I wish i was as lucky as you. Even i agree that RTR's build quality is better than Pulsars but currently its the RTR which seems to be laden with problems more, and really a lot more than the Pulsars.

If you have the time and energy to visit the svc again and again and keep at them to solve every problem you face, then i dont think there is any reason why you shouldnt buy the better performer of the two.
You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

I told the attitude of the svc guys to the salesman who sold me the bike and told him strictly that i would be forced to sell the bike if this continues. He gave the address of another svc and asked me to take the bike the next morning which was today. So i took the bike today morning and this time also i was asked to keep my bike and take delivery in the evening.

I decided not to visit the TVS svc again for servicing even if i had to pay extra money for the service from outside. Instead i contacted an xbhp member and took an address of a castrol bike zone svc. I was pretty pleased with the servicing. The guy there told me that my bike's clutch plate has worn out and i need to replace them to have better pickup and decrease in vibration. Im giving second thoughts to it. The brakes have lost bite. The disc pads still have quite a bit left and even after proper bleeding i didnt find the brakes to be as razor sharp as they used to be before. The hiccup problem at 3k rpm has also come back. Im cursing myself more and more everyday for buying this bike.
i think its same everywhere that you have to give the bike in the morning and take the delivery in the evening..when i gave my bike for free servicing i got it back in the evening..last week

I have already told some problems of my bike...I am not able to enjoy my ride bcoz of gear shifting problems i have in my bike..and i was wondering why people yell at me when i ride and it was when i ride in the turns...they used to shout at me to flash indicators properly though i was flashing indicators properly..it happened thrice....today when i was cleaning my bike i switched my right indicator on and guess what! the front right indicator flashes and the rear left indicator flashes! and vice versa! I dont know how to fix this problem. !

if you switch on right indicator, and rear left lights up, solution is simple. just intechange connections of rear indicators.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

Apart from the faulty speedo, there's nothing wrong in the parts department of RTR.

Blip the throttle before downshifting(matching the revs), and you'll have butter smooth shifts.

The hiccups problem can be sorted out by tuning of the carb properly, other than that what are the probs that's backing you off????

            @theguitarfreak;

            How much kms logged??

            @nox2505:

What could be the possible reason for the hiccups here??
the slow jet or may be the wrongly set float???

I think thats just one of the rare cases. If only one or two of our RTRs had problems we wouldnt have been complaining.

Blip the throttle before downshifting(matching the revs), and you'll have butter smooth shifts.

Doesnt blipping the throttle consume more fuel? Because you are using the throttle more. I dont know. Just asking.

Not exactly. Chicane and a few other members here told me that they get their bike in an hour or two of giving it to the svc until and unless there is a major problem. Why should we even keep it for a day? The uncle-jees dont have a problem in keeping their bike for one or two days at the svc. But the same thing cant be expected from a bike enthusiast.

How will throttle-blipping smoothen the gear shifts? Blipping the throttle will ensure that your engine speed matches the road speed as close as possible. This helps,

                  1. Resist rear wheel lockups.
                  2. Keeps you bikes flow smooth. You will appreciate this if you downshift when cornering. If you dont blip your throttle, you will feel your bike's balance is upset.

Are you disengaging the clutch completely when shifting? Try to roll off the throttle completely when shifting. Also check the clutch lever play.

Actually speaking it doesnt take more than a couple of hours to service the RTR. Heck even the Ninja's first service took less than 3 hours. The reason they tell you it will take a day is, probably they have a bunch of bikes. They dont really care if you are bike enthusiast or an uncle ji.
I dont like the company authorized service centers. It seems to me that they are always trying to peddle spares. Also, I dont care much for the attitude they show.
Try out a few non-authorized service centers like Castrol Bike Zone, if you are out of your warranty period. But dont expect magic.

                      1. Gearbox and Clutch- The victor gearbox is butter smooth. It shifts when you want and how you want. I have never got false neutral or had to blip for shifting. With RTR, no gear change is smooth. All shifts i feel are with two steps and downshifting demands the blipping. Crank case they use is of aluminium alloy. i appreciate that. But the thread depth all round is shorter than required. 2 bolts of RTR oil filter came out with thread, which never happened with victor.
                      2. Electricals- Switches on my Victor are functionally as good as new. I have never opened them to clean the electrical point for cause of improper contact. I have opened switches of RTR twice for same reason. Wires on victor are still perfectly conductive.
                      3. Headlamp- For victor, the beam throw is just perfect. With RTR, spread is gr8 but intensity is poor.
Coming to paint quality, Panels and tank are new. but my old tank, which is lying there in back yard under sunlight and rain, merely have any rust spots. RTR do not have any rusting yet.
                      4. Chassis welding.- If i open victor, i never see any weld spatter. But with RTR, its near all welds under tank and seat.
                      5. Speedo console- Victor one is still performing perfectly, while RTR is runing 3rd.

Between victor and RTR, though i use RTR on 85% riding, still i "TRUST" 7.5 year old victor more than 1.5 year old RTR.
Agree with you completely. The RTRs are nowhere as good as the initial bikes TVS produced(Read:Victor).

And no, i didnt go for the RTR because of the mumbo-jumbo marketing gimmicks of Racing DNA Unleashed and the Racing monicker. It was the brilliance of Victor which gave me more than what i wanted(and it still does that too) made me buy the RTR.8 years on and still going strong. The headlight beam is even much better than the RTR. And there is not a single rubber damper on the fins of the engine normally found on the present day 4-stroke bikes and still it is awesomely refined.

And i feel safe to carry much faster speeds while cornering on Victor than the RTR!!

If 'performance' is your top priority then it has to be the RTR 180 but if you are looking for a decently-powerful-refined bike then go for P180. And about the problems, the real major problems(one-way clutch, crankshaft) has been reported so far only on couple of bikes out here in xBhp.There are niggling issues with the bike but that can be taken careof unless you are extremely unlucky to get a lemon.

If there is more rush, then the work might get extended till evening. The only concern is keeping bikes meant for free services for a day or two, which definitely shows the careless attitude of the service centre and their inability to service the bikes.I can only imagine the quality of work they carry out from here.

Yes they did ride my bike and concluded about the clutch plate. Earlier the bike used to be smooth after 5k. But not now. The vibes are there across the full rev range right from 4k.

thats quite a high rate to repair a puncture . you can buy the whole repait kit for 230 RS that can fix 10 punctures.
