ya I did testdrive....thats one of the reasons that made me decide on it over the p220...but the other reason was the nagging issues that the pulsars have...but alas..rtr seems to be no better..Originally posted by haxor View PostMan have you test Driven the bike? You will go bonkers after that.make sure you take a bag full of money and throw on them and run away with the bike!

You assumed exact reverse. Setting idling rpms lower than recommended will result in jamming of one way clutch, as when engine comes to life, crank shfaft(driven) will rotate slower than starter(driver) (reverse of the requirement of one way clutch). I dont know abt P220. I have never worked or used pulsar for long. Thats "not my cup of tea"Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostExactly.
And you are right, the CDIs and IDIs are completely different units.
So do you mean to say that setting higher idling rpm will hamper the one-way clutch's operation. If that is the case, then why only RTR 180 faced this problem including the initial batch of P220 DTSi's!!
Bajaj quickly replaced the ignition units with recalibrated ones in order to avoid this issue. The initial batch of P220s did have this issue.
You cannot assume that TVS and BAJAJ run same logic for digital CDI.There's lot to it other than saddle....

Bro i own p220 and rtr 180,i can say that both are wonderful machines in their own way,its fun to ride those machines.luckly i dont have any problems with my 2 bikes..Originally posted by Aravind View Postya I did testdrive....thats one of the reasons that made me decide on it over the p220...but the other reason was the nagging issues that the pulsars have...but alas..rtr seems to be no better..

On the pulsar query the 2009 lot p220 have some niggles with auto choke, one way clutch and some carb issues..All are sorted out in the 2010 batch, please refer the p220 ownership experience thread.
On rtr i have also hiccup problem just after the 3rd service, but i tuned the carb with an experienced mechanic and now i have no problem with the bike

pulsar 220 with cutoff price is the best buy currently in india i only respect a bike on road are p220
cus i have tasted a defeat from it all because i was overconfident on my rtr 180
220 they are the man
but this not means rtr is slow or bad it gives what you need at any time
if you go with rtr you are shur going to face problems
but p220 is also not a problem free bike
idont know about 220 problems
but i can tell you the problems of rtr180
1 after 400km front headlight visor screw will become loos an start makind noice can be fixed by tightn them
2 your hands and foot will get a vibrating massage between 4k to 5k rpm
good for blood circulation
3 after 3k km bike will start giving hiccups
4 milege will drop
5 dont know what is going to happen in future cus i have only completed 3400km
but over all bike give me a smile on my face when i ride it because i am riding my bike which i have choosen and white colour seprate it from trafic
choos you rbike yourself for better satsifactionLast edited by abhishekch; 07-04-2010, 12:18 AM..................................................

None of the bikes are perfect. Even the reliability of BAJAJ had made me decide on the RTR. But the problems that i am facing with this TVS bike doesnt seem to end and combining that with the pathetic TVS svc here, im just agitated. People at the 220F forum have been saying that the post 2010 batches are almost problem free, at least the engine is. So what i would recommend you is that you try to find out how the svc-s of both the companies are in your city and then make your move. In my city at least Bajaj Probiking is much much better the crap TVS svc.Originally posted by Aravind View Postya I did testdrive....thats one of the reasons that made me decide on it over the p220...but the other reason was the nagging issues that the pulsars have...but alas..rtr seems to be no better..

I liked rtr for its revvy nature compared to the p220...also my cousin who owns a p220Fi strongly advised me against buying the p220 because of its frequent problems and the local service..no pbk here.....now rtr problems seem to be an issue....
agree no bike is problem free but visiting the svc/mech every now and then for repair will spoil the experience of owning a bike...
will read through the p220 threads as advised by you to see if I can get some light on the nature of the newer bikes....anyway feels bad to turn down the choice I made(A180) because of the reliability issues

@Aravind..
As you know, Pondy doesn't have PBK and taking it to Chennai everytime doesn't make any sense!
Well, RTR 180 and P220 are two different machines. Prioritize your needs and likes. Decide which one to go for. Take your time, don't be in a hurry.
PS: Ring me at 9659940991 if you want to 'inspect' a seasoned RTR

Power 1 Racing is full synthetic while Power 1 is semi synthetic. I haven tried Power 1 Racing so cant comment on it. But Power 1 really jewels with the RTR180. Makes the engine more free revving and gear shifts become spot on.Originally posted by ameyashogun View PostCastrol Power 1 Racing 4T?
