Re: 2017 Duke 250
I don't know if it's guard but I'm getting that sound while going through potholes and also the squeaking sound is present even without braking. Sorry for my inability to describe the issue accurately.Originally posted by strahl7 View PostIs it? which part of the guard exactly? I can't seem to pin point the thing. It comes up at some RPM's on some gears and some rare times it disappears. Strange.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
This happens because of a relatively loose chain which hits the bottom of the swing arm..Originally posted by strahl7 View PostIs it? which part of the guard exactly? I can't seem to pin point the thing. It comes up at some RPM's on some gears and some rare times it disappears. Strange.
Get the chain tightened as per recommendation.. It should solve your problem.
Regarding the sound appearing in certain rpms it's because the front sprocket causes jerk to the chain in certain rpm and that sprocket jerk causes the chain to hit the swing arm

Thank you. I just wanted to know all the problems before I give it for first servicing. Also, there is so squeaking sound from front forks. Is it because of worn out grease or something?Originally posted by jeshurun99 View PostThis happens because of a relatively loose chain which hits the bottom of the swing arm..

Re: 2017 Duke 250
The squeaking is because of front brake pads rubbing off dirt on the rotar. To solve it simply remove the brake pads and clean them and replace it back in the caliper.Originally posted by DarkKnight78 View PostThank you. I would suggest you to learn how to open clean and replace from the service guys as you can do it yourself. As each time it rains... The sound will come again.. [emoji14]

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Hi guys. . . I also like to buy a bike, but i'm confused. My narrowed down options are bajaj pulsar rs 200 and ktm duke 250. I wanted to go for duke but the service centre is more than 300 km away from our locality. :-( and since there is no service centres around us there will be a problem when the bike breaks down or gives some issues with the engine!!! Needs your opinions. Thanks.

Would not recommend that commute for a service tbh. The Duke is not Unreliable per se, but it has some issues that comes with new batches of bikes. Test ride both the bikes before you make the decision.Originally posted by Moa Among Pongen View PostHi guys. . . I also like to buy a bike, but i'm confused. Re: 2017 Duke 250
Post first service update:
My first service cost me 1600 without chain lube because I had it.
After first service, I noticed that the gear shift which had gotten smooth over time, again became hard due to new synthetic oil. The exhaust note seems a bit more louder and has more grunt. The engine also has less stress at lower rpms (around 3000) and it feels lot smoother now at higher rpms (above 7500). I'm planning on a 1000km ride, if that happens, I'll post the condition of bike after the ride.
Happy riding

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Hello all, today I was at the Mekhri Circle KTM showroom in Bangalore, and was chatting up existing Duke owners. One of the D200 owners told me that servicing there is not great and the mechanics take quite some time to figure things out. Has anyone else had such an experience with KTM service?
I'm pretty sold on the 250 and plan to buy it as soon as the rains die down a bit. I just want to be an informed customer so that I know what to look out for. Thanks!

So far..
Only done about 2800 kms. 2 Stints on the highway and the rest in city.

The chassis was made to change directions. The feedback you get from it is great.
That stress free feel of the engine on the highway. You just don't feel like you are choking the life out of the engine (at sane speeds at least).
Faster you rev, smoother the engine feels.
Still sounds great when on board.

Peg vibes at 4k. Seems like a common complaint at the SVC. Changed the footpegs too. Doesn't help. Chain maintenance seems like the only solution.
Little droplets in the console after parking the bike in the rains.
Good quality sand found on the swing arm after the rains. Splash guard upgrade needed.
In the end, you take the bike out and ride it like it's meant to be ridden (hard), it leaves you with giggling like a child.
