The float and sensor for the gauge sits inside the tank and in petrol..so only about 1.5 to 2 volts are allowed across the variable resistor, which is the sensing voltage,...to avoid any spark occuring. The current through the resistor is also restricted to minimal value for this reason.....hence all the muck and water in the petrol makes the gauge develop loose contact, and erroneous readings.
Try adding 2ml of 2t per liter of petrol into the tank.In the LONG RUN this will prevent corrosion of the sensor, and also helps in lubricating the upper cylinder and valve stems.
PSR, that is pretty nicely put up. Will surely do that.. thanks mate

But then I've never ridden the newer batch of Pulsar 180s or 150s, mine happens to be a P220 and a recently sold classic P180. Currently, I left my steed back in Bangalore to come to my hometown where the RTR 180 has been my replacement steed for a week already. I'm desperately missing my P220 but the RTR 180 makes a good alternative. And I really want to transfer the RTR's brakes to the P220, they are really good.

And yes, the fuel gauge had me hoodwinked the first time. I filled the bike almost to the brim and the next day the fuel gauge showed two bars less than full. I was going WTF!!!! And the bike has a lingering smell of petrol emanating from it. It just crossed 3K on the odometer yesterday.
my line for P220 was sheer sarcasm nothing else.. I just love that bike, i have ridden about 200 odd kms on P220, but that was a friend's bike with k&n, mask removed and replaced with FZ mask (a pure indian naked)

However, when i was buying 1 for me, i didnt even considered P180. Only 2 options were P220 and RTR 180. Just for the sake i took a test drive of P180 and yes there is definitely a lag. A lag in the way it responses to you. Also my skepticism to build quality made me not buy P220, which was a heart break initially.

As far as fuel gauge reading is considered, the best way solution is to fill above reserve and if not, then subject your bike to to and fro motion to check if there is any fuel rather than depending on that meter

that is what i do...when i stop hearing fuel splashing here and there in tank i know its time to get refilled. but the when the fuel indicator is full ,oddly it feels very self satisfying.

Also guys do any of you do the zig zag driving on stock TVS tyres(on dry road )??? i think it helps to navigate through traffic more easily.

Castrol makes a 2t called POWER TT which contains PIB.this particular additive prevents petrol from fragmenting and controls the spray droplets to uniform size. This helps in preventing pre ignition and also homogenized combustion. This was used extensively in avaition fuel to prevent petrol tank burst when hit by artillery, during WW 2.
This property also makes the engine run smoother, and i had been using it in both my KB100 and Petrol Lancer.Any 2T oil meeting or surpassing the JASO smoke test FC level will mostly contain PIB
I had not used the oils mentioned by you so cannot comment.

yes i am doing it.. the reason of zigzagging though is its superior handling, nimble control and great response

However there is a disappointment. TVS victor is a great handler among the 110 cc bikes of its time. its road grip is amazing, and i remember scratching my foot pegs a number of times on the corners. however RTR disappoints. As soon as i have cornered just enough, the tyres tend to give that negative feedback which means i have to stop tilting it further. This, was not expected

Yes the Power 1 2T will sufice since it meets the JASO FC standard, which is for low ash content.
PIB is added for getting this rating.

Well got to say that my RTR is giving me an avg of anything from 42kms to 52kms driven on bombay highways and revved a few times driving between 50kms to 70kms on normal usage.Love the way the bike makes u feel even with the front suspension not so gr8 which gives a thud sound on a pothole even at low speeds of 30kms and even worse are the Tires they slip on wet roads and the Fuel guage is erratic and my top speed shows as 160kms and 0to60 shows as 2.25sec still i can say no bike can ever give u the feel and the pleasure of driving like RTR.......
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person u are.......

same feelings. Average not yet calculated.

I noticed 1 thing today. i got off my bike, and revved it to 5-6k RPM. at specifically 5k rpm, the visor of the bike was making an irritating sound, specifically from the left hand side. it was like when a vibrating thing touches something stationary. I am aware of the slight vibs, but specifically from 1 area of the visor didnt made sense.. any of you noticed the same?

Yup the mileage should be pretty high when you ride below 4-5k rpm.
I get between 35-40 kpl and I'm rarely below 4k

The thud sound is due to the suspension piston. Its a common problem in all TVS bikes but it can be rectified. Refer to one of my posts previously, when the pressure in the piston gets disturbed it throws such sound i faced the same but got it rectified, as it grew like anything and even on slightest jerk it started giving tak-tak sound.

Also guys this is for all those who are getting screaming sound from front or rear disc pads, well we all know when we get the disc pads installed they are a bit tight and this is a general excuse that SVC guys give us that as and when they will get rubbed things will settle down..........CRAP its all CRAP what they say........i have rectified the sound, just go to any local mechanic, ask to open the disc assembly now if u see on the back side of PAD there will be kind of two cylinders.
THe reason why we get that chiiiiii-chiiiiiiiiiiii sound is that when u apply breaks then those two (i should call not exactly cylinders rather but sort of) they expand but if they dont retain theri position on releasing the brakes, the disc gets started rubbing against them.
Just add 1-2 drops of oil,,,yes i am saying OIL...all they say ki "ismein oil nahi daalte hain".........crap its my personnal experience, apply few drops then press and release the brakes for couple of times.
Do this for sometimes so that those two will get lubricated properly.
Tighten up the brakes assembly and check........it did wonders for me,brakes are running smooth without any crunching sound ......
