Have you cleaned the plug before tuning your bike??
Cuz what you got is a mixed reading, and outta it 98% is from the prior setting.

The pic is really bad, cant see any of the main details.

Sorry if it sounds stupid but I want to get it cleared. Is it same in all bikes or the SVC guys mistakenly put another bike's filter also with mine.
And, does it always remain wet with some petrol/diesel?
You can clean the filter by petrol/diesel/and soap solution.

I clean my filter using surf/tide/ariel.
Make sure you dry it good 1 hour in the sun before putting it back on the bike after soap washing it.

Oil it only if you're not into cleaning your filter every 800-1000kms.

        Ni, I didn't

Should I do it now to get a hint about whats happening in the engine after tuning?

And, can you please elaborate the "mixed reading" thing?

        • what the heck TVS cant make a decently working fuel indicator

I filled it up with 6-7 litres of petrol above reserve level. it has been 150 odd kms since then. the fuel-I was indicating 6-7 bars till it dropped to 3 which remained for a couple of days till yesterday. today its showing again 7 bars.. i dont know why TVS even gives the fuel indicators

Similar problem is in victor. till reserve level (2.75Lt) it will have its needle at E. I started using reserve as a refuelling indicator and i guess will have to do the same in RTR also

          • Hi guys,

first of all Merry Christmas to everyone.

why is that whenever the pulsar guys see an apache they will race with it?
and especially with the white RTRs. while i was coming back from office a dude with his black pulsar( and having a pillion) was going steady. As i went past him he accelerated a little and then went ahead of me. I was driving slowly around 60-65 and went ahead of him at the cross section bcoz he got stuck behind a car. A few seconds later it was a full blown race on a narrow road without a divider. i was easily ahead of him but he remained just a little bit behind. (his was a black pulsar 180 or 150 dont know).

It was around 8 pm and because of incoming traffic i had to open my helmets visor(to get a better view of the road) and my eyes stated watering heavily(maybe beacuse i wear permanent glasses). well managed to stay ahead most of the time( i was without a pillion+ my white angel made it super easy). he was doing the sepentine zigzag driving . personally i have never raced against an RTR and have never seen an RTR owner do this zip zag driving....maybe because of the TVS Tyres

overall the race ended with me slowing down near my home..he was ahead at that time.. i was also scared to drive fast bcoz i kept remembering my accident 2 months back and the 1 month it took me to heal and bike damages.reached home safely.

              Lolz.
Same here. I never worried abt that thing in dad's victor, my rtr and mom's scooty as well.
If it shows something, i consider there is go go juice in my tank.

ooh yeah these pulsar guys think they can beat RTR

those pieces of junk have such pitty throttles, you feel like riding a 1 minute lag bike.. the same way it happens on internet voice chats :P

the above said statement was not for P220, which is a wonderful bike with an age of 50000 kms or 2 years whichever happens earlier :P

                • Ive completed the free servicings and i got my last 2 servicing done by my mechanic.

Does anyone know how to reset the service interval indicator....or is it something that only the TVS service folks would do.

Reading from the first setting and reading after the tuneup you did.

Mine is Kaput from 3 weeks, showing permanently 5 bars.

                      • petrol gauge

The problem with most guages showing wrong readings is not because of the gauge ,but because of the petrol. The petrol we put into our tank consists of Petrol and also Water. This later element reacts with the nichrome resistance wire inside the tank and develops loose contact. The float and sensor for the gauge sits inside the tank and in petrol..so only about 1.5 to 2 volts are allowed across the variable resistor, which is the sensing voltage,...to avoid any spark occuring. The current through the resistor is also restricted to minimal value for this reason.....hence all the muck and water in the petrol makes the gauge develop loose contact, and erroneous readings.
Try adding 2ml of 2t per liter of petrol into the tank.In the LONG RUN this will prevent corrosion of the sensor, and also helps in lubricating the upper cylinder and valve stems.

Ha ha... I was gonna lambast you for that first two statements but then saw the third line.

But then I've never ridden the newer batch of Pulsar 180s or 150s, mine happens to be a P220 and a recently sold classic P180. Currently, I left my steed back in Bangalore to come to my hometown where the RTR 180 has been my replacement steed for a week already. I'm desperately missing my P220 but the RTR 180 makes a good alternative. And I really want to transfer the RTR's brakes to the P220, they are really good.

And yes, the fuel gauge had me hoodwinked the first time. I filled the bike almost to the brim and the next day the fuel gauge showed two bars less than full. I was going WTF!!!! And the bike has a lingering smell of petrol emanating from it. It just crossed 3K on the odometer yesterday.

LOL! That was understood even for an illiterate from your statement bro

By elaborating it, i meant to ask you for what those mixed readings (means, if you can make out which one was better... errr.. if its possible to) and what those two mixed readings could be... like... running lean at one time and then optimal... or rich... or... I think you understood what I'm trying to say
