But the kind of punch that this machine gives u is totally unbeatable upto 200CC segment.

Wowo....i was just wondering i just had a fight with a R15 rider, i was just wondering no matter if it is a liquid cooled then also engine size does matters. I mean 150 and 180 makes a difference, i beated it in pickup as it was a city race, but just wanted to know opinions ........guys what u think abt this

Given the same CC and HP a LC engine will any day beat an air cooled engine . ICE is all about engine heat.A LC engine will be able to maintain the bore and piston at a lower temperature than an air cooled one, even when high RPM is maintained constantly. Heat is essential for the engines to perform at optimum efficiency. But increase above 85 to 90 degrees will lead to accelerated bore to piston, friction and wear out. Thus LC is superior to an air cooled engine.

      • Review of the RTR 180!

Hi, I'm yet to join the group of menacers! I bought my White Angel on 16th December 2010.

        The buying Experience:

Actually I am more inclined towards buying a R15 but for my posture(i'm 58kg in weight and 5'8'' tall) I decided to buy the beast RTR which is my personal favourite and heard it rocks on Indian roads. The RTR perfectly suits me.

Anyways..me and my brother went to the Susheel TVS showroom, Hyderabad on 16th December and I decided to take the white despite my brother saying to me "It's hard to maintain the color...blah blah blah" but I lent him a deaf ear and paid the net cash Rs.79,893/-. A very good senior mechanic attended my bike and it was all good.Trust me...adrenaline was rushing through my body as soon as I started the bike.I took the bike directly to my home and in the evening puja was done and the bike stayed at home for 2 days idle.(My bro told me to do so as I will get it dirty soon!). So finally it was on Sunday, after a long wait that I get to drive the beauty...me and my frens rode throughout the city dat day.

        The riding experience:

Alright, the favourite part of all...I dont need to lean much on the bike as I am 5'8'' and the riding posture was very good that I can handle the bike through twists. It's really really really hard to go below 60kmph till the first service..lol. Revved her barely 5-6 times going upto 75kmph. As im commuting as of now..office-home-office(40kms) I prefer to stay as distant as possible from the office..so that I can njoy the ride on my beauty. The office is pretty far away from home and I really like this because I get a chance to ride her for a pretty long time.

I have not found any of the problems that were mentioned by other menacers in my angel...coz shez an angel

        Pros:

        1.No vibes at all!!!!!(Tested upto 6500rpm)
2.No skidding problem!(well, every bike skids on loose or wet gravel)
3.No speedo problem or tacho problem..everything works just fine
4.No tappet noise or engine noise even when hot! till now...
5.No kickstarting or cold starting problems in the morning. It's winter!!(9 degrees centigrade)
6.No handle problems just perfect riding posture.
7.No "thud" sounds whatsoever from the front or rear shocks..even when going through pothholes
8.TVS tru4 works perfectly..no false gearing or gear slipping!!! and the gearbox is smooth lyk ice-cream!. As someone in this thread said "Shift the gears at the correct RPM" thats all needs to be done and the gearbox works like a charm!!

Overall...there is no problem at all with my sweet little angel..she's so perfect...

        That's it for now...
Let's see if anything happens in the future...will keep you updated..bye

Oh yeah..and uh pics coming soooon!!!

          • Installing a HID

            Hi guys,
last weekend i saw a guy getting HID installed in his pulser. Well i am curious about that because RTR180 headlight sucks. I asked the mechanic, he sadi that the connection is made directly to the battery. I asked him whether it damages the wiring but he said it goes to battery and it has its own regulator so there is nothing to panic about. I also inquired at one of the good shops, the ProBiker in MG Road pune, well he said that they are giving warrentee if i am getting installed from their shop. Unfortunately they are charging Rs400 for installation
which comes out to be 1400 + 400 = 1800 where as the same HID that local mechanic is installing for just 100..........

            Need suggestions guys

RTR has one of the best OEM headlights of the lot. To say it 'sucks' is in bad taste..

Now, regarding HID installation - there are few unknows here. Was the Pulsar UG4? They are full DC, so HIDs are just plug and play. What type was the HID? It is a bixenon type? Or just the normal one?

HIDs run off DC. So if you do not convert your RTR (which is AC/DC) to full DC, you will need to have a separate switch to control the HID.

There is a dedicated thread for RTR DC conversion...

There are other threads too which covers topics on HID installation, conversion to full DC etc... Look them up.

              • Guys.. Just asking out of curiosity.

Everybody here talks a lot about the ridiculous TVS tyres. (As far as my experience goes, never skidded as never rode an RTR in rains..)
So, which tyre is the problem child..? The front or the rear..? When do they skid..? While cornering or while stopping..? How bad are they..? I mean, is it like, they cant be used at all or that they are OK for commuters..? (Or normal/sane riding)..?

                • Ok for commuters as long as the bike is upright, should never brake hard rear brakes it skids as far as my experience

                  • Front brake problem

Guys got the front brake pads changed at 18k from SVC but after the change the front brakes have lost it bite. To stop the bike by front brakes only i have to press the brake lever very hard which was not the case with the earlier ones.
Earlier with the slight push of two fingers i can stop the bike but now have to press hard with three and still bike dont come to complete halt.
Was there any faulty installation or how can i get it rectified?

                    Guys need help here.

Yup the mileage should be pretty high when you ride below 4-5k rpm.
I get between 35-40 kpl and I'm rarely below 4k

congos dude.. mine is a week elder to urs however there are vibs, and yes i agree are very less.. you MAY find some in ur headlamp visor and of course on footpegs. To check the visor vibs, try revving in neutral. Do let me know if you dont find them, which i hope

Agreed! Also, headlights of RTR are not very much dependent on the engine RPM. I mean the brightness doesnt fluctuates as much as you see in other AC powered bikes

Just wait for a year, that will start.... :P
All bikes which have their lighting powered by ac from the stator will face this issue. Only a steady AC supply, or a DC supply can provide constant lighting... (atleast AFAIK)

                        • Hey guys,

I just wanted to know if it is OK to keep the fuel knob to RES even if there is some petrol above the reserve mark?
The fuel indicator is bad, and even when it shows two bars, the bike is actually in reserve sometimes. So it gets really annoying when i have to shift in the middle of a busy street.

                          Thank you
                          Cheers

Better to use your reserve knob as a "FILL IT" indicator. I think left out of fuel in the middle of street will be more humiliating

Same question. Can someone put out some good words of advice for K&n, upjetting and yes, free flow exhaust. Pros, cons, etc..
