            Hi guys....!!
Planning to buy apache. But i am confused between the 160 and the 180.I live in cuttack (orissa),and the TVS SC guys and even the salesman are saying that 160 is a better option that the 180.And when i asked them why they said 180 has got some maintenance problems and 160 is a no hassle bike and is low on maintenance..But i think its about how you maintain your bike..Please help me out guys ASAP...!!!

coming to the point,...should I go for any particular engine oil? like motul 20w40...and is there anything that i should be careful of while servicing? what about chain lubrication? I have not touched my bike chain after my 1st service...i.e since 500kms..(assuming that they have lubed my chain in my 1st service!) ...Thanks
guys please say something about the engine oil...

He is bullshittin , dont even think of listening to him. may be he dint reach his 160 sales target figure and crossed the 180s. Reasons can be more silly . i dont know of any extra maintenance cost the 180 needs whch the 160 doesnt

you can consider 160. it is better option it looks like 180 from head to toe. it also features rear disk break .and can give you milege over 50km/l .
it is fast but if you want more faster more quickest go for 180.
but dont expect milege over 45km/l.
i dont think 180 has any maintenance problem
they are selling 160 from past four years and from feedback they are saying this.

RTR 180 is better from overall VFM point of view!!

Still if you are on a tight budget and cant sacrifice (-)5 kmpl then it has to be the 160. I would say wait till Sept-End.Newer RTR versions are rumoured to make their way into showrooms.

i get mine from sk tvs tilak nagar for 70200 ,price of my rtr 180 was 73000 on road that time means 6 months ago. they have given me rupees 1800 off cus 20 aniversary of their showroom that month. and thanks to my father he is a superbargainer he ask to give only 70000 and the deal fix in 70200 we save 1000 rupees.

and out side showroom standing mine brand new sparkling pearl white rtr 180.
cus that was my first bike i was very scared to ride it . i dont even taken a test ride before purchasing. so i ask the showroom guy to drop bike to my home and he send a mecanic with me to my home. and the time i first time when i sit on seat give a self engage first gear and leave the clutch cant tell you that fealing. its handling is just awesome.

                        Hi All,

Thanks a lot for the replies.

The price includes everything including VAT and other taxes, insurance, helmet and accessories and handling charges. The breakup is something like this

                        BASIC - 60400
                        VAT - 8000
                        Exshowroom = 68400 (basic+VAT)
Registration or something like that = 5500
Smart card (we get cards as registration papers) - 300
                        Helmet + accessories - 550+450
                        Handling - 300
                        Insurance - 1500

Total = 76500 (approx from what I can recall)

The show room guy told me that road tax has increased by 2000rupees or so in since April. He said it was 73K ish before April.

And the showroom is TVS, Khanpur. Thinking about calling all the showroom and conforming the price.

And lastly, I'm planning to get white colour. Is it a scratch magnet? or it doesn't matter which colour, scratches don't pick and choose

The prices seem to have risen considerably this year.I checked the latest quotation here at Noida while I visited the showroom this afternoon for some insurance work. The prices have gone up by whopping 6k!! The ex-showroom price is now 69990/-INR compared to last year's 64K!..Amazing!

To other RTR owners..How much do you pay for the renewed insurance cover? ..I got it done for 1440/-..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

                            • I also paid 1286 in march which included 3rd party coverage for my RTR 160 (2009). I consulted with my dealer he said that all insurance companies has hiked the premium by 200Rs

                              • I did a comparison of the RTR 160, Fi, 180 and I found the sound of the Fi the best. The 160 was second and then the 180. Is there something different about the exhaust system from these 3 bikes? I really want the Fi's sound on my 180
