. With regards to buying the bike from csd, it has its own prices you won't get discounts if you buy it from there. To buy from csd visit nearest depot and get the form fill it and prepare to roam for getting it signed. then you need a DD of the cost of the bike, they will give you release order, take it to the dealer authorised by csd and take delivery

Somehow the design is growing up on me. The headlamp design looks too pulsar'ish. The 160 looks odd because of the shorter swingarm. This very model will do better numbers just because it has novelty value in the form of the those quirky design elements like the LEDs which would work well in the Tier-3 and rural markets(RTRs dont sell much here!!).Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostI am happy with TRU4 until Garry gives the review of AX7
BTW this Sunday a friend clicked a pic of my and rocker's rtr

And in the end this does make the big look a bit bigger in dimensions.

So now i need to find a dealer which is CSD approved and has stock of the old apache. Dammit! I'll leave the CSD thing then.Originally posted by harishmenace View PostMileage will not be so high if you ride an apache like a apache

I am still confused, you know I am still using Tru4 and in this scorching Delhi heat, I don't get even 1% smoothness.Originally posted by Drifty View PostShell AX-7 is really a good oil, only thing is it doesn't hold well say after 1500-1800kms or so.The engine sounds rough begging for an oil change.
An AWESOME pic there Prateek.Loved it.
BTW that pic is clicked by Peeyush (a friend) not me

I personally liked everything in the bike minus the headlight assembly, looks like Discover meets TVS on a windy night (personal opinion) and yes the bike looks bigger than the older version
Honestly the belly pan vibrates a lot even at the speed of 15-20kmph, first we thought its loose nuts but later on it came out to be normal characteristics of the belly pan. Do check other models to confirm its not the same with every bikeOriginally posted by pranav_salieri View Postguys is it possible to fit the rear cowl of the new RTR to the old one???? has anyone enquired about the new fairing prices???Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

I too guess it's the TPS for sure. Carb tuning AFAIK, is fine and it's internals as I've already mentioned, clean. TPS is difficult to source though.Originally posted by Drifty View PostSame issues here.Time to change the TPS (3rd time).
Would you be going to the SVC, or will it be a DIY? Just curious
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

A quick review about the Motul 300V 10w40 oil I put in. There has been a huge reduction in the vibes, especially between 4k-5k but not as much I was expecting. I was thinking that the bike will be as silent as the Honda bikes. I guess I was overexpecting

I enquired with the TVS service center at my place regarding the replacement of the old headlight assembly with the new one, the head supervisor said that its possible & the cost alongwith the new brackets( for fitting the new headlight, as the old brackets will be useless as far as fittment goes ) is 4.5k..OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR OF MY BEAST DO NOT APPEAR CLOSE- THEY SIMPLY DISAPPEAR !!!

Replacing old RTR body parts with 2012 parts
What about the other parts which are new in the 2012 series, can they be replaced too? like the scoops around the tank, rear cowl etc?Originally posted by krrishi View PostI enquired with the TVS service center at my place regarding the replacement of the old headlight assembly with the new one, the head supervisor said that its possible & the cost alongwith the new brackets( for fitting the new headlight, as the old brackets will be useless as far as fittment goes ) is 4.5k..

My RTR 180 ABS has clocked 12100 km in one year. While giving the bike for the 5th free service i had a few problems. The bike's engine was vibrating a bit more than normal & the exhaust sound had changed quite a bit ( this was just after a 500km single day ride). After service, the mechanics had not repaired anything but had made things worse.
Now i had "White smoke" problem according to TVS mech. After a few km, i realised that the pick-up,topspeed & mileage had gone down real bad. After the repair and a bill of 1700rs , the sound of the engine is hopeless. It makes sound of some metal piece hitting other parts.
Has anyone faced the same issue.?Need help with the prob..

the engine keeps shuttting down for a few kms when i start the bike in the morings or start after a long gap without usage even though when there is ample fuel..after a few kms it becomes okay maybe say 1-2 kms..its really irritating because i have to keep starting the bike using the electric starter which consumes the battery..what could be the problem??
also there was very less fuel in my bike the other day and i didnt know about it and my bike refused to start so i kept on thumbing the starter countinously for about a minute ...then the battery low warning light blinked for a second, now do i have to charge my battery????

I don't think you'll manage to get better than 40s. It's very easy to neglect the mileage in Apaches. I have an RTR160 and I've managed to get a 50+ out of it only once and that was the most boring phase of my owning period. I had to shift around 4k for that. The RTR will make you twist the throttle. The average mileage I get with my 160 is 42-45 and I'm not the strongest ripper around(usually 5k-7k gear shifts in pretty high city traffic with rapid acceleration). If you rip even as much as I do, you'll end up getting an average of 35-40 on the RTR180. The 3 digit cruise will make it even worse. SO don't be so optimistic about the mileage. The RTR will make you wanna forget about the mileageOriginally posted by blitzkreig809 View PostSo now i need to find a dealer which is CSD approved and has stock of the old apache. Dammit! My cousin's Apache 180 was delivered to his home by a showroom 140 kms away. The guy who drove it to his him took it to a maximum of 90 kmph (i know it thanks to the high speed recorder).
That definitely isnt the best things to do during the run-in.
And my cousin's the harshest rider i know. Even he get 40-45 kmpl. The 160 should give better than that......i suppose.Last edited by blitzkreig809; 05-24-2012, 10:02 AM.

@vivekgautams : White smoke is not a good sign. Get your bike checked thoroughly through some other reputed svc
@pranav_salieri : Check the electrolyte level and get the battery checked through volt-meter. I seldom remember using kick start on my bike and the battery is still working fine.
@blitzkreig809: Honestly you are being too optimistic on mileage part. 50 is too high what you are expecting. And if you are looking for mileage there are other bikes, rtr gives you riding experience not the mileage experience

Bro how difficult is to get 50 from Apache 160?? When you easily get 40-45 from Apache 180?Originally posted by prateek2210 View Post@blitzkreig809: Honestly you are being too optimistic on mileage part. 50 is too high what you are expecting. I'm talking about sane city riding conditions, not much of throttle twisting....
And please can you tell me the best TVS dealership in Delhi, preferable in North/North-West Delhi..?
