  • Omitting to mention oil change is one thing, but writing that you did not change oil is something else. In case later on you land into some trouble with engine, it could affect the availing of warranty. Some SVC are hard assess and dont allow to use any other oil, but give them hell, talk to SVC manager, drop a mail to TVS etc. Do anything, but make them record the oil change at the mentioned services.
But if you are like me and willing to take the risk, dont bother.

          • I got my RTR 180 on 7th of Feb and have done the first service at 637 km on 21st Feb. Till the first servicing the bike gave a mileage of 44kmpl. Browsing through the forum I have seen opinions on a number of engine oils to be used for better performance. But I am not able to decide on one. Please can you help me out on the engine oil. I have expressed the same concern to the SVC guy but he insisted on TVS tru4 oil only. Riding is confined to the City limits only and once in a month take it out for touring. My second concern is regarding the tyres. The tyres skid a lot on wet and unfinished surfaces and even on tarmac the level of confidence while applying brakes is not 100%. So, any suggestion for the tyres will also be welcome whether I should persist with the stock tyre or go for some good ones in the market. Till now, the bike has clocked around 1200KM on the speedo. I am very much happy with the performance of the bike except the issue of the tyres. As far as the vibrations issues are concerned that doesn't bother me at all as far as I feel comfortable and safe even while cruising at high speeds. I have test rode pulsar and fz as well and have to admit the vibrartions are negligible in those bikes but the feel i get on my rtr is heavenly. Please guys, please help me out on the two following two issues -

            1. Engine oil to be used for the next servicings.
            2. Suggestion for tyres whether I should stick with the stock ones or look out for the better ones.

            Thanks in advance.

better stick to stock oil for atleast 4 to 5k later u can use synthetic or semi-synthetic oil.
i would suggest u to move on to better sticky tyres for both back and front .

I wouldnt recommend changing the tyres so early. But if you cant live with it then you have the option of MRF Zapper(from the Honda Dazzler) for the rear and Zapper FS(from the P220) for the front.

Ujjwal, get Castrol Activ 20w40 in your next service. its priced almost the same as TVS Tru4 but is way better. I got it changed to Castrol in the 1st service itself. I did notice a lot of changes in my bike and smoother gear shifts was the striking difference. But make sure the SVC records your oil change or else your warranty will be void !
It's always better to lose a second in life than to lose life in a second!

                              • Guys, after the accident the bike has now been fixed to its original shape.

Total expenses were for around 4k bucks..I need a little bit of help from you guys.I think the authorized dealer here has over-quoted most of the things that were replaced. The reason being I have been given a hand-made bill and not computer generated.I am listing all of the parts that were replaced with the cost of each one of them.If you guys can, then please confirm it for me..Here are particulars as per the bill :

                                Headlamp Stay-Rs.372
Leg Guard-Rs.382 (seems the price is genuine)
                                Handlebar weight(only for the RHS)-Rs.205!
                                Housing-Rs.666
                                Silencer cover/plate-Rs.315
                                Indicator (FR)-Rs.165..
Brake pedal-Rs.350 I remember R15's brake pedal costs about 150 bucks only.I'd be amazed if this is the true price for RTR's pedal..
                                Head Light-Rs.1080
                                Front brake lever-Rs.231..

I would like to know the genuine prices of these 'genuine' products at your place,if they match with these it's well and good.If not, nonetheless, will help me sue the dealer for sure..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!
