  • After clicking 41k kms on my ride, i am on third set of rear tyre and second on Front.

Used TVS, IRC and now on MRF Zapper C.

IRC lasted for just 16k kms, blame it to my high speed rides to home
I think still it can be used till 20K kms. Experience was good with IRC.

Now lets see how MRF perform.

      • Hey guy's
Went to my oil dealer's place yesterday. Went to buy Shell Advance AX5 for my uncles bike. The dealer was struggling to get Motul products lately, but he has everything now (all oils and chain clean/lube) Saw Motul's 3100 4T (Technosynthese) which is priced closed to 400INR. 7100 4T 10W40 is in stock too for the first time. But me sticking to Advance Ultra

I was in need of another TPS. Inquired the 2 SVC's and they said nope, don't have'm. But one SVC said they would order it for me. So i called today to confirm whether they've placed the order. To my surprise, they said there is one in stock, so come quickly Went there at noon. This TPS is from the 09 2006 stock Anyways the part number is correct. Thanks to one of Zippo's post's which helped me with that. Going to replace it tomorrow.

Bro explain a bit more. Which level, minimum? Then go to the SVC. If it's between max & min levels, its OK. Try to top up with the same oil.
I do top up with 100-150ml after completing around 1000km. Full synthetic's in particular need it (and i check the level once in 2 weeks too).

P.S. check oil after the bike has been parked for a while in central stand position.

Its the engine oil leaking from head region.
Get the seals checked @SVC, not a major issue if its less oil leakage.
Make sure they do not clean it and give it back to you

                  • Help!

There is something inside engine making rubbing sound when ever i leave clutch and accelerate . As per my imagination its some thing rotating in circular motion and at some point its touch/rubbing something. At first i thought it was rear disk but it not it, problem is internal.. I dont know whats in there.

                    • revamping to unviel the best out of 180 ABS

Hi all, I've been riding Apache since 2008. It all started with 160 refresh which i had for (2yrs), changed to 180 normal (1yr) for more speed & outstanding looks. Finally, 180 ABS (since june 2011) for the complete package with Safety. Now, completing close to 12k on ABS, i had few things to discuss with u all to address few issues.

                      1) I've had a constant loud tucking sound from chain, especially when decelerating from 90+. It sounds as if it's hitting the plastic chain guard. As of now, they've fixed it with minor modification with the chain cover. But, sometimes, i still hear the sound when i bump hard on some quick pot holes. Anyone idea?

                      2) A loud rear humming noise from rear break pads was horrible. I was literally embarrassed to hold brakes around de street as people would look back at me as if am riding a bulldozer. After several weeks of run around to the service center, they've removed the rear disc cable from the default clamp (attached to the swing arm) and tied with a separate strip (the which is used in malls to tie the carry bags). I know this is temporary solution. Any one of u had similar issue?

                      3) Just now finished my fifth n final free service, planning change engine oil, assuming it would reduce the vibrations of bike n fine tune engine smoothness. I'm heading right direction? If yes, what and which type would be better to switch? I have heard starting with semi synthetic and gradually to synthetic would be better. Any brand recommendations?

                      4) I get around 42kmpl, averaging 7K RPM city drive. I know I shouldnot expect much from more than this from my beast. But, i would like to give her more comfort, which doesn't demand a more crave of its capacity. What all can i consider to upgrade from stock? Sparkplug? K&N filter? silencer? or nothin?

                      5) As all other Apacheans out there, I'm too never satisfied with srichakra ever. Now, this would be my last bike I would buy, which tyres shall i switch to? I have Pirelli & Michelin in my mind. Michelin though is doing a great job on my friend's old Pulsar.

                      6) I know many of you all also wondering what all could be borrowed from new 2012 series on our beasts. As I've inquired, nothing much except silver footpedals (same as in fz), which i would be changing soon. Apart from that, including the battery cover, tank, air scoops, head light, etc, would all be difficult to be fitter since the entire cosmetic change has taken over on upgraded platform. I would however, be interested in adding up pilot light than nothin else.

I appreciate your suggestions in advance. I'm from Bangalore (Jayanagar)

                        I'll share my opinion on points 3 & 5.

                        3. Since you've clocked enough kms,(7000 IMO for starting a semi-synth) go for Motul 5100 4T 10w40. It's perfect for our ride. Will cost you around 495INR. Will easily hold till around 4500km.

                        5. You could try Yamaha YZF-R15 V1.0's tires. Grip levels would be awesome as some users here say. But ride quality might get compromised because of the low profile as Drifty said. Also, tire life would be shorter.

                          • ABS, braking sound issue..

I have read too many ABS owners reporting squealing sounds while braking .. I have experienced it myself. After covering around 13k km, I have got my rear brake kit pad changed. The sound has decreased a lot, but is still present while braking from speeds more than 80kmph.I have tried braking from 90 keeping the ABS OFF .The sound is completely absent.
The sound comes from the tyres experiencing heavy braking forces. It is NOT a mechanical issue...
Just to be on the safe side get the brake pads checked & cleaned, IF required get it changed. Keep a check on the brake fluid levels it tends to reach the min level within 1500km..

That is not normal. DOT 3 liquids last a lifetime

Thats not exactly accurate either. You are supposed to change the Brake Fluid every 2 years (max 3), irrespective of mileage.
