even i face same problem as leighton, i have done some 2500km...while hard braking...when i try to shift d gears rapidly..it isn't that smooth at times i get stuck in higher gears nd it refuses 2 getdown..nd d major prob is d rear tyre..iam nt happy wid its performance at all...i am thinking to replace d rear tyre by r15 rear tyre....
i heard, read rtr vibrates a lot at 55-65km, but i dont feel it, as much as it is been said.... acceleration, stability at high speeds are very gud....

the gear probs also comes wid mi friends 180 RTR...nd the rear tyre dont say about it god the TVS tires really sux...if u take out the bike in rainy day then u can see the real color of the tyre ...

vibration is the signature of apache RTRs..if ur not able to get then go ride any other bike you will come to know the vibration ..

once i took my frnds bike to achieve the top speed i did a drag nd when i came back stopped the bike and started pressing the buttons on the console of RTR 180 i wasn't able to do it...cos of vibrations
was glad to see that i marked 129Kmh

The timing chain can be the culprit but also do check the tappet clearance as their noise will get more prominant when ridden slowly but at higher speeds they are eclipsed by the wind noise.

                  • Presenting TVS's new Slick Tyres!!

This is the condition of the rear tyre after 16500 kms.The handling has gone for a toss and even while riding under straight line the rear feels wallowy and you just cant corner smoothly even at sane speeds. At every point of time, the bike needs corrective riding techniques to counter the resistance from the rear tyre. Even the front tyre has lost more than 50% of it's life.

Will be switching to 110 spec Zapper in couple of days.

PS: Even with this condition, the tyres doesnt SKID at all for both of us(me and my brother)!!

RTR's discs are prone to accumulate dirt/dust inside them. The screeching noise is the reason for it. Cleaning the brakes under high pressure water should solve it.

                            • Motorcycle Ownership Experience

Got my RTR180 5 days back...On 25th august...got a call from the showroom that the bike will be delivered today......I jumped with excitement.I had already informed the showroom guy that I will myself go to the Tvs godown & bring it from there.I stay in Dombivli & the godown was in bhiwandi which was 30kms away from the place where I stay.Called my friend so that he can tag along with me on my old bike.At about 1pm we departed for bhiwandi. The roads were filled with potholes...after 1 hour we reached there by asking address to people living in nearby areas. The godown was closed. After sometime, the man who was in charge of the godown came & opened it&&& Whoa...there were a couple of scooty pep's,star city's,rtr160's &rtr180s...I think there were a total of 10-15 rtr180's.In the mean time the riders ffrom where I purchased the bike arrived to recieve other bikes. The godown man picked one fresh white RTR180 & gave it a wash.Everything was ok uptill here but when they brought it outside in broad daylight, the riders did a pdi & they found a long scratch on the muffler and the gearbox had a dent.So they told the godown man to replace the bike with other one there itself. This time I choosed the bike.Inspection was done and then they washed the bike & brought out.Everything was fine. Finally the bike was filled with petrol and battery terminals connected. In 2-3 kicks the bike started roaring to life(typical RTR sound note). So completed the formalities and we started for our return journey. While returning there five more new bikes with us which were to be delivered at the showroom,3 twisters& 2 Dazzlers.Got a test ride of them too.It was a great feeling to ride a new bike ,freshly picked out from godown.
Bike has logged 147kms & no thud sound in potholes & all other problems. I think the problems are verified in new batch as Renny told.
                              Anyway Enjoy Guys HAPPY RTRing..
Here are some pics of my bike.

Yes screeching sound will disappear once the disk pads are cleaned under high water pressure & will again start once you ride it in the rain
