Why does the TVS service manual state in the 'Instruction to the servicing dealer' (behind the service coupon) that, "Inspect and TOP-UP brake fluid"..??Originally posted by kantu View PostThat is not normal. DOT 3 liquids last a lifetime
The instruction is given to all services with a gap of 2500km. This shows that the levels of brake fluid tends to drop. (May be with respect to the DOT3 or DOT4 used by TVS).This is what I have observed. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi All,
My RTR 180 ABS is due for Fourth service by next week.
I have experienced a 25-30% mileage drop in the last few months.
My riding habits and fuel station has not changed. Also I do maintain proper Tyre pressure.
Only difference is that I am forced to keep my bike in open sun during day time(I don't have a choice
)
My doubt is will it cause this much of a mileage difference
Also one more thing I noticed is that while riding on straight roads, If I take off both hands, Bike slowly moves towards left side. I remember reading somewhere that this is due to some misalignment. But don't remember exactly what the problem was
Can anyone help me identifying the issue?
Also would this also be affecting mileage?"Safety doesn't happen by accident"
"Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle"
Regards,
Muhammed Saleem P

Thanks bro. I would definitely go for semi-sythetic frm now on.. Also, will it help if I change oil earlier than u've mentioned? in terms of performance?Originally posted by Rtrlover83 View Post@vrags
I'll share my opinion on points 3 & 5.
3. Since you've clocked enough kms,(7000 IMO for starting a semi-synth) go for Motul 5100 4T 10w40. It's perfect for our ride. Will cost you around 495INR. Will easily hold till around 4500km.
5. You could try Yamaha YZF-R15 V1.0's tires. Grip levels would be awesome as some users here say. But ride quality might get compromised because of the low profile as Drifty said. Also, tire life would be shorter.Dont defeat your enemy.. destroy him. offer hope then crush it..fuel his ego then break it.. finally. deploy ABS..execute the curve..victims defeat assured.. victims confidence destroyed...!!! Also, i would change my tyres after i run another 3-4k, since its only 11k on srichakra. I think it shouldnt be a problem before rainy season hits the town.Originally posted by Rtrlover83 View Post@vrags

Guys, i too had the similar issue with one of my friend. The best remedy is to remove the ABS cable from the clamp on swing-arm and tie it with a plastic strip close to the caliber. I can post a pic of my assembly soon so that you all can have it done. My brakes are doing good as of now and haven't noticed the issue so far.Dont defeat your enemy.. destroy him. offer hope then crush it..fuel his ego then break it.. finally. deploy ABS..execute the curve..victims defeat assured.. victims confidence destroyed...!!! No problem. It would be even better. Be sure to replace the filter too.Originally posted by vrags View PostThanks bro. I would definitely go for semi-sythetic frm now on.. The oil filter be replaced Only at the time when changing the engine oil. Would cost you around 35INR. So there, it's easy on your walletOriginally posted by vrags View PostFilter? should i change it now itself or with oil? any recommendations?
One tip. Keep the engine to idle for at-least 30-60secs before you take off, especially on mornings when engine is cold and oil is all settled down at the bottom. This idling will ensure oil circulation through out the engine interns. Also, be easy on the throttle for a while after take off. These small steps would do much good for your RTR's engine in the long run.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Yes, before an oil change such a ride would make the oil hot and would drain out quicker. The person who do the job (oil change) should be very careful though.Last edited by Rtrlover83; 06-02-2012, 12:11 PM.The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't.
