Re: 2017 Duke 250
What? AHO is the best thing thats happened to the Indian motorcycling scene. First, AHO has nothing to do with reduced power or mileage. Its doesn't affect it at all. The amount of times its prevented a cab guy from ramming me justifies it easily. Don't won't affect the reflector, don't worryOriginally posted by snoufaltariq View Post

Re: 2017 Duke 250
I just saw a video and read in a few articles so got scared a lil bit.Let's see.The video's point was it draws power from engine AC power not DC battery stores DC power and then it's transformed as AC.But AHO draws AC power from the engine. The engine is a generator.AHO was mandatory in USA,Canada, and many other European countries beacuse it's foggy there so it was made mandatory. In India guys doesn't even know there is a switch for High beam and low beam. They buy their bikes sitch the high beam and they never turn back.😌Originally posted by chip94 View PostWhat? Re: 2017 Duke 250
Am Sourav, from kolkata
Planning to go for d250
But am concerned about the brakes of 250 as it doesnt have abs. Does combo braking helps to avoid skids at high speed say over 100 kmph Most ppl out here have the d250.... I wud appreciate any comments from your side bros.
Also as i read in this forum, the bike stalling problem due to engine heat while clutching on 2nd gear in traffic or road. Is it a common problem? Cause accident...
What can be done at instance to avoid this issue?
Does the bike need proper idling at first of every morning before riding or any other remedy?
Whats the price of D250 including everything?

You should always use both the brakes, irrespective of what bike you are riding. Skid at 100kmph and you will taste the tarmac for sure. Ride in your limits.

I haven't had this issue. Most cases of stalling are due to incorrect use of clutch in traffic.

Every vehicle should be run at idle for the first start in the morning.
Also, you should take a test ride and decide for yourself whether this bike is for you or not.
If really want ABS, there are options now. Dominar and D390 are there.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
The clutch stall is induced due to lower RPM coupled with fast clutch release. Though it's not of significant concern as such, you'll get used to the motorcycle once you adjust the clutch with proper lever free play. Always use both brakes. Use both of them with 60/40 or 70/30 front weighed in more.Originally posted by presidency View PostAm Sourav, from kolkata

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Get a Duke 390 bro it offers more value for money than Duke 250.If you really like the characters of the duke 250 more then go for it otherwise Duke 390 will be a good choice.Only go for Duke 390 if you have done a lot of kilometers on the saddle and have good experience with quite little powerful motorcycles otherwise duke 250 is more than enough for you.Duke 250 had good characters it's a different kind of KTM.But for the money if you like dominar please get that. It's a fantastic motorcycle.Drive safe and always wear gearOriginally posted by snoufaltariq View PostDude chip94 have a look https://www.rushlane.com/what-is-aho...-12239020.html

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Dominar is mch like a hulk, too mch weight and difficult to manoeuvre in traffic. Otherwise best suited for highway only. Yes it got everything esp the abs at that price tag, but for me still weight is also a concern.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Only while leaning i think it really makes a difference and in slow speeds. If you buy a bike for commute then duke is good.Value for money proposition takes a huge hit in Duke 250.My parents bought me this bike so i couldn't ask for a 390.Duke 250 doesn't feel powerful at all.I think you can wait for Akula 310 which may be a better bet than the 250 Duke if you really like the duke series you are going to shell out a lot.Why not go for a 390.Take a test drive for Dominar and see it matches you.Akula is really catchy i mean as a deal.Speculations are it'll be priced around like Duke 250Originally posted by presidency View PostDominar is mch like a hulk, too mch weight and difficult to manoeuvre in traffic. Re: 2017 Duke 250
Hi Guys ,
This is my first post on this community but have been flowing it for a long time .
After a lot of research I finally bought the KTM Duke 250 on 14th Aug 2017 . The following are the bike I had under consideration :-
1) Dominar - good value for money but vibration is there above 4000 rpm . Plus it's a very heavy bike . Was not too comfortable with the seating position as well .
2) KTM 390 - That was my first choice but it damn heats up like crazy , good for highways but just not drivable in the city ( at least for me ) plus engine was not as smooth as the KTM 250 . One more thing is that I don't think I would be doing above 140 kmph any ways on a naked bike with all the wind blast . Another thing was the headlights were pretty weak for night riding on highways .
3) Yamaha FZ 25 - I really liked the bike but there were two main issues ... It looked very much like a bike next door , didn't have the 6th gear for highway cruise .
Also the bike didn't feel as fun to ride as the KTM 250
4) Mahindra Mojo - Super refined engine, but the front felt really heavy . Was not too impressed with the brakes as well and neither did I have too much confidence on Mahindra service. It's a good highway machine but not for city at all .
Finally the KTM Duke 250 - had probably the smoothest ktm engine ( comparable to the Japs )
Have exceptional handling .
Doesn't heat up as much as the KTM 390.
Good breaks ( miss abs though at a price of around INR 200000) .
Power is more than adequate for both city and highway .
And being a 250 cc has a better tank range than the KTM 390 on highway coz of better fuel economy.
Last but not the least ... Relatively cheap to maintain and a vast service network all over the country.
I must mention that I this is my first bike in over 10 years and all these while I have been driving around only in Cars but have always had the eagerness to get back to biking specially for weekend riding.
I have just done around 300 kms till now only in the city and the following are my observation:-
A) The bike is very easy to ride and the riding position is just perfect , it's neither too upright not too aggressive. ( I am 5'11)
B) There is a bit of buzz in the foot rest around the 4000 rpm mark but I am told that it shall go after the first service.
C) I am getting fuel economy of around 30kmpl as of the but that's only within the city with rpm below 6000 mark
D) Handling of the bike is just superb and it's very easy to navigate through traffic in city conditions .
E) Heating is very less ... Absolutely non KTM like
.
So that's it for now .. shall keep my experience posted .. ride safe
