry so much and enjoy the ride.

Yes I'm checking it with the bike standing straight. What oil is it? Like the name of the oil..? I'd rather just go get a can of the oil and pour it in myself.

                      First many congratulations
Second warm up the engine and let it rest for ten minutes then check the oil level by keeping bike straight on a plane surface.

At present its the mineral oil and at first service fully synthetic oil will be poured.

Synthetic oil is used in this bike, not mineral.

                        Ride safe and have fun.

Ok so i took the bike out last night and did 104kms... after returning I let the bike cool down for 15 minutes and then tilted the bike left and right then straight and checked the oil level and it's below the minimum level. The color of the oil is golden. I called up the service centre and they said they use Motul oil which is red in color... Should I just go get a can of Motul 10W50 and pour some in?

I have to leave for my hometown which is about 1200 km one way. Right now my odo is 112km only.

a new bike doesn't come with motul. from the factory it probably comes filled with bajaj's own fully synthetic oil (The dtsi 10000 oil) and this oil is golden in color.
Only during subsequent services is motul 7100 used.
You can safely top up with any oil brand of your choice. Probably might need 100ml or so.. don't add more.

On the other hand since you are doing such a long ride, why not just dump this oil and get an oil change done with the motul 7100.. it is better at heat management and provides good protection.

As far as i know the oil level is always below the minimum mark. I have observed this a lot of times and notified the SVC as well. Haven't encountered any issues as such. Also just see if the highest point of the liquid is touching the minimum mark. that should be fine. Are u getting any low oil pressure warning lights? i used to get it before the software update, but seems like the update has taken care of this issue.

Also, since you're doing this long a ride, i would suggest you ride a few more kms before attempting and change the oil.

All the best for your long ride..

Thank you guys for clarifying it out. I'm not getting any warning messages on the TFT. The bike isn't running hot too. I'll get the bajaj oil and pour in a little bit not more than 100ml while keeping a close eye on the inspection window.
